Rantanen being flipped?

 Carolina actually considering flipping Rantanen?

In this blog post we are looking at the Carolina Hurricanes as according to Elliotte Friedman on his recent podcast he was talking about Mikko Rantanen and he says that if there isn't a contract in place by the deadline, there is still a possibility the Canes could wind up flipping Mikko Rantanen at this year's trade deadline.

Now we talked about this before as I think there was a report from Nick Kypreos a couple of weeks back saying that if Mikko Rantanen is not extended, the Canes wouldn’t want a repeat situation of last year when they had Jake Guentzel and he walked as a free agent, so they might be open to flipping him according to Elliotte Friedman as it's a possibility.

Now it sounds like they may try and still sign him as they have a couple of weeks still do so, but if we get to like March 5th or March 6th and there's still no indication on if Rantanen has signed or not, I think there's a very likely possibility we could see the Canes flip him, now with the return that the Avalanche got for Rantanen which was a solid young player in Necas, a younger type player maybe more of a prospect guy in Drury, a second and a seventh round pick as well could the Carolina Hurricanes pull off some sort of deal that gets them similar things in return, I think it is possible, once again not exactly sure what teams would have interest, but I think there would be a ton of teams who would have major interest in Rantanen should he be potentially on the market again and be flipped by Carolina.

So we're going to have to wait and see on that as a Rantanen extension would be extremely important to Carolina and if they don't get that in the next couple of weeks there's a possibility out there we could see the canes flip Rantanen for something else, so we're going to have to keep our eye on that, but keep your eye on Rantanen as potentiality if his extension doesn't come in before the March 7th trade deadline he could be flipped by Carolina at some point so we'll have to wait and see if the Canes do wind up doing that.
