In today’s blog post we are looking at the Maple Leafs as we know that there's a very likely chance Mitch Marner could wind up leaving, so there is a potential option they could go after a sort of Mitch Marner replacement and that is Chris Kreider.

Now I think it was Chris Johnson who also mentioned this as Kreider could be a guy who the Leafs try and target as we know Kreider’s going to get moved, he's making $6.5 million for two more seasons and he's a former 50 goal scorer, but last year only had 22 goals and the relationship between him and the Rangers has really soured over the past little while, so it definitely seems like Kreider is going to be traded at some point, now I don't know exactly which team could try to acquire him, as I think Buffalo might be a team interested as well as Ottawa and there's definitely a couple of other teams and now it seems like we should be throwing Toronto into the mix.

Now that at least makes sense as if they're moving away from Marner and potentially moving away from Tavares you're going to have a whole bunch more cap space and they're probably still going to have to sign Knies, but with that in mind Kreider could be an interesting pickup there for the Leafs and I think Kreider at $6.5 Million if they can get him back up to being at least a 40 goal scorer that could be a massive boost for the Leafs because I think while Marner is a better point producer and all-around player, Kreider is definitely a better goal scorer than Marner is.

So we'll have to wait and see on that, but keep an eye on Kreider and potentially the Toronto Maple Leafs as a potential option to sort of replace some of the production that Marner might leave if he hits free agency, so keep an eye on Kreider as a potential Marner replacement.
