New ETEH top 40 Trade bait list.

End to End Hockey’s updated trade Bait List: top 40.

Hello everyone, we are back with another End to End Hockey’s trade bait list, so after a few earlier ones we know have a trade board heading into free agency as we have a updated trade board of 40 players, now all of the players on this trade board are from every team in the NHL and this will be my last trade board for at least the next week, but for this fourth one we have players from all 32 NHL Teams, there are a handful of players on here who I think have a strong likelihood of being dealt at some point this offseason and maybe after free agency, so there are definitely some interesting names on here and the hope is to post another after all the free agency stuff is done, so without further ado here is my updated trade bait list of the 2025 offseason with 40 players being on it.

1.) Jason Robertson

Previous Ranking: 2

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $7.75 Million AAV

Stats: 35-45-80 in 82GP

Position: WIN

Age: 25

2 landing spots: Utah and Anaheim

Analysis: now maybe one of the most surprising names that is percolating in the rumour mill right now has to be Stars forward Jason Robertson, now Robertson over the past few seasons has been one of the best and most consistent goal scorers as he has a few 40 goal seasons and lead Dallas this year with 35, but he is only a year away from UFA status and some people have mentioned that the last negotiations for Robertson before he signed his bridge deal were tough, so with that in mind, as well as the fact that he makes $7.5 Million and the Stars are in a tight cap situation and the potential return of players/prospects/picks the Stars could get for him has lead some people to think Robertson could be moved, and while I personally do now see a Robertson trade in the near future and think he will extend, keep and eye out as he could indeed be moved by Dallas.

2.) Jordan Kyrou

Previous Ranking: NR

Contract Status: 6 years left at a $8.13 Million AAV

Stats: 36-34-70 in 82GP

Position: RW

Age: 27

2 landing spots: Ottawa and NYI

Analysis: now a very interesting player who I was not expecting to be on the trade market but I keep hearing his name come up and that is Blues forward Jordan Kyrou, now Kyrou is a solid player as he had a great year last season hitting over 35 goals, getting 70 points, has been a staple for the Blues in the top 6 and is not overly old at only 27 years old, but there has been some speculation that if the Blues did want to get younger then Kyrou could be moved to make that happen and Kyrou’s contract has trade protection kicking in on July 1st so if they wanted to get out of his contract without having his input on it they would have to trade him soon, so while I don’t see Kyrou getting moved with more and more speculation growing there is a possibility that he gets dealt.

3.) Marco Rossi

Previous Ranking: 3

Contract Status: RFA

Stats: 24-36-60 in 82GP

Position: C

Age: 23

2 landing spots: Calgary and Vancouver

Analysis: so another very interesting RFA that may wind up getting traded is Wild 2nd line Center Marco Rossi, now Rossi is a very interesting name as he is coming off of his best season to date as he nearly hit 25 goals and reached the 60 point plateau, but the Wild only have a tiny bit of cap space with the Parise and Suter buyouts and Rossi wants a big extension which may be something Minnesota isn’t willing to do with the fact that Rossi was their 4th line Center in the postseason, so with that in mind he could f be dealt and any team in need of a 2nd or 3rd line Center would have some major interest in a guy like Rossi so long as they can sign him so keep an eye on Rossi going forward.

4.) Bowen Byram (Re-Signed)

Previous Ranking: 1

Contract Status: RFA

Stats: 7-31-38 in 82GP

Position: LD/RD

Age: 23

2 landing spots: Philly and San Jose

Analysis: now first up we have a name on the trade board that is gaining a lot of attention right now in the trade rumours mill, and that is Bowen Byram as the solid top 4 D is only a year and a half removed from being dealt to Buffalo and after the season he had putting up 38 points you would think Buffalo would want to keep him, but he is a RFA and could be seeking $7+ Million on a new deal and with Buffalo already paying Dahlin and Power $8+ Million, they may now want to pay him and the return could be huge, so for any team out there who is looking for a fantastic top 4 D on the younger side and who can grow with their team, expect them to target Byram this offseason.

