End to End Hockey’s updated trade Bait List: top 43.
Hello everyone, we are back with another End to End Hockey’s trade bait list, now I have updated the trade bait board of 30 players that I had made earlier in the year as a few players including number twelve Gustav Nyquist fell of the board, so I replace them and expanded to now have a 43 player trade bait board, there are a handful of players on here who I think have a strong likelihood of being dealt prior to the March 7th trade deadline, so there are definitely some interesting names on here and I may update this post over the next couple of days until Thursday just before the deadline if there are some trades that happen, so without further ado here is my updated trade bait list of the 2025 year with 43 players being on it.
1.) Brayden Schenn
Previous Ranking: 19
Contract Status: this year plus 3 more at $6.5 Million
Stats: 12-26-38 in 62GP
Position: C
Age: 33
2 landing spots: Toronto and Vegas
Analysis: we have another Captain of a NHL team who may be available for trade and that is Blues Captain Brayden Schenn, now Schenn is a solid 2-3C with the Blues and is a veteran leader on that team and has been with them for quite some time, but recently with the Blues basically hovering around .500 the entire year, there has been some recent rumblings that the Blues may be open to the idea of moving on from their Captain although it may be less likely after their recent surge, now it would be a difficult trade to do and the Blues sound like they have put a high ask on their Captain, but a leader who has term on his deal and could play 2C I think would have a lot of a appeal to playoff bound teams and there has also been talk about him joining his brother somewhere and even though I don’t think it is guaranteed he gets moved, it definitely seems like it is a possibility right now.
2.) Ryan Donato
Previous Ranking: 2
Contract Status: final year at $2 Million
Stats: 21-22-43 in 58GP
Position: C,LW
Age: 28
2 landing spots: Ottawa and Colorado
Analysis: one of a couple of Blackhawks who could find himself on the move before the deadline is Ryan Donato, Donato who has mainly been a bottom six forward throughout his career is having himself a solid season that has him already at a double digit goal amount and a cap hit that a lot of teams could fit in their system, Donato is a likely trade candidate because the Hawks are a very low team and Donato is on a expiring deal and with teams always looking and sometimes overpaying for bottom six help at the deadline, I think Donato may be as good as gone and will very likely be dealt soon.
3.) Brock Boeser
Previous Ranking: 3
Contract Status: final year at $6.65 Million
Stats: 18-18-36 in 53GP
Position: RW
Age: 27
2 landing spots: Winnipeg and Columbus
Analysis: one of the real interesting names that we will be watching around the trade deadline is Canucks forward Brock Boeser, Boeser is a solid top 6 goal scorer coming off a 40 goal breakout season and really fitting in quite well in the Canucks top six and you would expect a guy of his caliber to stay, but the Canucks are right now a fringe playoff team and Boeser is a pending UFA who apparently rejected a 5 year contract and they would definitely not want him to walk as a UFA so if they are still a fringe playoff team and it doesn’t look like he will sign a extension, then we may actually see the Canucks move Boeser before the deadline as tons of teams would love to acquire him.
4.) Mikko Rantanen (DAL)
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: final year at $4.63 Million
Stats: 27-43-70 in 60GP
Position: RW,C
Age: 28
2 landing spots: Los Angeles and Toronto
Analysis: now after being dealt earlier in the year in a surprising move I wasn’t expecting to hear his name be mentioned in trade rumours again, but one name that met be moved before the deadline is Canes forward Mikko Rantanen, now Rantanen was acquired a month ago by the Hurricanes from Colorado and hasn’t been his dominant self that he was in Colorado, and the Canes don’t want a repeat situation of Guentzel last year where he walked away as a UFA for nothing, so the Hurricanes have to make a decision on whether to keep him or move on from him and if he was to be moved a ton of teams would have interest so we could see yet another Rantanen trade soon.
