Islanders dealing Lee/Pageau.

 Islanders to consider moving veterans like Pageau and Lee.

In today’s blog post we are looking at some trade rumours that have been centering around the Islanders as when it comes to the Islanders it sounds like there is a couple of things they may be looking at heading into the offseason.

So first when it comes to what the Islanders could do in the offseason, it sounds like they're still trying to work on a Kyle Plmieri extension as they want to keep him and they didn't move him at the deadline, they did wind up moving Brock Nelson because they couldn't come to terms on a long-term extension, but they didn't move Palmieri because they think that they can sign him before free agency so we'll have to wait and see what Palmieri does, but it does sound like Luo is not done potentially tinkering with this roster and will be open to moving a couple of other longtime vets in New York in the offseason and that is John Gabriel Pageau and Anders Lee.

Now both guys are going to be I believe entering the final year of their deals as Lee might have an extra season and if he does then he has one or two more years left at a $7 million Cap Hit, while Pageau I think will be entering the final year of his deal at a  $5 million cap hit, now Pageau has shown in the past he can be a solid second maybe, but mostly a third line center and is a really solid guy, he helped Ottawa win in the playoffs a number of years back and he helped the Islanders in the playoffs just a couple of years ago so he knows what it takes to win in the playoffs and he could be a really solid add for maybe a younger team who needs some more center help and could definitely try and target him in the off-season, so definitely keep your eye on the Islanders and John Gabriel Pageau potentially as well as Anders Lee.

Now I think Lee only has one or two years left and hasn't been the same as he has been in the past for the Islanders and he's not the same goal scorer he once was, so with him still having a $7 million cap hit I’m not sure if any teams would really want to take him on, but I could see if the Islanders add maybe a sweetener or retain some salary maybe a team or two could try and get him to sort of fit him in their top six and maybe try and rejuvenate his goal scoring abilities.

So we're going to have to wait and see on that, but it does sound like Lamorello might be open to moving both Anders Lee and John Gabriel Pageau in the very near future in the offseason as more veterans who may be able to get fresh start elsewhere so we're going to have to keep our eye on that going forward into the offseason.
