Av’s might try and Move Necas, Girard or Coyle?

Av’s could move Girard, Coyle of Necas?

In today’s blog post we are looking at the Colorado Avalanche as according to Frank Seravalli and Nick Kypreos as they were talking about the Avalanche on their separate podcasts and both mentioned some very intriguing players who the Av’s may consider trading this offseason.

Now Kypreos mentioned that Martin Necas was not happy with his experience with the Av’s after being dealt to Colorado, he was the prime piece that the Avalanche acquired for Mikko Rantanen and Kypreos says that Necas really wasn't happy with the way things went in Colorado, so with that in mind he says that maybe Necas is a trade chip for the Colorado Avalanche this offseason.

Now Necas is entering the final year of his deal and  if he's not willing to do an extension in Colorado I would not be one bit surprised if the traded him because the Avalanche got Necas for Rantanen and letting him walk next off season as a UFA would be a massive blow for the Avalanche, but also losing him for a subpar return would also be a bad blow for the Avalanche, so we're going to have to wait and see on that and no guarantees by any means that Necas will get traded, but if Necas is just not willing to do a extension before the season starts whatsoever and he's sort of unhappy with the way things went in Colorado this year, I could definitely see the Avalanche consider a trading him so watch out for that.

Now when it comes to Frank Seravalli he was talking on his daily faceoff show about some of the Avalanche players he says that there's chatter out there about and that involves the availability of Sam Girard and Charlie Coyle, now some people are questioning the role for Charlie Coyle this off-season, Coyle was the third line center for Colorado after he was acquired at the deadline from the Boston Bruins, now Nelson just signed that massive extension so the Avalanche are going to need to move off someone to clear up cap space and Coyle is making $5.25 million and as their third line center is someone who I think the Av’s could do without.

Now I think a guy like Jack Drury who's making just over $1 or $2 million is a much more better third line center option for the Avalanche or going into free agency and getting someone between $2 and $3 million would be a smart move there instead of keeping Coyle around, so Coyle’s also entering the final year of his deal so it definitely seems like Coyle’s time in Colorado might be coming to an end in the very near future, while for Sam Girard we've talked about Girard’s name over the past couple of years, we talked about him when Toew’s contract was ending, we talked about him when Mackinnon’s contract was ending trying to free up some cap space but throughout all those signings he stayed in Colorado, but with the sort of tight cap situation the Avalanche are in right now it might make sense to trade him as they got Manson, Toews and Makar and there's a couple of other decent defenders who could round out those last three spots in the top six for Colorado on the blueline.

So if the right deals out there and I think it would have to be a pretty good ask to try and pry Girard who's got a couple of years left at a $5 million cap hit, but Girard might be one of the names to watch out for in Colorado, so we know that the Brock Nelson deal is going to have a ripple effect on the Avalanche because they still need to sign some bottom six guys and some bottom pair guys on their team and with that in mind guys like Coyle, Girard and if he's not happy there and not willing to sign an extension Necas might all be potential trade targets for the Colorado Avalanche this offseason so we will have to wait and see if we get some interesting moves involving Colorado this offseason.