5.) Trevor Zegras
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $5.75 Million
Stats: 7-9-16 in 34GP
Position: C,LW
Age: 23
2 landing spots: Buffalo and Pittsburgh
Analysis: now even though the Ducks are coming out of a rebuild and are trying to improve, one player who has been in the rumour mill since the offseason and may get moved very soon is Zegras, now Zegras is a exciting and young top 6 forward who looks like he will be a top 6 forward for a while but the Ducks have wanted him to play a new style of hockey, the last contract negotiations didn’t go well and he has been injured a bunch over the last few years and all those factors may wind up leading to Zegras actually getting dealt by the Anaheim Ducks even though he is a younger player, and although he has had injury troubles a lot of teams would love a skilled forward like that.
6.) Scott Laughton (TOR)
Previous Ranking: 7
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $3 Million
Stats: 11-16-27 in 58GP
Position: C,LW
Age: 30
2 landing spots: Toronto and Winnipeg
Analysis: now a player who has been in the rumour mill for quite some time and may get dealt before this years deadline is Scott Laughton, now with the Flyers in the midst of a rebuild Laughton’s name has come up as a potential trade candidate for the Flyers but with them doing well last year and their high ask he was never moved, but with a worse record this year and Laughton only having 1.5 years left on his deal at a reasonable $3 Million AAV and with Laughton being a versatile middle six forwards tons of teams would like in the playoffs, I think Laughton will indeed get moved before the deadline even though the Flyers don’t have too and I believe the Flyers will get a solid return in a deal that may even meet their ask.
7.) Brock Nelson (COL)
Previous Ranking: 20
Contract Status: final year at $6 Million
Stats: 19-22-41 in 59GP
Position: C, LW
Age: 33
2 landing spots: Minnesota and Toronto
Analysis: one of the bigger rentals that may be on the trade market this year is top end Center Brock Nelson, now the former 30 goal scorer has been a stud on the 2nd line for quite some time now for the Islanders and has been one of their better goal scorers on a team that can’t score and there is also some recent talk he may stay in NYI as the team does still want to keep him, but with NYI now looking like sellers and out of a playoff spot and with Nelson’s age, there is a likely chance that he will get dealt and chase a Cup somewhere else before the deadline if NYI gets a strong enough offer.
8.) Jarred McCann
Previous Ranking: 14
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $5 Million
Stats: 15-29-44 in 61GP
Position: C, LW
Age: 28
2 landing spots: Ottawa and Colorado
Analysis: another surprising name that has recently come up in trade chatter is Kraken’s forward Jarred McCann, now given his importance to the team, given he has been the best expansion pick they made, how well he fit in there and the fact he is a leader, I wouldn’t be overly shocked to see him stay in Seattle, but recent reports have said the Kraken may be open to moving the skilled top 6 forward for the right price and I feel like if a team were to step up with a big enough offer, then we may see McCann’s name on the move before this years deadline.
9.) Luke Kunin (CBJ)
Previous Ranking: 24
Contract Status: final year at $2.75 Million
Stats: 11-7-18 in 61GP
Position: C,RW
Age: 27
2 landing spots: Toronto and Florida
Analysis: another Shark in the final year of his contract who seems to be on his way out of San Jose is bottom six forward Luke Kunin, now Kunin is a solid bottom six forward who at times in his career has been a solid middle six forward and can play on the wing as well as at Center, now with the Sharks quite a bit out of the playoffs it would make sense for them to move Kunin as he isn’t overly expensive and could work on many playoff teams 3rd lines and help provide some depth scoring for those teams, so we will have to wait and see but I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if we did see Kunin get dealt before the deadline.
10.) Dylan Cozens (OTT)
Previous Ranking: 5
Contract Status: this year plus 5 more at $7.1 Million
Stats: 11-19-30 in 58GP
Position: C,RW
Age: 23
2 landing spots: Detroit and Calgary
Analysis: a unlikely trade candidate here is Dylan Cozens who at the start of the year I would’ve said is absolutely not getting dealt but now there is a definite possibility he could be dealt at some point, Cozens is a solid and cost controlled 2C for Buffalo who’s production has decreased the past few seasons, and that coupled with the slow start from Buffalo this year has led a lot of people to think that Cozens may be on his way out of Buffalo and if they can get a different type of forward in return in a potential hockey trade, then there is a possibility that we could see Cozens be dealt by the Sabres.
