Lohrei getting dealt?

 Are the Bruins moving Lohrei?

In today’s blog post we are heading over to Boston as after some puzzling deployments and being healthy scratched on multiple occasions, could the Bruins look to deal young blueliner Mason Lohrei. 

Now Elliotte Friedman was recently saying on his podcast that he doesn't think there's any sort of trade discussions happening right now, but brought up the fact that the Boston Bruins scratched Mason Lohrei in five consecutive games a few weeks ago before the Bruins suffered a few injuries on the blueline. Now Lohrei in my opinion is a really solid top 4 defensemen and he’s shown some really solid promise in the Bruins organization to be a solid top four defensemen with the Boston Bruins, but for some reason he keeps on being a healthy scratch and I think he may still be a healthy scratch right now if not for the injuries to McAvoy and Harris.

So Friedman says that while he doesn't think there's any sort of trade discussions happening right now, he does say that teams are going to start turning their heads if Lohrei keeps on getting healthy scratched. Now he's got I think this year plus next year left on his contract at a $3.2 million cap hit and he's a really solid top 4 defender. He's on the younger side of things and I think at the end of this current contract he'll be RFA. So, I think there would be a lot of teams if he was available to have some major interest in Mason Lohrei as I think a lot of teams could really use a solid top four right shot defenseman like Lohrei into their group. 

Now, like I said, I don't think Boston is shopping him right now. I think they'd be quite silly to shop him given his age and potential ceiling in Boston. So, I don't think they're going to be trying to move him or anything and I still feel more then likely he will remain in Boston, but I definitely think that if the Bruins keep on getting Lohrei healthy scratched, teams will be checking on him and trying to pry him out of Boston. And who knows, maybe there is a possibility of a Mason Lohrei trade that could happen later in the year. 

So, once again, I don't think it's a very likely possibility and if it was a possibility, I would think the Boston Bruins want a second round pick and solid prospect or a first round pick back in return for trading Lohrei, so that would be a steep asking price, but for teams who do need some more top 4 help, I could see them trying to acquire Mason Lohrei after all these healthy scratches. So, we should wait and see on that but if he keeps getting healthy scratched, watch out for teams potentially trying to pry Lohrei out of Boston, and I would like to hear your thoughts if you think Lohrei will get dealt by Boston in the comments and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel.
