Rust drawing interest from teams?
In today’s blog post we are looking at the Pittsburgh Penguins as according to Josh Yohe of the Athletic, he was talking about the Pittsburgh Penguins as he is a very credible guy who covers the Penguins and he says that there are teams out there who are checking in on the availability of Brian Rust in Pittsburgh.
Now we talked about Rakell towards the NHL's trade deadline as it seems like Kyle Dubas put a really high asking price on Rakell and I would think that if he even considers a Brian Rust move it'll be the same sort of thing, now Rust is signed for 3 or 4 seasons I think at just over $5 million and for the production he brings, the contract is a steal and if the Pittsburgh Penguins are really going to go through a rebuild or a retool or something like that, I could definitely see a move for Rust because the value they could get for Rust is astronomical.

Now I could see a first round pick, a solid player and maybe something else be dealt for Rust and I think that'll be a solid haul there for the Pittsburgh Penguins, so I'm not going to say it's a guarantee that Rust does stay or Rust gets moved and I think it's more likely he'll stay because he has a really good relationship with Crosby + Crosby and him are really good linemates, so I'm not going to say it's a guarantee by any means that Rust does get moved, but I think with the return that they could get if they were to go down the rebuild or retool type of path, I could see that be a really smart move there for the Penguins.
So we're going to have to wait and see on that and once again no guarantees that Rust gets moved, but Josh Yohe does say there are a couple teams out there who are checking around on the availability of Rust and any team I think who needs some top six help and maybe is a little bit tighter against the cap could definitely go after Brian Rust so we have to keep our eyes on ghat but watch out for a potential Rust trade this offseason.