11.) Brad Marchand (FLO)
Previous Ranking: 1
Contract Status: final year at $6.13 Million
Stats: 21-26-47 in 61GP
Position: LW,C
Age: 36
2 landing spots: Vegas and Edmonton
Analysis: Marchand is a really skilled and annoying top six forward, he has been the heart and soul of the Bruins for quite some time and is their captain but with him in the finally year of his contract and the Bruins not doing well right now there has been speculation he could be one of the guys on the move and not only would a ton of playoff bound teams love to add a top 6 forward who can put up points and is hard to play against, but the return that the Bruins could get for him may be massive, so even though reports are saying he is now unlikely to get moved, maybe he could still be dealt.
12.) Brandon Tanev (WIN)
Previous Ranking: 10
Contract Status: final year at $3.5 Million
Stats: 9-8-17 in 59GP
Position: WIN
Age: 33
2 landing spots: Ottawa and Toronto
Analysis: earlier this offseason we saw a Tanev get traded, and now we may see another Tanev get dealt before the trade deadline and that is Brandon Tanev in Seattle, now Tanev is one of a few Kraken who are Pending UFA’s and and may wind up being dealt and the Kraken also have a plethora of forwards on their team and with them not doing overly well right now and Tanev being a good locker room presence and solid bottom six forward I think the Kraken will wind up moving him, as they could get a solid return and I feel a lot of teams would love to add a Tanev before the trade deadline.
13.) Rickard Rakell
Previous Ranking: 11
Contract Status: this year plus 3 more at $5 Million
Stats: 28-24-52 in 62GP
Position: WIN
Age: 31
2 landing spots: Columbus and Calgary
Analysis: now Rakell is another Penguin who is on the trade block, now the Penguins don’t have to move Rakell given the fact he is still signed for 3 years after this one and is being a solid top 6 forward for them in their current playoff chase, but Rakell has been a name who some teams have looked at as a potential trade option and I think a lot of teams would love to have a solid and cost controlled middle six forward who could put up 20-30 goals and be a force in the playoffs and although some think this may be more of a offseason move for Pittsburgh, I think there is still a very good chance he may be moved at the deadline if the right deal appears so we will have to wait and see.
14.) Chris Kreider
Previous Ranking: 6
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $6.5 Million
Stats: 17-4-21 in 48GP
Position: LW
Age: 33
2 landing spots: Colorado and Ottawa
Analysis: a surprise name here in Kreider, he is a former 50 goal scorer who knows who to put the puck in the net and is a solid net front presence, although he has been a staple in the Rangers top 6 he has been a name that has been mentioned as someone the Rangers are looking to move on from and with his goal scoring prowess, a lot of teams especially ones in need of scoring help would most likely want to trade for Kreider and I could see the Rangers get a hefty return because he still has term on his deal even though he has had a rather bad season.
15.) Noah Dobson
Previous Ranking: 4
Contract Status: final year at $4 Million
Stats: 6-18-24 in 48GP
Position: RD
Age: 25
2 landing spots: Vancouver and Edmonton
Analysis: one name that caught me completely off guard and is apparently in the rumour mill is young star defender Noah Dobson with the Islanders, now Dobson who is fresh off a 70 point season and has shown his offensive prowess and defensive abilities over the past few years and with him being young I thought NYI would keep him, but he is in the final year of his deal as a RFA and not too far away from being a UFA and it seems the Islanders may be open to moving him but only under the circumstance that they get a elite scorer, but with Dobson being a young top pair right side defender, I think there may actually be a possibility he could get dealt.
