End to End Hockey Free Agent list.
Welcome back everyone, sorry I took so long to do another Blog post but I focused more on my YouTube channel over the past week, and speaking of the past week, we are now a week and a half into free agency and my original End to End Hockey Free agent list had took a big blow, as of the 50 free agents I had on my original list, only 12 players still weren’t signed, so I was able to make a new list that included the 12 players who had not signed from my previous board and also included 13 new players who are still UFA’s at the making of this list, so I hope everyone likes the End to End Hockey’s now 25 player free agent list and let me know in the comments who I might have missed out on and who you would have also put in.
Note* list was made before the Zadina signing in San Jose early Monday July 10th.
End to End Hockey top 25 free agent list.
1.) Vladimir Tarasenko
Previous Ranking: (8)
Stats: 18-32-50 in 69 games played
Position: RW
Age: 31
Potential landing spots: Carolina, Ottawa, New York I
Quick Analysis: Tarasenko is probably the best free agent out there, coming off a not too productive season, the former 30 and 40 goal scorer should be able to get a decent contract to work in a teams top 6 as a lethal goal scorer.
2.) Matt Dumba
Previous Ranking: (5)
Stats: 4-10-14 in 79 games played
Position: RD
Age: 28
Potential landing spots: Arizona, San Jose, Buffalo
Quick Analysis: now Dumba is probably the best defensemen available and definitely the one with the most offensive potential, but he had a pretty down year in production and his best bet would be to sign with a lower end team like Arizona or San Jose for a year, where he can get a bigger role and prove he is still a lethal force on the offensive side.
3.) Filip Zadina
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 3-4-7 in 30 games played
Position: RW,LW
Age: 23
Potential landing spots: Minnesota, Arizona, Edmonton
Quick Analysis: Zadina had his contract terminated with the Red Wings as they couldn’t find a trade for him and teams didn’t want to take on his cap hit, but he is still a good forward with middle six potential in my opinion and if he can get a consistent top 6 role with a team I think he could thrive and show he is still a really good player.
4.) Jonathan Toews
Previous Ranking: (14)
Stats: 15-16-31 in 53 games played
Position: C
Age: 35
Potential landing spots: Winnipeg, Boston, Minnesota
Quick Analysis: there is a lot of talk right now that it sounds like Toews will most likely retire and will likely call his career quits, but I do think maybe a team who is in a good position could persuade him to take a 1 year deal that isn’t to expensive to help out their bottom six.
5.) Patrick Kane
Previous Ranking: (23)
Stats: 21-36-57 in 73 games played
Position: RW
Age: 34
Potential landing spots: New York I, New York R, Buffalo
Quick Analysis: so it seems like the teams who are still the most interested in Kane are the teams in and around the New York area, but at the moment Kane is recovering from offseason surgery and will likely miss the first few month of the season, so with that in mind it makes sense that we may have to wait a while for him to sign.
6.) Tomas Tatar
Previous Ranking: (30)
Stats: 20-28-48 in 82 games played
Position: LW,RW
Age: 32
Potential landing spots: Ottawa, New York I, Vegas
Quick Analysis: Tatar is coming off a solid season playing in the Devils middle six last year and for teams who miss out on signing Tarasenko, they could loop back to Tatar as he is still a solid player who I think could take a one year deal to make a team better for next year.
7.) Ethan Bear
Previous Ranking: (43)
Stats: 3-13-16 in 61 games played
Position: RD
Age: 26
Potential landing spots: Philadelphia, Arizona, Anaheim
Quick Analysis: now Bear was dealt to Vancouver in-season last year and did really well as a top 4 defender, but his qualifying offer and offseason injury that will keep him out the first few months of the season lead the Canucks to not qualify him this season, so I could see him sign closer to the season but he could be a solid addition for a team looking to improve their defensive game.
8.) Dennis Gurianov
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 7-10-17 in 66 games played
Position: RW,LW
Age: 26
Potential landing spots: Arizona, Washington, Montreal
Quick Analysis: Now Gurianov was not on my original list, but he is a solid middle six forward when he plays consistently and I think on the right contract could be a under the radar pickup for a team.
9.) Pius Suter
Previous Ranking: (31)
Stats: 14-10-24 in 79 games played
Position: C,LW
Age: 27
Potential landing spots: Arizona, Philadelphia , Nashville
Quick Analysis: after a solid season in Chicago, Suter had had a very productive last couple of years in Detroit and even though he had played mostly in the bottom six for the Wings, I think he could be a good pickup as a 3C for a team looking for some help down the middle.
10.) Patrice Bergeron
Previous Ranking: (28)
Stats: 27-31-58 in 78 games played
Position: C
Age: 37
Potential landing spots: Boston, Retire
Quick Analysis: quite simply it is Bruins or bust for Bergeron, as the long time Bruin May wind up retiring this offseason, but there is also a chance he maybe takes a cheap one year deal to play one final season in Boston but don’t expect him to go anywhere else.
11.) Oskar Sundqvist
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 10-18-28 in 67 games played
Position: RW,C
Age: 29
Potential landing spots: Calgary, Vegas, Chicago
Quick Analysis: the big forward had a very productive season playing in the Red Wings bottom six and I think he could wind up being a very valuable player to add to a teams bottom six, so for the right contract he should be a solid bottom six forward addition.
12.) Max Comtois
Previous Ranking: (34)
Stats: 9-10-19 in 64 games played
Position: LW
Age: 24
Potential landing spots: Dallas, Vancouver, Calgary
Quick Analysis: after having a poor couple of seasons following a fantastic shortened season, Comtois wasn’t qualified by the Ducks, however I think on the right contract and in the right place to find his scoring abilities, Comtois could be a solid addition and maybe fit in to a teams middle six.