5.) Rasmus Andersson

Previous Ranking: 5

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $4.55 Million AAV

Stats: 11-20-31 in 81GP

Position: RD

Age: 28

2 landing spots: Ottawa and Carolina

Analysis: now a name that has actually started to resurface with a meaning over the past few days is Flames top pair defensemen Rasmus Andersson, now Andersson was mentioned as a trade chip at various points last year but stayed in Calgary where he had a great start to the year and finished with a solid 11 goals and 30+ points, but apparently after preliminary talks about a contract extension it seemed like those two were nowhere close and it sounds like Andersson now wants a fresh start, so while it is possible the Flames could wait until the deadline to consider moving him, it might make more sense to move him now and with the lack of top end defensive talent I feel the Flames could get a great haul if they were to move Andersson.

6.) K’Andre Miller  (To CAR)

Previous Ranking: 4

Contract Status: RFA

Stats: 7-20-27 in 74GP

Position: LD

Age: 25

2 landing spots: Sharks and Kings

Analysis: now there is another really good RFA who is seemingly on the trade block and would be a hot commodity should he wind up being dealt and that is K’Andre Miller, now Miller is a solid top 4 defender who 2 years ago had a great season and even though he didn’t have a solid start to last year, he finished strong and looks like he will be a solid 2nd pair defender for years to come, now it seems like the Rangers are looking to change up their current blueline and that would include moving Miller as even though he is a solid defender, he is arbitration eligible and they don’t want to pay him what he could get in arbitration so it seems like he will be moved in the near future and any team in need of a young top 4 defender will have massive interest in Miller.

7.) Nick Hague (To NAS)

Previous Ranking: 11

Contract Status: RFA

Stats: 5-7-12 in 68GP

Position: LD

Age: 26

2 landing spots: Montreal and Pittsburgh

Analysis: now a situation that in a sense is similar to the Miller situation in NYR would be the Nick Hague situation in Vegas, now Hague ever since being drafted by the Knights in 2017 as their first ever 2nd round pick has been a great find as he is a 3rd pair defender with 2nd pair upside and had a pretty solid season this past year having 12 points in just under 70 games and while he isn’t the biggest point producer, he is a very solid defensive defender, but he is in need of a new contract as a Pending RFA and will probably be looking for $3-4 Million on a new deal and unfortunately the Knights really can’t pay that type of deal to Hague with their tight cap situation, so that has lead the Knights to shop Hague and look for a trade for him, and I feel the Knights could get a solid return and lots of teams would have interest in a bigger defender who has 2nd pair capabilities.

8.) Bryan Rust

Previous Ranking: NR

Contract Status: 3 years left at a $5.13 Million AAV

Stats: 31-34-65 in 71GP

Position: WIN

Age: 33

2 landing spots: Columbus and Buffalo

Analysis: now another very interesting player here who is on the trade block in on I wasn’t expecting to even be in the trade market with how good he is for the Penguins but with them looking to seek he is on the trade block right now and that is Bryan rust, now for years Rust has been a stellar fit in Pittsburgh playing mostly with Sidney Crosby and being a great point producer including this year where he had 30+ goals and 65 points, now he is getting up there in age as he is into his 30 but is on a reasonable cap hit of just over $5 Million and for a guy who can be a 20-25 goal scorer and put up at least 60 points, that would intrigue a lot of teams and with some teams needing top 6 help and the return the Penguins could get I do believe that Rust may be moved at some point this offseason.

9.) J.G Pageau

Previous Ranking: 17

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $5 Million AAV

Stats: 14-28-42 in 79GP

Position: C

Age: 32

2 landing spots: Minnesota and Montreal

Analysis: now another name that is entering my trade bait list is a name that has been in the rumour mill for some time but now it seems like will definitely get moved at some point because his contract is coming to a end and that is J.G Pageau, ow Pageau has been a pretty solid 3C over the past few seasons in the Isles organization and has been mentioned as a cap dump before, but he had a good season last year putting up nearly 15 goals and 40+ points and is now entering the final year of his deal and for teams who need a Center in a weak Center market, they may very well try and pry Pageau out of NYI and I think with the return they could get the Islanders will move Pageau this offseason.