16.) Morgan Geekie
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: final year at $2 Million
Stats: 19-13-32 in 57GP
Position: C,LW
Age: 26
2 landing spots: Tampa and Utah
Analysis: now another Bruin who has been garnering a lot of trade interest from the trade market is pending RFA forward Morgan Geekie, now Geekie is having himself a career season as he is getting top 6 minutes and already has 30+ points and is on pace for 25+ goals, so Geekie is really doing well this year for the Bruins and with Boston on a downward trajectory and most likely being sellers and with the amount of teams who seem to have some major interest in adding a solid young forward like Geekie, it seems like he will indeed be moved by the Bruins and they could wind up getting a massive haul in return.
17.) Mario Ferraro
Previous Ranking: 16
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $3.25 Million
Stats: 5-6-11 in 61GP
Position: LD/RD
Age: 26
2 landing spots: Detroit and Winnipeg
Analysis: now a name that has been in the rumour mill for quite some time and may finally be dealt this year is Sharks defender Mario Ferraro, now Ferraro is a solid defensive defender and while he won’t put up many points, he is one of the better shutdown guys in the league and although the Sharks really do like him and he has been a solid defender for that team, he is only a year away from UFA status and lots of teams would live to add a 2nd pair shutdown defender for this year’s playoff run and next years, so with all that in mind I feel that we could very likely see a Ferraro trade before this years deadline.
18.) David Savard
Previous Ranking: 22
Contract Status: final year at $3.5 Million
Stats: 1-11-12 in 54GP
Position: RD
Age: 34
2 landing spots: Edmonton and Detroit
Analysis: now as we have said the Habs have a lot of potential trade candidates this year with a handful of players in the final year of their deals and one guy who may be a hit commodity at the deadline is David Savard, now Savard is a Pending UFA and a solid top 4 RD in Montreal and also one of their veteran leaders which is why the Canadiens have been reluctant to move on from him, but a ton of teams would have a lot of interest in a RD who can play on the 2nd-3rd pair and brings playoff experience and knows what it takes to win, I think the offers for Savard from some teams may entice the Canadiens to wind up moving on from Savard so I feel he is a likely trade candidate for the Habs.
19.) Ivan Provorov
Previous Ranking: 13
Contract Status: final year at $4.73 Million
Stats: 7-21-28 in 60GP
Position: LD
Age: 27
2 landing spots: Winnipeg and Detroit
Analysis: probably the top defender on the market and very likely one of the top free agent D-Men this year, Provorov is a player who’s name has come up multiple times this year in trade chatter and is a guy who could very likely be dealt all though a extension isn’t out of the realm of possibility, Provorov is a solid top 4 defender who could fit on most teams 2nd pair and is more defensive minded so teams who are looking for some defensive help may turn to Provorov and the return CBJ could get may force CBJ to move him even though they are in a playoff race.
20.) Alex Tuch
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $4.75 Million
Stats: 23-24-47 in 60GP
Position: RW
Age: 28
2 landing spots: Vegas and New Jersey
Analysis: a very unlikely trade candidate before this weeks trade deadline but one that has been heavily in the rumour mill is Sabres forward Alex Tuch, now at this point in time I’m sure everyone knows that the Sabres season has been a true fire this year and changes need to come and that has lead a lot of teams to check in on the availability of one of their top players in Alex Tuch, now Tuch is a Buffalo native and likes playing with the Sabres and has been one of their bright spots which is why they have been reluctant to move him, but in what has turned out to be a sellers market, they could get a massive haul and teams have been checking in, so I wouldn’t guarantee that he will be on the move prior to the deadline but with his name out their he finds his way on the trade board.
21.) Ryan Strome
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $5 Million
Stats: 9-26-35 in 59GP
Position: C,RW
Age: 31
2 landing spots: Washington and Vancouver
Analysis: now another Duck that seems to be coming up in trade rumours recently is another Duck that does have some term on his deal and that is Ryan Strome, now Strome has been a solid middle six forward in Anaheim the past few years and came be a solid 2nd or 3rd line player for a lot of teams and although the Ducks do not have to move him with Strome still having some term on his deal, I could still see some teams give the Ducks a decent enough deal that the Ducks could try and make a move and I think with the amount of teams that have interest Strome will be a name to watch out for over the next little while.
