Could the Oilers add a former Oiler in Eberle from Seattle before the deadline.
We have another potential trade to discuss here and this one has a team looking to add a familiar player as we know the Oilers are currently looking for help up front and are looking to improve their top six and although a lot of people think that Guentzel is option one, he may not be moved and if that is the case then maybe adding a former Oilers who is currently in rival Seattle right now in Jordan Eberle would make some sense for the Oilers.
Now starting with the Kraken, just like some of the recent blog posts we did regarding Parayko in St.Louis and Novak in Nashville, there is no guarantee that Eberle will be moved by the Kraken as they are still in a playoff race although it is looking more and more likely that they will be sellers before the trade deadline, now Eberle is a guy the Kraken would love to sign as he is a original member of the Kraken and has been a great top 6 winger for them and if they could get him on a extension and keep him I think they would, but there has been no announcement of a signing with Eberle and the Kraken are falling out of the playoff race so there is a very likely chance UFA's Schultz on the backend, Wennberg up the middle and even top six forward Eberle all get moved and it would definitely take a huge package to get Eberle as he is coming off his best season point wise since the 14-15 season last year when he had 63 points, and already has 35 points this year, so it would take a lot but I do think there is a strong chance he could be moved.
Now on the Oilers side they have had a very up and down season as they got off to a bad start no one was expecting, and then flipped the script and went on a tear including a 16 game winning streak before the all star break and even though they have slowed down since then, they are still 10 points above the playoff line and are in position to once again make the playoffs, so there is a very likely chance they add before the deadline and although earlier in the year everyone thought they would get a goalie, Skinner has actually done well and I am not ruling them out from adding a depth goalie, it isn't going to be a major addition, and after their loss to Vegas a few weeks ago it seemed like they started to target forwards to help them improve up front, now it does sound like they would love to add Guentzel from Pittsburgh, but not only is there no guarantee he moves, but also there are a lot of teams interested so Edmonton is not guaranteed to get him, so they may look to add a different forward and that is where Eberle comes in, now like we said, Eberle is coming off a solid season with the Kraken and although he isn't as young and doesn't have the scoring upside that Guentzel has, he does have familiarity with the Oilers and might be able to slot in as a solid winger for Draisaitl, so although he isn't plan A, he may very well be a solid plan B and I think the Oilers would be all over him.

Now what may a trade package look like if it were to happen, well like we said although it isn't a guarantee that he gets moved I think it is likely and with the familiarity with the organization I think they would have lots of interest in him as a plan B, but as for the return I could see the Oilers dealing their 24 2RD pick, not any of their best prospects like Bourgault or Broberg, bur maybe a B level prospect like Savoie, Lavoie or Tuillo and then maybe another pick like a 3RD or 4TH would maybe be enough to pry Eberle from Seattle and although it is quite a lot, Eberle would significantly improve the Oilers forward group.
So I would love to hear your thoughts on my trade proposal in the comments below, do you see the Kraken moving Eberle and if so could a team like the Oilers have interest and what would you think the return could be, love to hear about it and don't forget to stay tuned for more blog posts.