Brian Fluharty Imagn Images

10.) M.Necas

Previous Ranking: 18

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $6.5 Million AAV

Stats: 27-56-83 in 79GP

Position: C,RW

Age: 26

2 landing spots: Utah and Dallas

Analysis: now in Colorado the Avalanche are tight against the cap and could look to move players to try and free up space, but one player who might be moved due to the fact that he doesn’t want to stay in Colorado is Martin Necas, now Necas is a solid top 6 winger and was the prime piece the Av’s got in the Rantanen deal, but reports have come out that even though Necas had 83 point in 79 games with Colorado/Carolina this past season, he probably doesn’t want to stay in the Avalanche organization and if that is true the Av’s could look to move him due to the fact that the Avalanche can’t afford to let the player they got Rantanen for walk in free agency, so they would have to get a solid player back in return but if he doesn’t want to sign, look for Necas to be moved by the Av’s this offseason.

11.) M.Ferraro

Previous Ranking: 10

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $3.25 Million AAV

Stats: 5-12-17 in 78GP

Position: LD

Age: 26

2 landing spots: Calgary and Boston

Analysis: now a solid top 4 defender whose contract is coming to a close which may make him a hot commodity this offseason is Mario Ferraro, now his name has been in the rumour mill since the 2024 deadline when his named started popping up as a potential trade target being a solid young defensive defender on a bad Sharks team, but now he is entering the final year of his deal and will be a UFA next year and the Sharks for all intents and purposes aren’t going to make the postseason next year so it makes a lot of sense for San Jose to deal him this offseason and they could get quite a return and I think any team in need of some youth on the blueline will target Ferraro.

12.) R.Rakell

Previous Ranking: 20

Contract Status: 3 years left at a $5 Million AAV

Stats: 35-35-70 in 81GP

Position: RW, C

Age: 32

2 landing spots: Utah and Detroit

Analysis: now another big time trade candidate we have here that could be moved this offseason is Rickard Rakell, now since arriving in Pittsburgh a number of year back, Rakell has been a fantastic top 6 forward for the Penguins mostly playing with Malkin or Crosby and that was the case yet again last year when he had 35 goals and put up 70 points on a subpar Penguins team, but around the deadline his name did come up in trade rumours and it seemed like Pittsburgh put a high price on Rakell, but it does seem that with Pittsburgh maybe going the retool/rebuild path they may be open to moving Rakell this offseason and any team in need of some top six help I think would be all over Rakell so keep your eye on him this offseason.

13.) I.Howard (To EDM)

Previous Ranking 21

Contract Status: no contract

Stats: 0-0-0 in 0GP

Position: LW

Age: 21

2 landing spots: Minnesota or Montreal

Analysis: now when it comes to Isaac Howard he was a former first round pick of the Lightning a few years back and had a solid season over in college, but after contract discussions it came out that Howard wasn’t going to sign in Tampa and that he would probably get moved or walk as a UFA in august, now Howard may be the best Bolts prospect at this point and had been a great player in college so I can’t see Tampa letting him walk, so I feel there is a very likely chance that Howard gets moved this offseason and that teams who are looking to get younger and add a player on a ELC who has a top 9 future would have some major interest in Howard and although I don’t think the return will be overly great for Tampa, I do think a trade will happen at some point so watch out for that.

14.) Erik Karlsson

Previous Ranking: NR

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $10 Million AAV

Stats: 11-42-53 in 82GP

Position: RD

Age: 35

2 landing spots: Detroit and Columbus

Analysis: now another very interesting player on the trade block is one who seems to be open to waiving his NMC to play on a contender as the Penguins look to continue to sell off pieces and that is Erik Karlsson, now Karlsson a few years back in Ottawa and San Jose was a dynamic and highly skilled offensive defenseman who played quite well with those teams and even had a triple digit point season with the Sharks before being dealt to Pittsburgh, but he hasn’t been the same guy in Pittsburgh and only had 53 points this year, so with Pittsburgh in sell mode and teams needing right handed defenders, I think there is a possibility that Karlsson with some money retained could be a good fit on a handful of teams and I feel that there is a strong likelihood of Karlsson getting moved at some point.

15.) Matt Dumba (To PIT)

Previous Ranking: 26

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $3.75 Million AAV

Stats: 1-9-10 in 63GP

Position: RD

Age: 30

2 landing spots: NYI and St.Louis

Analysis: now a very interesting player who may end up being bought out but may also wind ip getting dealt is stars defender Matt Dumba, now Dumba after trailing off the last few years in Minnesota and then in Arizona/Tampa was able to earn a 2 year contract in Dallas at just under $4 Million to help the Stars beef up the right side of their blueline, but his first year in Dallas wasn’t great as his defensive game was alright but only had 10 points in 63 games and wasn’t a huge impact for the Stars and was even some times a healthy scratch for the Stars in the postseason, so now with Dallas in cap trouble it seems that Dumba’s time with the Stars has already come to a end and teams who have cap space and could use a right handed defender on their 3rd pair I could see have some interest in Dumba so it seems like the Stars will definitely trade Dumba this offseason.