22.) Ryan O’Reilly
Previous Ranking: 17
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $4.5 Million
Stats: 14-22-26 in 57GP
Position: C
Age: 34
2 landing spots: Toronto and Minnesota
Analysis: so another intriguing Center who may be on the block and could be dealt before the deadline is Preds forward O’Reilly, now I think it is a bit surprising to here O’Reilly’s name in trade rumours only a year and a half after he signed with Nashville, but O’Reilly has term and playoff experience and that could be a valuable addition to a lot of teams and with the Predators in a bad spot right now and open to moving some players, I don’t feel it is out of the realm of possibility that if a team gave a good enough offer to Nashville, I think they would consider moving O’Reilly so that is why I put him on the board.
23.) John Gibson
Previous Ranking: 18
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $6.4 Million
Stats: 2.81 GAA and .911 SV% in 25GP
Position: G
Age: 31
2 landing spots: Carolina and Edmonton
Analysis: a goalie who has been speculated to be on the move for quite some time and yet hasn’t been is Ducks goalie John Gibson, now it seems that he has expressed his interest for a fresh start elsewhere because the Ducks are a rebuilding team and Dostal is sort of being the starter now, but he still hasn’t been moved yet, however with the Ducks most likely moving some player before this years deadline and with how well Dostal has played I could very well see Gibson get moved even though it may not be a return that they want before this years deadline.
24.) Justin Brazeau (MIN)
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: final year at $.775 Thousand
Stats: 10-10-20 in 57GP
Position: RW
Age: 27
2 landing spots: Ottawa and Montreal
Analysis: another Pending UFA in Boston who may be dealt in the very near future is Justin Brazeau, now Brazeau over the past few years has shown in Boston he can be a really serviceable 4th line forward and definitely be one of those rough and tumble forwards that plays playoff style hockey, but he is entering the final year of his deal at a very low cap hit that would make him a hot commodity around the deadline for playoff bound teams and with Boston looking like sellers this year, I feel like Brazeau will be moved in the near future.
25.) Max Domi
Previous Ranking: 37
Contract Status: this year plus 3 more at $3.75 Million
Stats: 4-20-24 in 53GP
Position: FOR
Age: 30
2 landing spots: Utah and Columbus
Analysis: now a bit of a surprising name to be hearing in trade rumours honestly is a guy who just inked a long term deal in the offseason and that is Leafs middle six forward Max Domi, now Domi was brought in as a deadline add last year before the deadline and fit in quite well with the team which made them sign him to a 4 year contract, but is hasn’t gone well this year as he has only put up 4 goal and was supposed to be a productive middle six guy, so with the Leafs in on some players and Domi not doing well some think he may be a cap casualty and may be a guy the Leafs move to get a upgrade and although I think that is unlikely it would definitely help the Leafs cap situation so we will have to watch out for Domi.
26.) Mattias Maccelli
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $3.43 Million
Stats: 8-10-18 in 52GP
Position: WIN
Age: 24
2 landing spots: Carolina and Columbus
Analysis: now another Utah player who actually has term on his deal but is a guy the Utah team seems to be open to moving for the right price is Mattias Maccelli, now Maccelli had a great year last year in Arizona and really carved himself out a solid role in the top 6, but this year in Utah he has fallen out of favour as some of the younger players have surpassed him and pushed him out of a spot in the lineup, so that has lead a few insiders to mention that Utah could move him and with Maccelli still rather young and a player who can put up some points, I wouldn’t be surprised if he got dealt.
27.) K’Andre Miller
Previous Ranking: 20
Contract Status: final year at $3.87 Million
Stats: 5-10-15 in 54GP
Position: LD
Age: 24
2 landing spots: Anaheim and Vancouver
Analysis: a Ranger who has been mentioned this year as potentially being on the block and could be dealt is pending RFA defender Miller, now we know that Trouba has already been moved by NYR so I am not sure if they want to subtract another defender and on top of that Miller had a solid year last season and is still on the younger side, but some people think with Miller having arb rights a contract extension in the offseason might be difficult for the Rangers to do and with his value still quite high the Rangers may prefer to move him now instead of extending him so we will have to wait and see but a ton of teams would probably want a guy like Miller for a playoff run and as a young defender to grow with his new team.