13.) Cal Foote
Previous Ranking: (44)
Stats: 2-5-7 in 50 games played
Position: RD
Age: 24
Potential landing spots: Vancouver, Colorado, Seattle
Quick Analysis: now the former 1st round pick back in 2017 was a solid 3rd pair defensemen over the past couple of years but wasn’t qualified by Nashville with their deep defence, but I do think for a team still needing some blueline help to the team, Foote could be a solid addition to compete for a 3rd pair role in training camp.
14.) Tyler Motte
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 8-11-19 in 62 games played
Position: LW,RW
Age: 28
Potential landing spots: New York R, Calgary, Buffalo
Quick Analysis: now Motte has once again not resigned with the Rangers after they acquired him for the second straight year at the deadline, but he has showed how valuable of a 4th line forward he can be these past couple of years and I think that it is extremely likely that if a team is still looking for a depth forward, they could go after Motte if the price works for them.
15.) Caleb Jones
Previous Ranking: (49)
Stats: 4-12-16 in 73 games played
Position: LD/RD
Age: 26
Potential landing spots: Philadelphia, Arizona, Los Angeles
Quick Analysis: now I think it caught a few people by surprise when there was mention that Chicago wouldn’t retain Caleb Jones who is the brother of Hawks defender Seth Jones, but I do think that Caleb Jones is still a solid NHL defender and on a team where he can run with a 3rd pair role, I think he could do fantastic in my opinion.
16.) Noah Gregor
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 10-7-17 in 57 games played
Position: LW,RW
Age: 24
Potential landing spots: Calgary, Boston, Tampa Bay
Quick Analysis: now Gregor has turned into a solid bottom six forward over the past few years in San Jose but wasn’t qualified by them this offseason which meant he became a UFA, but I think on the right deal Gregor could be a solid addition for a team.
17.) Simon Benoit
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 3-7-10 in 78 games played
Position: LD
Age: 24
Potential landing spots: Dallas, Calgary, Montreal
Quick Analysis: now I think this was a under the radar player who wasn’t qualified as Benoit actually had some pretty good games last year in Anaheim and was a solid defensive defender and for a team who is really looking for a player to play on their 3rd pair, I think Benoit might be a guy they look at.
18.) Tomas Nosek
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 7-11-18 in 66 games played
Position: C,LW
Age: 30
Potential landing spots: Edmonton, Boston, Minnesota
Quick Analysis: now for Nosek, he has showed over the past couple of seasons that he is a solid 4th line Center and did quite well last year in Boston, but they couldn’t afford him so for a team still looking for a solid 4th line Center I think they would definitely look at Nosek.
19.) Travis Dermott
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 1-0-1 in 11 games played
Position: LD/RD
Age: 26
Potential landing spots: Edmonton, New York I, Philadelphia
Quick Analysis: now Dermott has been a solid defender the past couple of years in Vancouver and Toronto but was really banged up last year, only getting into a handful of games which lead to Vancouver not qualifying him, but in my eyes he is still a solid bottom pair defensemen and a team who needs some defensive help could look to add him.
20.) Austin Watson
Previous Ranking: (47)
Stats: 9-2-11 in 75 games played
Position: RW,LW
Age: 31
Potential landing spots: Dallas, Minnesota, Colorado
Quick Analysis: after a couple of really solid seasons in Ottawa, the Sens and Watson parted ways as they couldn’t come to terms on a new deal, but Watson is still that physical hard to play against 4th line forward and for a team looking to add vite to their lineup, I think he could be a solid addition for that team.
21.) Martin Jones
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 27-13-3 .887 SV% and 2.99 GAA in 48 games played
Position: G
Age: 33
Potential landing spots: Vancouver, Tampa Bay, Buffalo
Quick Analysis: now Jones I think is the best goalie out their one the free agent market right now and while I don’t think he would be more then a backup goalie at this point in time, there are a couple teams who could use a backup goalie and some who I think could try and sign a guy like Jones.

22.) Jesper Boqvist
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 10-11-21 in 70 games played
Position: FOR
Age: 24
Potential landing spots: Boston, Philadelphia, Columbus
Quick Analysis: now Boqvist was another player I was surprised didn’t get a qualifying offer, but he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a solid NHL forward at this point in time but with the right club I could see him be a solid 3rd or 4th line forward.
23.) Josh Bailey
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 8-17-25 in 64 games played
Position: FOR
Age: 33
Potential landing spots: Boston, Vegas, St.Louis
Quick Analysis: Bailey was moved by NYI and bought out by the Hawks and I think that was the right move as he isn’t a $5 Million dollar player, but I think for a younger team who could use some veteran help and could sign Bailey to the right price, I think Bailey could be a solid bottom six forward.
24.) Phil Kessel
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 14-22-36 in 82 games played
Position: RW
Age: 35
Potential landing spots: Tampa Bay, Vegas, Calgary
Quick Analysis: after playing in all 82 games in the regular season, the Ironman streak leader is looking for another place to play and I think if a team were to be willing to keep him in the bottom six, I think Kessel could be a solid addition.
25.) Nick Ritchie
Previous Ranking: (NR)
Stats: 13-13-26 in 74 games played
Position: LW
Age: 27
Potential landing spots: Edmonton, Vegas, New York R
Quick Analysis: after a hot start to last season, Ritchie would cool off and be a bottom six forward to finish the season in Calgary, but I could still see Ritchie be a pretty good 3rd line contributor on a contending team and I could see him be a solid addition for a team.