16.) P.Zacha

Previous Ranking: 30

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $4.75 Million AAV

Stats: 14-33-47 in 81GP

Position: C, LW

Age: 28

2 landing spots: Vancouver and Anaheim

Analysis: now another Bruins who I feel had a strong chance of getting moved this offseason is too 6 forward Pavel Zacha, now Zacha was dealt by Jersey to Boston 1 for 1 a few years ago for Haula and since arriving in Boston had been a fabulous fit in their top 6, now he had a decent year last season putting up 14 goals and 47 points, but he only ha2 2 years left on his contract and if the Bruins are truly going to go into sell mode and go through a retool phase, I feel that Zacha may not want to be a part of that and may be open to a trade, now because of his contract I wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed with the Bruins, but I think the offers from teams who could use a 2nd or 3rd line Center may be strong enough that the Bruins do wind up trading him so we will have to wait and see.

17.) V.Arvidsson (To BOS)

Previous Ranking: 29

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $4 Million AAV

Stats: 15-12-27 in 67GP

Position: WIN

Age: 32

2 landing spots: Los Angeles and Toronto

Analysis: now we have another Oiler who seems to be on the move out of Edmonton and that is Viktor Arvidsson, now after a few good seasons in LA Arvidsson hit free agency last year and got a 2 year contract with the Oilers that seemed to be a good deal at the time, but since then it hasn’t been overly good for the Oilers as Arvidsson was injured a few times this year and only mustered 15 goals and under 30 points and was healthy scratched multiple time last offseason, now just like we said with Kane, the Oilers are in a tight cap situation and Arvidsson in the final year of his deal with a $4 Million AAV makes him a prime trade target for the Oilers and although I think the return for the Oilers in a trade would be quite low, I think with where they are now cap wise they basically have to deal him this offseason.

18.) M.Maccelli (To TOR)

Previous Ranking: 25

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $3.43 Million AAV

Stats: 8-10-18 in 55 GP

Position: WIN

Age: 24

2 landing spots: Edmonton and Toronto

Analysis: so another intriguing trade candidate is with the newest NHL franchise involving a player who is in desperate need of a fresh start and that is Mattias Maccelli, now Maccelli has been a rather good winger for Utah/Arizona over the past few years and had really earned himself a solid middle six role but last year he feel out of favour in Utah as he was healthy scratched a few times and also put up under 20 points in 55 games last year, so with that in mind plus Utah wanting to get a big upgrade up front, it seems that Maccelli doesn’t have a role going forward with Utah but I think he is still a solid 3rd line forward so I wouldn’t be one bit shocked if there were a few teams out there who took a flyer on him.

19.) Sam Girard

Previous Ranking: 9

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $5 Million AAV

Stats: 3-21-24 in 73GP

Position: LD

Age: 27

2 landing spots: Columbus and Calgary

Analysis: now a solid top 4 defender who finds himself on the trade block again not for the purpose of being bad or needing a fresh start, but due to cap constraints is Sam Girard in the Av’s organization, now Girard has been mentioned in trade rumours on and off over the past few years as the Avalanche were tight against the cap needing to sign Toews and Mackinnon but Girard has stayed through all of it, but after Nelson signed a extension in Colorado that left the Av’s with basically no money to use right now and the Avalanche are in desperate need of flexibility, so although they may not want to the Av’s could look to move Girard and any team who needs a puck moving defender in their top 4 should be calling on Girard.

Nathan Ray Seebeck Imagn Images

20.) Evan Rodrigues

Previous Ranking: NR

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $3 Million AAV

Stats: 15-17-32 in 82GP

Position: C,LW

Age: 31

2 landing spots: NYR and Anaheim

Analysis: now another very interesting player who is making his debut on the trade board is Panthers bottom six forward Evan Rodrigues, now Rodrigues has helped the Panthers win back to back cup finals for the Panthers and has worked quite well as a bottom six forward with the Panthers, however last year wasn’t a great point producer only having 30+ points last year and he wasn’t overly productive in the postseason, and with his $3 Million cap hit and needing to sign some pending UFA’s there is a lot of talk that Rodrigues may wind up being a cap dump do to the Panthers needing cap space and if they lost him at the expense of Marchand or Bennett I think they would do that, so no guarantees that Rodrigues gets dealt, but if the team needs to free up cap space then watch out for Rodrigues being that guy.

