Leafs trying to add Parayko.
Just a quick hit here but we know the Leafs are trying to add some blueliners to this team as there defense is definitely subpar right now and will need to improve if they want to have any sort of playoff success this year, and I know we have heard names like Walker, Tanev and even Hanifin to some extent, but another name that I have seen pop up and could be a good add not just for this year but the future to would be Colton Parayko.
Now the Blues are in a playoff spot right now and there is now guarantee that they will be sellers by the deadline, but we know that if GM Doug Armstrong doesn't view his team as one that could go deep in the playoffs, then he would be open to making moves and selling a few pieces, and one of the places they were rumored to make moves but never did this offseason was the backend as I think for the right price they would still consider moving Parayko, Krug or Scandella, and I do think Parayko would be a solid top 4 D add for a lot of teams although his term would be complicated for teams to add, but I do see the Blues right now being open to moving a guy like Parayko.

And with their holes on the blueline I wouldn't be shocked if Toronto did have interest in adding a solid top 4 D like Parayko, now we have heard that the Leafs are hesitant on moving their 1st round pick this year for a rental, but Parayko is a guy with term and given that fact I would think Toronto would be open to moving their 1st if it got them Parayko. Now I still feel even for Parayko they wouldn't want to move Minten or Cowan as they are really high on those guys but 3 prospects I could see Toronto look at possibly dealing would be Ovchinnikov who looks to be a future top 9 forward, Abruzesse who has had a fantastic season in the AHL and seems to be a future top 9 forward or Niemela who is probably the teams best D prospect and would definitely have some interest by St.Louis, so I could see the Leafs move one of those 3 and maybe in order to balance out the cap they move Brodie too, so I could see the Leafs give up their 2024 1st, one of those 3 prospects and Brodie for Parayko and I think that would be enough to definitely intrigue St.Louis and these two have made trades with each other in the past (most recently last year with O'Reilly) and it would also shake up that D-Corp there while give the Leafs a solid top 4 D to help them now and in the future to.
So I would love to hear your thoughts on this, does it make sense for the Leafs to try and pursue Parayko as a D upgrade or do you think it would cost too much, I would love to hear your thoughts down below.