28.) Josh Norris (BUF)
Previous Ranking: 24
Contract Status: this year plus 5 more at $7.95 Million
Stats: 19-12-31 in 51GP
Position: C
Age: 25
2 landing spots: Vancouver and CBJ
Analysis: now one Senator who may wind up getting moved and has been talked about a lot this year is Josh Norris, now Norris has actually been having a relatively good season already having nearly 20 goals and also staying healthy for a big chunk of the year, but the last few years haven’t been good for Norris in Ottawa and there has been talk that the Sen’s would like to move on from his cap hit, now he is still on the young side and can be a solid 2C or 3C on many teams and strengthen a team down the middle, and I think still has some solid upside, so although I think Ottawa should keep Norris at least for this year, it sounds like a trade could very likely happen before the deadline.
29.) Rasmus Ristolainen
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $5.1 Million
Stats: 4-15-19 in 59GP
Position: RD
Age: 30
2 landing spots: Winnipeg and Detroit
Analysis: now another Flyer player with term that has been mentioned could be dealt before this years trade deadline is top 4 right side defensemen Rasmus Ristolainen, now Ristolainen was in the rumour mill dating back to last year as it seems that teams would really love a defensive upgrade with a skilled defender who plays on the right side and has offensive capabilities, but the Flyers know this and have put quite a high price tag on Ristolainen right now which may have forced teams to look elsewhere but given how good he has produced and his contract, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone did wind up trading for Ristolainen.
30.) Carson Soucy (NYR)
Previous Ranking: 35
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $3.25 Million
Stats: 2-7-9 in 58GP
Position: LD
Age: 30
2 landing spots: Montreal and Detroit
Analysis: now another Canuck who seems to have been boxed out on the blueline is solid 2nd pair defender Carson Soucy, now Soucy had a pretty solid year last year in his first with the Canucks and has also been a solid defensive defender this year for Vancouver but after the Canucks acquired Marcus Pettersson and with the emergence of defender Elias Pettersson Soucy has sort of fallen out of favour on the left side of the blueline and with the Canucks not wanting to play him on his off side, that has made him a trade candidate, so there is a likely possibility that we could see Soucy get moved by the Canucks before the deadline especially if it helped them get a forward upgrade.
31.) Kyle Palmieri
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: final year at $5 Million
Stats: 20-21-41 in 61GP
Position: WIN
Age: 34
2 landing spots: Los Angeles and New Jersey
Analysis: now another intriguing pending UFA that may wind up being dealt by the deadline is veteran winger Kyle Palmieri in New York, now Palmieri over the past few seasons has actually been a very consistent 20 goal scorer in the Islanders organization and for most teams in the Islanders position which looks like they will miss the playoffs and they don’t have a whole bunch of draft capital or a deep prospect pool it would almost guarantee a trade, but Luo likes to keep his players in New York and even though they look like they will miss he may keep him, but the returns he could get for him may wind up tipping the scales in the direction of a trade.
32.) Joel Armia
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: final year at $3.4 Million
Stats: 10-14-24 in 61GP
Position: RW
Age: 31
2 landing spots: Columbus and Utah
Analysis: now a player who has been in the rumour mill for a while now and with his contract coming to a end may actually get dealt this year is Habs bottom six forward Joel Armia, now Armia over the past few years has now fit in with the Canadiens and that contract they signed him too has looked bad as they even placed him on waivers last year, but this year he made the NHL squad and has actually had a pretty decent season and if the Habs retained half of his cap hit and made him a under $2 Million dollar player I have a feeling a lot of playoff teams would be interested in a 3rd or 4th line forward who can provide depth scoring and help on the PK, so keep your eye on Armia before the deadline.