21.) Nick Robertson

Previous Ranking: 24

Contract Status: RFA

Stats: 15-7-22 in 69GP

Position: WIN

Age: 23

2 landing spots: Dallas and San Jose

Analysis: now we have already put his brother on the trade list earlier and now we have the 2nd of the Robertson brothers on the trade list and that is Nick Robertson, now the former 2nd round pick of the Leafs has been in the rumour mill for a while now basically because the Leafs haven’t been able to give him a big role at the NHL Level, so that has lead a lot of people to think he could be dealt, but he stayed another year in Toronto and had a decent point total putting up 15 goals and 22 points in just under 70 games but was used sparingly in the postseason and with Robertson a RFA again and looking for a bigger role, it seems he will be dealt and teams who need a solid younger player who can play in the middle six will target Robertson this offseason.

22.) A.Turcotte

Previous Ranking: 31

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $.775 Thousand AAV

Stats: 8-15-23 in 65GP

Position: WIN

Age: 24

2 landing spots: NYR and Detroit

Analysis: now one of the younger players in LA and a former top draft pick who may be boxed out of the Kings organization is Alex Turcotte, now Turcotte was a former 5th overall pick and looks like he could be a solid NHL talent but had had a hard time cracking the Kings roster as he was able to muster almost 25 points in 65 games as a bottom six forward but I don’t think Turcotte will ever be a top 9 forward in the Kings organization and especially if the Kings do wind up making some big trade for a upgrade, Turcotte to me would be a very likely candidate to go the other way, so keep tabs on Turcotte as he may get dealt very soon.

23.) T.Demko (Re-Signed)

Previous Ranking: 8

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $5 Million AAV

Stats: 2.90 GAA and .889 SV% in 23GP

Position: G

Age: 29

2 landing spots: Edmonton and CBJ

Analysis: now in Vancouver there are a few trade candidates for the Canucks but in my eyes none are bigger then Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko, now last year Demko had another injury riddled year where he only got into 23 games and put up subpar numbers and that allowed Lankinen to take the starting job and run with it and then get a long term extension and now Silovs is doing well in the AHL playoffs, so with this in mind plus the injury history and the fact he is entering the last year of his deal, I feel that Demko is a very likely candidate to be dealt with Vancouver going with a Lankinen-Silovs tandem next year and I think any team in need of a true starting level goalie and willing to look past the injury concerns will target Demko.

24.) A.Copp

Previous Ranking: 35

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $5.63 Million AAV

Stats: 10-13-23 in 56GP

Position: C,LW

Age: 30

2 landing spots: Chicago and Pittsburgh

Analysis: now maybe a bit of a surprising name on my trade list here is Wings middle six forward Andrew Copp, now he signed with the Wings just after a stellar season in Winnipeg/NYR and got a 5 year contract, but it’s safe to say he hasn’t lived up to his contract in Detroit as he is coming off a injury riddled season where he only put up 10 goals and 23 points and never found that spot in Detroit, now I feel on the right team he could be a solid 40-50 point player and he only has two year left, so I feel whether it is a buyout or they trade him with retention I don’t feel that the Wings will still have Copp on the roster next year and even if it is just a cap dump I think Copp will be moved this offseason.

25.) Jonathan Marchessault

Previous Ranking: 15

Contract Status: 21-35-56 in 78GP

Stats: 4 years left at a $5.5 Million AAV

Position: WIN

Age: 34

2 landing spots: Vegas and Montreal

Analysis: now heading to Nashville where I feel we could get a lot of movement this offseason as the Preds go through the steps to try and sell off some pieces, but one name that is garnering interest and could be had for the right price is Jonathan Marchessault, now Marchessault left Vegas last offseason and signed a 5 year deal in Nashville to help out the Preds try and make the playoffs, but Marchessault had a subpar season putting up just over 20 goals and 50 points and the Preds were 3rd lowest in the NHL last season, so with that in mind even though Marchessault is signed for 4 more seasons, after the poor play from Nashville some people think that Marchessault would welcome a trade out of Nashville, so Nashville may look to keep Marchessault but if he really wants out then keep an eye on him being dealt.

