Weegar ask revealed, what could a deal look like.
Hey everyone, today we are headed to Calgary as he was recently talking to a league executive who mentioned what the Flames are getting g to target if they were to trade Weegar.
So Garrioch says he was talking to those league executives and they told him that the asking price for the Calgary Flames defenseman McKenzie Weegar is a first round pick and then either a top end prospect or a young roster player. Now we talked about this in the past couple of videos and blogs earlier this week and last week that the Senators and the Red Wings have been heavily linked to trying to acquire McKenzie Weegar which makes some sense as the Wings don't have the strongest of Bluelines and the Senators have been looking for another top four edition.

So these two have been the main teams linked and there’s probably a couple of other teams out there too, but that asking price is very intriguing, so the Flames seem to be wanting a first round pick and a top end prospect or a young roster player, So if you look at those two teams for a potential package with this ask, if you're looking at Ottawa, they don't have a first round pick for this year because of the forfeited pick, so with that asking price that the Flames are asking for Weegar, you're probably looking at either a first round pick in next year's draft or maybe a second round pick this year with some conditions on it, so you’re probably looking at something like that and you'd have to give up a young player as well. So you're either looking at a young prospect like maybe Halliday although I am not sure they want to deal him, I don't think they'd be willing to move Yakemchuk, maybe that young defenseman Logan Hensler who they recently just drafted, they could package as part of a deal, it would probably have to be something like that or if they're looking for someone on the roster who's a little bit on the younger side of things, maybe a guy like Ridley Grieg could pull it off. So you're probably looking at a first round pick in next year's draft and a Ridley Grieg or a Logan Hensler or something like that I think could pull it off from the Senators side.
From the Detroit Red Wings side, you're probably looking at a top 10 protective first round pick in this year's draft and maybe one of those younger players that they have, they have a few decent ones although I don't know if they'd be willing to move Axel Samson Pellikka, but maybe a guy like Marco Kasper or Nate Danielson they'd be open to moving to try and acquire Weegar. So, those are sort of the trade packages I would think the Senators or the Red Wings would make to try and acquire Mackenzie Weegar, so it seems like according to Bruce Garrioch, the ask for Mackenzie Weegar is a first round pick or maybe a second round pick with conditions of potentially becoming a first round pick and a top end prospect or maybe a young player on the roster.
So, we'll have to wait and see on that, but that is a pretty dang good ask in my opinion for Mackenzie Wager as I think given the fact they don't have to trade him, that sort of an ask seems right to me in my eyes. So, I'd love to hear your guys thoughts, do you think that's sort of a right ask for Mackenzie Weegar or do you think it's too much, let me know down in the comments your opinion on the ask for Weegar and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel.