33.) Casey Mittlestadt (BOS)
Previous Ranking: 28
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $5.75 Million
Stats: 10-23-33 in 61GP
Position: C
Age: 26
2 landing spots: Toronto and New Jersey
Analysis: now a intriguing name on this list is a player who was dealt at least years deadline but who I think not many were expecting to be back on the trade block again so soon and that is Casey Mittlestadt, now Mittlestadt was acquired last year by Colorado from Buffalo to be the teams 2C and replace Newhook, but while he did quite well to finish out last year, this year has been a entirely different story as he has struggled to be the teams 2C and while he has shown flashes some feel that the Av’s will move him to get a more immediate upgrade and while he hasn’t had a good year, he is still young and could be a solid 2 or 3 C on a lot of teams and because of that I feel he will get moved by the deadline.
34.) Brandon Carlo (TOR)
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $4.1 Million
Stats: 1-8-9 in 62GP
Position: RD
Age: 28
2 landing spots: Detroit and Calgary
Analysis: now a surprising name that seems to have been picking up steam recently in Boston is one of their players who actually has term on his contract and that is Brandon Carlo, now Carlo is a very solid defensive minded defender who plays on the right side, has a good frame and can play on basically any teams 2nd pair, so this makes him a valuable asset for teams to try and acquire, now Carlo has term and has been a really good piece of the Bruins blueline so I wouldn’t be surprised if they held on to him beyond the deadline, but with the amount of interest there is right now he makes my trade bait board as a potential candidate.
35.) Evander Kane
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $5.25 Million
Stats: 0-0-0 in 0GP
Position: LW
Age: 33
2 landing spots: Utah and Columbus
Analysis: now a Oiler who seems to have his time in Edmonton limited is hard hitting middle six forward Evander Kane, now Kane just has his NTC modified to a 16 team one so he could be dealt easier now then before, but he hasn’t played a game this year due to injuries and still has 1 more season left on his deal which may deter teams away from him, but the Oilers want some cap flexibility and the easiest way to do that would be to move Kane and his entire cap hit so he may not be moved but he is debuting on my trade board.
36.) Ville Heinola
Previous Ranking: 28
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $.800 Thousand
Stats: 0-1-1 in 17GP
Position: LD/RD
Age: 23
2 landing spots: Philly and Anaheim
Analysis: now a young player who is in desperate need of a fresh start to go somewhere else is young defender in Winnipeg Ville Heinola, now Heinola was a 1RD pick back in the 2019 draft and actually got a short stint at the NHL level right away and showed a lot of promise but since then has either been stuck in the AHL or been dealing with injuries and hasn’t been able to show his best in the NHL at this point, so after only playing in 16 NHL games so far this year a fresh start may be in the cards for Heinola as he is still a solid prospect who can be right now a 6-7 D and could eventually be a 2nd pair D-Men and I think in a different organization he could blossom, so we will have to see but after a injury riddled career so far a fresh start may help out Heinola.
37.) Luke Schenn (WIN)
Previous Ranking: 31
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $2.75 Million
Stats: 1-4-5 in 60GP
Position: RD
Age: 35
2 landing spots: Vancouver and Toronto
Analysis: now we have a second Schenn on the Trade bait board and the is Luke Schenn in Nashville, now Schenn is a solid top 4 right shot defensemen with playoff experience and he knows what it takes to win which is why he has drawn so much interest but he isn’t in the final year of his contract and the Predators have really liked what he has brought to their blueline so a Trade may not be so simple but I feel with teams wanting a solid top 4 D and teams calling to try and reunite the Schenn bros I feel the offers may be too good to refuse and Schenn will get dealt by the Predators.