26.) A.Cirelli

Previous Ranking: 16

Contract Status: 6 years left at a $6.25 Million AAV

Stats: 27-32-59 in 80GP

Position: C

Age: 27

2 landing spots: Vancouver and Boston

Analysis: now a very intriguing however maybe unlikely trade candidate on my trade bait list is Bolts 2nd line Center Anthony Cirelli, now for a while Cirelli has been a fantastic 2 way 2nd line Center for the Bolts and has been a key contributor offensively even this year when he had over 25 goals and nearly 60 points on the season so one may say that Cirelli will stay in Tampa and that is surely a possibility, but I have seen Cirelli’s name in the rumour mill because of the Bolts tight cap situation as the Bolts have very little money to work with and not too many big contracts to deal, so because of his high cap hit I feel the Bolts could move him to free up cap space and also get a solid return as Cirelli would be able to fetch a nice return so watch out for Cirelli being moved by Tampa for cap reasons.

27.) A.Lee

Previous Ranking: 43

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $7 Million AAV

Stats: 29-25-54 in 82GP

Position: LW

Age: 34

2 landing spots: Chicago and Philly

Analysis: also on my opening trade bait board is a Captain who is making quite a lot of money and may be sort of a cap dump this offseason and that is Anders Lee, now Lee has been one of the longest tenured Isles on the team and is nearly up with his contract as he only has one year left at a high $7 Million cap hit, but when he signed that Lee was consistently a 30-40 goal scorer and even though he had a good season this year hitting 29 goals and almost getting 55 points, it just doesn’t warrant a $7 Million cap hit, so with this in mind I could see the Islanders who may go down the path of a retool wind up dealing Lee this offseason with retained money and I could see teams if his cap was lowered have some major interest in Lee as a middle six forward so even though they wouldn’t get a stellar return, I feel Lee could get moved so watch out for him this offseason.

28.) V.Heinola

Previous Ranking: 36

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $.800 Thousand AAV

Stats: 0-1-1 in 18GP

Position: LD

Age: 24

2 landing spots: Tampa and Edmonton

Analysis: now a player on the Winnipeg Jets who I believe is in desperate need of a fresh start and could definitely be moved this offseason is Heinola, now Heinola was a few years back a solid prospect and a 1RD prospect at that and had very high potential even getting a few games right after being drafted, but then over the past few years due to the Jets depth he has been boxed out and on top of that he has had a ton of injury issues and just hasn’t been able to play consistently for the Jets, so with this in mind a fresh start may be in the cards for Heinola and I feel that he could be dealt to a place looking for some 3rd pair defensemen and I think in  another place Heinola would thrive.

29.) J.McCann

Previous Ranking: 28

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $5 Million AAV

Stats: 22-39-61 in 82GP

Position: LW,C

Age: 28

2 landing spots: Detroit and Vancouver

Analysis: now another very interesting name that I put on my trade board is Jarred McCann, now McCann has probably been the best expansion pick by the Kraken out of the 30 players they had selected as he has been a stellar top 6 guy over the past 4 seasons, but after a down year goal scoring wise his name came up in the rumour mill at the deadline because he is close to being a UFA and Seattle wasn’t a playoff team, now that he is only a year away from UFA status and with Seattle trending the wrong way, I would expect his name to pop up again because for what he brings his contract is really good and I feel the Kraken would get a haul for him, so keep your eye on the Kraken as they could wind up moving McCann.

30.) B.Schenn

Previous Ranking 33

Contract Status: 3 years at a $6.5 Million AAV

Stats: 18-32-50 in 82GP

Position: C,LW

Age: 33

2 landing spots: Anaheim and Philadelphia

Analysis: now a St.Louis Blue player who was mentioned to be on the move at around the trade deadline but never did get moved and I feel will be in the rumour mill again this offseason is Brayden Schenn, now Schenn has been a solid Blues player for years and had a pretty good season as the Blues Captain having almost 20 goals and 50 points but when the Blues were on the bubble at the deadline Schenn’s name came up in the trade rumours mill, now he never got moved and given the fact he is the Blues captain he could very well remain there, but given the amount of teams looking for Center’s and how good Schenn is, I could see the Blues for the right trade move Schenn elsewhere and give him a fresh start, so we will have to wait and see but keep an eye on Blues captain Schenn as he could be dealt soon.

