Bennett-Panthers close on extension?

In today’s blog post we are looking at the Florida Panthers and Sam Bennett as according to David Pagnotta he says that progress has been made on a extension between Bennett and the Florida Panthers as a lot of people it seems like right now are saying that Bennett's going to stay in Florida on a new deal and not hit free agency, sounds like it'll be something like a 8 or 7-year deal at around the $7-8 million range and it sounds like Bennett will stay in Florida.

So I don't think Florida's going to be able to keep all of their UFA’s as they have Bennett, Marchand and Ekblad and some of their lower end guys are also UFA’s, so they're going to definitely lose a couple of guys after the Stanley Cup final, but it doesn't sound at this point in time like Bennett is one of them and it definitely sounds like he'll stay and it would make sense as ever since coming over from Calgary Bennett has been a beast in the Panthers organization and in these playoffs he leads the league in goals and has been scary to face and I think he is a guy who would do well staying in Florida.

So again no guarantees or anything as a contract has not yet been finalized, but it does sound like there's been progress made to an extension according to Pagnotta between  Bennett and the Panthers and a extension could be coming in the next few days so keep your eyes on this situation.