38.) Anthony Beauvillier (WAS)
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: final year at $1.25 Million
Stats: 13-7-20 in 62GP
Position: WIN
Age: 27
2 landing spots: Los Angeles and St.Louis
Analysis: now another Penguin in the final year of his deal who may wind up getting dealt before the deadline is Anthony Beauvillier, now Beauvillier is a solid middle six forward who has done alright this year in Pittsburgh but the season hasn’t gone the way the Penguins want to and with Beauvillier being a pending UFA there is a very strong likelihood that the Penguins will try and move him before the deadline and I feel he is a strong trade candidate and even though I don’t see the Penguins getting more then a third for him, I still expect him to be on the move.
39.) Lian Bichsel
Previous Ranking: 30
Contract Status: this year plus 2 more at $.918 Thousand
Stats: 2-3-5 in 18GP
Position: LD
Age: 20
2 landing spots: San Jose and Buffalo
Analysis: and a surprising name that is on my Trade bait board is a Stars youngster Lian Bichsel, now Bichsel is probably a top 3 prospect in the Stars system and could be a valuable trade chip should the Stars target someone who is on the bigger side of things, now Bichsel has gotten into a few NHL games this year and hasn’t looked half bad and the Stars don’t have a abundance of solid D prospects so I wouldn’t be shocked if they kept him but he may also be the teams best trade chip so it will be interesting to see but I feel Bichsel may be a underrated trade chip for the Stars.
40.) Vladimir Tarasenko
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $4.75 Million
Stats: 1-14-15 in 59GP
Position: WIN
Age: 33
2 landing spots: Ottawa and Florida
Analysis: now a name of the Red Wings roster that seems to be floating out there right now as a cap casualty and change of scenery guy with Vlad Tarasenko, now Tarasenko is a pretty good middle six forward and helped the Panthers win the Cup last year, but after signing a 2 year deal in the offseason the fit hasn’t been there with Detroit and that has lead some people to speculate that the Red Wings may try and move him, now he is on quite a expensive deal but is still a decent goal scorer and could help out a lot of teams, so although I don’t think it is a guarantee he gets moved, we will have to keep out eye on him.
41.) Simon Nemec
Previous Ranking: 26
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $.918 Thousand
Stats: 0-1-1 in 14GP
Position: RD
Age: 21
2 landing spots: Buffalo and Chicago
Analysis: now a young player who is quite interesting to see on the trade bait board is former 2nd overall pick Simon Nemec, now Nemec is a solid defensemen with a bright future but has mostly been a AHL player this year and earlier in the year voiced his displeasure still playing in the AHL while some of his draft classmates are playing solid NHL roles and that has lead to some thinking is is possible he could be dealt, now I think it is too early to move on from him, but if New Jersey made him available it could be a big trade chip they could use to get a upgrade for this current season so we will have to wait and see if the Devils do wind up moving him.
42.) David Perron
Previous Ranking: NR
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $4 Million
Stats: 2-3-5 in 22GP
Position: WIN
Age: 36
2 landing spots: Columbus and Detroit
Analysis: now another Senator who may find himself on his way out of Ottawa in the very near future is offseason add and veteran forward David Perron, now Perron has had trouble staying healthy due to injuries this year and with him making $4 Million and the Senators tight against the cap, Perron May wind up being a cap casualty and could find himself out of Ottawa come the deadline and even though he hasn’t been great this year, I feel some teams may value his experience he brings so we will have to wait and see but keep an eye out for a David Perron trade as it is very likely to come.
43.) Jeremy Lauzon
Previous Ranking: 27
Contract Status: this year plus 1 more at $2 Million
Stats: 0-1-1 in 28GP
Position: LD/RD
Age: 27
2 landing spots: Vancouver and Utah
Analysis: now a Predators player who could be moved is Jeremy Lauzon on their backend, now the Predators have said that they would rather keep Lauzon because of his role on their team as a solid 3rd pair guy and he was recently injured, but lots of teams seem to be checking in on him as he would improve many teams 3rd pairs, plays playoff style hockey and is signed for this year and next at a reasonable cap hit and even though he isn’t the greatest offensive weapon, a lot of teams would love to add him and part of me thinks even though they would rather keep him, the offers may wind up convincing the Predators to move him by the deadline.
