Tsyplakov wants out of NYI because he isn’t getting enough playing time?
Hey everyone, in today’s blog post we take a look at the New York Islanders as one of their free agent acquisitions from last year isn’t getting a lot of playing time and may want a fresh start elsewhere if he can’t get into the lineup.
So according to a recent article from Elliotte Friedman, he was also talking about Maxim Tsyplakov, the Russian player on the New York Islanders, now two years ago, he was brought in from the KHL and he had a lot of promise last year playing his rookie season and actually didn't do quite bad, I think he had around 10 or 15 goals and he had around 20 to 30 points, so he didn't do as good as he did in the KHL, but he wasn't a bad fit on the Islanders playing in a top 9 role and also laying the body a lot, too. So he was a pretty solid player.
However with the Islanders current group as it's structured, Tsyplakov continues to be a healthy scratch, basically being the 13th or 14th forward and some of their younger players like Callum Ritchie, and some of those other younger guys have sort of leapfrogged him on the depth chart, So with that in mind, Friedman does say that teams are poking around on Tsyplakov who isn't getting that much playing time as we just mentioned. So I think there'll be some teams who would have some interest in Tsyplakov, because he's a solid middle six forward who can lay the body and who can put up a couple of points as well and I just think he's being boxed out of the Islanders organization right now.

So, I think a couple of playoff teams might try and take a look at trying to acquire Tsyplakov and with where he is at this point in time on the Islanders roster, I don't think they'd be overly opposed to moving him, nowI'm not sure what they'd want in return as I would think maybe like a second round pick, or maybe a similar roster player, or maybe like a third round pick and a decent prospect like i said I'm not exactly sure, but it does seem like with Tsyplakov not getting very much playing time, a trade could come at some point and maybe it’s just time for Tsyplakov and the Islanders to split with him not getting much playing time.
So, we'll have to wait and see on that, but keep your eye on the Islanders as they could try and flip Tsyplakov to another team before the trade deadline, So we will have to wait and see on that but I would love to hear your thoughts, if you think Tsyplakov will get dealt down below in the comments and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel.