Bob DeChiara Imagn Images

31.) M.Geekie (Re-Signed)

Previous Ranking: 22

Contract Status: RFA

Stats: 33-24-57 in 77GP

Position: C,RW

Age: 26

2 landing spots: San Jose and Colorado

Analysis: now another very intriguing trade candidate who was mentioned heavily at the trade deadline is Morgan Geekie, now Geekie over the past few years had bounced around between Carolina,Seattle and Boston and been a pretty good 3rd line player, but played higher in the lineup this year in Boston and had a career season putting up 30+ goals and nearly having 60 points which where both career highs and he is so for a raise as he is a RFA, so I could see the Bruins potentially bring back Geekie to keep him in the middle six, but the return they could get may outweigh keeping him and I feel that other teams for the right contract would love to add Geekie so I think he is very likely to get moved this offseason.

32.) Nick Roy (To TOR)

Previous Ranking: NR

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $3 Million AAV

Stats: 15-16-31 in 71GP

Position: C,RW

Age: 28

2 landing spots: Toronto and Buffalo

Analysis: now a guy who could be moved at some point in the offseason who might be on his way out with Vegas needing to clear Cap space in Nick Roy, now Roy ever since being acquired has been a solid middle six forward for the Knights and has turned into a very lethal and versatile forward and even this past year didn’t have a bad season putting up 15 goals and 30 points and I think he could still be a 20 goal scorer and a 40-45 point player, but Vegas is in cap trouble and with them wanting to go after a big player in free agency there has been a lot of speculation of them moving someone to free up cap and with Roy’s productivity and cap that could be a very good add for some teams and I feel Roy’s time in Vegas is coming to a end.

33.) Josh Anderson

Previous Ranking: 32

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $5.5 Million AAV

Stats: 15-12-27 in 81GP

Position: WIN

Age: 31

2 landing spots: Pittsburgh and Chicago

Analysis: now a potential cap dump in the Habs organization is a player who actually had a bounce back season last year but is still very likely to get moved to make way for more younger players and that is Josh Anderson, now over the past few years Anderson’s name has been in the rumour mill due to the fact that the contract he signed a while ago with Montreal was looking awful, now last year he had a decent season getting 15 goals and nearly 30 points, but the Habs could still look to move him to try and get a upgrade and on top of that free up cap space, so even though he was better last year look for the Habs to still move on from Anderson.

34.) Ryan McDonagh

Previous Ranking: 41

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $6.75 Million AAV

Stats: 4-27-31 in 82GP

Position: LD

Age: 36

2 landing spots: Los Angeles and Florida

Analysis: now another Bolts player who has a high cap hit and the Bolts may not be able to afford with the moves they want to still make is solid defender Ryan McDonagh, now McDonagh was a key part in Tampa winning back to back cups a few years ago but after Tampa reacquired him a few years back he hasn’t been playing up to that contract and only had 4 goals and just over 30 points last season, so with that in mind and McDonagh now being more of a 3rd pair guy and being heavily overpaid, that has lead some to think that if Tampa can work with McDonagh to waive his trade protection and go somewhere they may try and do that and I wouldn’t be surprised if McDonagh was indeed moved.

35.) Lawson Crouse

Previous Ranking: NR

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $4.3 Million AAV

Stats: 12-6-18 in 81GP

Position: WIN

Age: 28

2 landing spots: Toronto and NYR

Analysis: now another Mammoth player who has been mentioned as a potential trade chip in recent days has been Lawson Crouse, now just a couple of seasons ago with Arizona Crouse was a great player putting up 20+ goals and 45+ points and looking like a lethal and hard to play against middle six forward, but last year had a down season and only had just over 10 goals and didn’t even break the 20 point mark, so with all that in mind it seems Luka fresh start may be in the works for Crouse and so long as they are able to get something sort of improvement to the teams middle six, I definitely could see Crouse get moved so we will have to wait and see on that.

