Flyers looking at Byram?
In today’s blog post we take a look at the Philadelphia Flyers as according to David Pagnotta the Flyers are a team who has checked in on Bowen Byram over the past little while and may have some interest in adding him.
So that's a very interesting concept there as I think the Flyers are a team I feel like should be selling and trying to get worse for the McKenna draft next off-season and I think adding McKenna to a team that already has Michkov would be a very fantastic add there for the Flyers, but the Flyers are a team who wants to try and get better in some way now and Byram makes some sense as this team doesn't have a whole bunch of solid and elite level defensive players, they have Sanheim who is the best of the bunch and they have Seeler, York and a couple of lower end guys and none of them are really solid top pair defensive guys except for maybe Sanheim.
Now Byram is a top pairleft shot guy and he could be a very fantastic defensive addition there for the Philadelphia Flyers, so I definitely think it makes some sense for the Flyers to check in on Bowen Byram, now the ask I think would have to be a first round pick and the Flyers have three of them So that would make some sense, I think probably York would have to be included or a guy like Owen Tippett and maybe something else, so would it really make sense for the Flyers to go after Bowen Byrm, I think it would fill the hole they have in their blue line and that would make some sense, but I just don't know if it's the smartest move at this point in time for the Flyers.
So personally I don't see the Flyers going after Byram as I just can’t see them pay the assets to get him when they need to be tanking, but I can see why they might have some interest So we'll have to wait and see on that but apparently the Flyers have at least checked in on a potential Byram trade.
