Preds could deal Marchessault at deadline?

In today’s blog post we are taking a look at Nashville as even though we have talked about them moving a veteran or two later on in the year, there has been more reports coming out that a former Knight in Nashville could wind up being dealt at the deadline and would be open to a move.

We've heard about Stamkos and O’Reilly really recently, but another name that has popped up a little bit over the past couple of months is Jonathan Marchessault in Nashville. Now Chris Johnston was talking about him and he says that he could see Marchessault later on into the season be open to being dealt by the National Predators. Marchessault is in the second year of a 5-year deal with a $5.5 million AAV with the Nashville Predators and Marchessault has been one of the bright spots in Nashville the past few years. He was one of their point leaders last year I think hitting  just over 50 points and I think hitting around the 20 to 30 goal mark. So we shall wait and see what happens there as I could definitely see Marchessault get moved. 

The one thing there has been some speculation about when it comes to Marchessault is that he wants to go to a no tax state if he was to get dealt. So, Seattle, Dallas, Vegas, those would be a few teams as well as Carolina who may be another one who I think would have some interest and Marchessault would have some interest in joining. So, we shall wait and see on that. Once again, no guarantees by any means that Marchessault gets dealt, but I have heard his name a little bit over the past couple of months.

And if O'Reilly and Stamkos are out there, I definitely think Marchessault would be too. However, I'm not sure how many teams would really like to add Marchessault at a $5.5 million cap hit for a couple more seasons. So, we shall wait and see what happens there. But Nashville's not had a really great start to this season, they recently lost and got shutout by the Penguins and I think if they keep on falling, they're going to start some sort of a fire sale there and like we talked about, Stamkos could potentially get moved or O’Reilly potentially get moved and it seems like Marchessault is another name that we're going to have to watch out for over the next couple of months, so keep your eyes on the Preds potentially moving top 6 forward Marchessault in the coming months, I would love to hear your thoughts on a potential Marchessault deal below and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel.
