 Blues ready to deal Faulk?

In today’s blog post we are heading to St.Louis as according to a recent report the Blues may be open to dealing a top defender this year for the right price.

Now David Pagnotta mentioned recently on a news hit he did, said that St.Louis is apparently open to moving Justin Faulk if their season continues to get worse and the right deal came along, so that's a very interesting report. We briefly talked about Faulk in one of our YouTube videos talking about the potentiality of some of the Blues trade candidates and Faulk was a name that I said could potentially get moved, but I thought was a little bit less likely. Well, apparently there is a willingness from the St. Louis Blues to potentially consider a Justin Faulk deal.

Now Faulk has this year plus next year left at $6.5 million cap hit so it’s not an overly bad contract as it’s a very short-term contract and if it doesn't work out with the acquiring team, then they could always walk away from him next year in the free agent class. And on top of that, his AAV for what he brings is not a terrible AAV. So I could see some major teams have some interest, as we heard recently Utah be mentioned as potentially having some interest in a top four defender. Would they have some interest in Justin Faulk? I could see that as a possibility, I could see LA trying to add a top 4 defender, especially after the departure of Gavrikov and Spence this past off season. I could see Dallas definitely wanting to try and add some sort of a top 4 defender. Vegas, I could definitely see trying to add top 4 defender as they were linked to Andersson earlier in the year and there's been some rumblings out there about Colorado wanting a defensive upgrade and I think Toronto could also use a defensive upgrade. 

Maybe to some extent Montreal could also use a defensive upgrade, so there's definitely a couple of teams out there who would have some massive interest if Justin Faulk came on the trade market, so we'll have to wait and see on that, But even though Faulk has been a pretty solid piece for the St. Louis Blues over the past couple of years, don't expect it to be a guarantee that he doesn't get moved. 

And if the St. Louis Blues find the right offer and aren't doing overly well, we could see a Justin Faulk deal, which I think given his contract term, AAV and given how many teams could definitely use a top four defenseman, I could definitely see Faulk get moved by the trade deadline and the Blues get a couple of good pieces like a decent prospect or high pick in return, so we'll have to wait and see on that but definitely keep tabs on the Blues as they seem to be a team gearing up to sell and Faulk is at the top of that list, and I would love to hear your thoughts below on if you think that Faulk will get dealt and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel.
