Demko open to trade?
In today’s blog post we are taking a look at the Vancouver Conucks as according to David Pagnotta, he mentioned recently that it sounds like Thatcher Demko is open to a change of scenery and could be moved this offseason.
Now we heard a couple of recent reports just after the Canucks season ended that the Canucks were going to try and sign Demko to a extension in the offseason, I personally didn't see too much to it and I think a lot is also playing into the fact that Silovs is having himself one heck of a run in the AHL playoffs and he's looking really good, so I personally think even though Lankinen is a little bit untested as a starter in the NHL, this team should go in to next year with Lankinen and Silovs as the tandem.
Now they just signed Lankinen to a long-term deal and high value deal and you don't pay players like that the big bucks if you don't believe in them, so I fully think that Lankinen should start as the 1A and Silovs as the 1B and they should try and trade Demko this offseason. Now I'm not sure exactly what sort of value they could get, as we saw Ullmark and Marstrom get dealt last year and both those guys got solid younger NHL players plus a first round pick, but maybe with the injury history of Demko and with the fact that he's only in the final year of his deal, maybe it's a second round pick and a decent player instead, so I'm not exactly sure what the Conucks will try and get for him, but I definitely do see the potentiality here that Demko will get moved.

I definitely think Demko is a prime trade target for the Vancouver Conucks and they could have other guys who they could potentially try and move on from, but I think with the log jam in net and with Silovs hitting waiver eligibility with how good he's playing at the AHL level, I think I would be fine as a Canucks fan if they ran with a Silovs-Lankinen tandem and maybe try to move Demko to get them some help maybe on the blue line or up front.
So we'll have to wait and see what happens there, but keep your eye on Demko as Pagnotta says that he's open to a change of scenery from Vancouver and the Canucks may move him this offseason even though his value isn’t that high so keep your eyes on this situation.
