Will Joël Hofer be offer sheeted?

 Hofer a offer sheet candidate?

In today’s blog post we are looking at the St.Louis Blues as according to Chris Johnston I think on the Chris Johnston show was mentioning some offer sheet players and we talked about Maverick Bourque recently and apparently another potential offer sheet candidate according to Chris Johnston is Joel Hoffer in St.Louis.

Now Hoffer is currently the backup to Jordan Binnington, but he had a pretty solid season as he had a .904 SV% and a sub 3.00 GAA and had a winning record, so Hoffer was pretty good even though Bennington was their starter and was the starter for the playoffs so Hofer didn't have a bad season and maybe eventually Hofer could take the reigns for Binnington and long term could be the Blues starter.

Now the Blues are very tight against the cap and while there's a very good chance they'll be able to put Krug on long-term injury reserve, even with him potentially not being back from his injury that would mean they only have about I think $10 million in cap space and while they don't have too many players who need to sign right now, they're going to have to sign a couple of players to round out there roster, so that's led some people to think maybe Hofer could wind up being a offer sheet candidate.

Now I think if there was a team out there who maybe would offer sheet him like $2-2.5 million on a one or two year deal to be a team's tandem goaltender with one of their goalies they already have, I would not be one bit surprised given the weakness of the UFA market in net and the potential high ask it would be for guys like Demko, Gibson and UPL I could see some teams potentially trying to target Hofer as a offer sheet with like a third or second round pick as compensation because I think Hofer eventually could be a starter at the NHL level on some teams.

So we're going to have to wait and see on that, but keep your eye on Hoffer as a potential offer sheet candidate according to Chris Johnston with the weak goalie market for any team out there who could use a young starting level goalie.