36.) B.Coleman

Previous Ranking: 27

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $4.9 Million AAV

Stats: 15-24-39 in 82GP

Position: WIN

Age: 33

2 landing spots: Columbus and St.Louis

Analysis: now a name I feel will be coming up in trade talk this offseason and I think could very well get moved is Flames middle six forward Blake Coleman, now Coleman last year had a pretty good season having 15 goals and nearly 40 points after having 50 the year before, so Coleman for his contract isn’t on that bad of a deal and on top of that knows what it takes to win the cup when he did it with Tampa, now he is one of the veteran leaders on this Flames team so I could see him stick around instead of getting dealt by Calgary, but I’d Calgary is heading down the retool or rebuild path then I think that Coleman is very likely to get dealt by the Flames and wouldn’t be shocked to hear his name come up in the rumour mill.

37.) Michael Bunting

Previous Ranking: NR

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $4.5 Million AAV

Stats: 19-19-38 in 76GP

Position: WIN

Age: 29

2 landing spots: Anaheim and Philly

Analysis: now another Predator that joins the trade bait list here is Michael Bunting, now Bunting has bounced around the past few years as he was in Toronto a few years ago, then went to Carolina, then to Pittsburgh and was dealt at the deadline to Nashville, now last year with Pittsburgh/Nashville he had a solid year having nearly 20 goals and 40 points and was looking pretty good and with the Predators not looking like a playoff team next year and Bunting entering the last year of his deal, it seems like there is a strong likelihood that we could see Bunting get dealt at some point.

38.) C.Jarnkrok

Previous Ranking: 34

Contract Status: 1 year left at a $2.1 Million AAV

Stats: 1-6-7 in 19GP

Position: WIN

Age: 33

2 landing spots: NYI and Winnipeg

Analysis: now the Leafs are about to get a lot of cap space as they may lose Tavares and Marner to free agency but even with that, the Leafs may look to try and move off some higher priced bottom six forwards to rework the bottom six and one of those guys is Calle Jarnkrok, now Jarnkrok was mentioned as a trade target at times last year because the Leafs were in a tight cap situation but he never got dealt as he suffered a injury and only played 19 games last year, now he is only signed for 1 more year and I think on the right team he could be a very solid 3rd line forward and I could see a couple of teams maybe trade for Jarnkrok and give him a chance.

39.) Matt Barzal

Previous Ranking: 38

Contract Status: 6 years left at a $9.15 Million AAV

Stats: 6-14-20 in 30GP

Position: C,RW

Age: 28

2 landing spots:

Analysis: now a very interesting name I am putting on my trade board is maybe a unlikely trade candidate but I have heard is name pop up over the last few months and I am starting to wonder if the Islanders may actually consider trading him, and that is Matt Barzal, now Barzal in his first few seasons in the league was a offensive powerhouse even hitting 80+ points in his rookie year, but since then he has struggled to find his game and although this year he was hampered with injuries he only had 20 points in 30 games, so with Barzal struggling recently that has lead some people to wonder if the Islanders could move him as it looks like he could use a fresh start and in top of that any team in need of a top 2 Center would gladly like to add him and the Islanders would get a great return so although it may be unlikely, keep an eye on NYI and potentially moving Barzal.

40.) P.Grubauer

Previous Ranking: 42

Contract Status: 2 years left at a $5.9 Million AAV

Stats: 3.49 GAA and a .875 SV% in 26GP

Position: G

Age: 33

2 landing spots: Detroit and Pittsburgh

Analysis: now another goalie on my list is a very interesting guy who I believe will be dealt or bought out at some point this offseason and that is Philipp Grubauer, now Grubauer was a great goalie back when he was with the Avalanche and in their inaugural offseason the Kraken signed him and at the time it looked like a solid deal for the Kraken, but since then it hasn’t worked out for the Kraken as he has never worked for the Kraken in their system and had a .875 SV% and nearly a 3.5 GAA, now with Daccord the starter I don’t think Seattle wants to pay him what he is making so although I won’t rule out a buyout as a option, I could se him be dealt and for teams looking for a goalie, I think with a sweetener attached Seattle could get out of the contract so we will have to wait and see.

So this is my top 40 trade bait list, as these are players that I have heard could be potentially on the move but are also players I feel we could see dealt at some point this offseason, so I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments, did I leave anyone off, should I have have put certain players higher or lower, and who would you have in the top 40 right now and who could be moved soon from teams now fully in the offseason, definitely love to hear your thoughts as this is my current top 40 trade bait list.
