Some asking prices are set, two young 2017 first round picks to be traded and problems in Anaheim

 NHL trade rumours and News

A couple of recent signings

Toronto signed two players today bringing back Kyle Clifford on a 2 year deal at $.762 Thousand dollars per year to remain with the Leafs in a bottom 6 role, Carl Dahlstrom signed a one year deal worth $.750 Thousand dollars and will continue to be a depth piece in the Maple Leafs organization, and on top of this Nashville has signed undrafted free agent Left Winger Navrin Mutter to a 3 year entry level contract with a AAV of $.776 Thousand dollars per year and he will continue to develop his game for Nashville.

Ducks working hard on a Lindholm extension, haven’t talked about a extension with Manson yet.

Anaheim has been trying to get at least on of their top UFA D-Men resigned and it seems that they have a preference. There are plenty of reports that the Ducks are really pushing all of their chips right now at resigning Hampus Lindholm. Now Lindholm has been the best Ducks defensemen for a while now and a lot of teams see him as not only the best rental Defensemen but also the bust UFA Defensemen so acquiring him would be nice for a contender but the Ducks are going to try to resign him first and they are a bit scared to give him a lot of term but if they can get him signed he ain’t going nowhere but if they don’t then expect him to be traded and go to resign their other defensemen. Apparently Manson and the Ducks have not had any contract extension talks yet and that is probably because they are heavily interested in signing Lindholm but if they can’t get him signed them they would probably go to Manson to talk about a extension. It seems Manson is more interested in a extension then Lindholm and it probably wouldn’t take to much to get a extension in place but I think that they would move him if they get a extension with Lindholm and being a player that has been in the rumour mill over the past few years it makes sense to me that they would move him but the Ducks really need at least one signed by the deadline.

Jack McBain, Dominik Kubalik and Mark Giordano have their asking prices set

There are a few players who have been mentioned in recent trade chatter to be possibly on the move and their asking prices have been revealed. First up Mark Giordano with the Kraken has had a okay season in his first away from Calgary and as the Krakens captain, but the Kraken are not going to be a plY team this year and they will definitely be looking to trade him. Moving his cap hit which is above $6.5 Million would not be easy but there could be a lot more takers if Seattle retained some salary and the current asking price is believed to be at least a 1RD pick in any deal now Giordano is a good third pair D-Men with experience but I personally see the asking price as to high and maybe a second would be better. Secondly Dominik Kubalik with the Blackhawks has been reportedly being considered to be moved and it is just a tad surprising. Kubalik is a former 30 goal scorer and would help any team in the offensive game and is need a new contract at the end of this year so a team wouldn’t only get him for this year but possibly multiple seasons and the apparent asking price is a second round pick now on my eyes that ain’t half bad for a guy who is young and could fit in a teams locker rom well and is a former 30 goal scorer so if that is the asking price I do expect him to be moved. And finally the Wild have a unsigned prospect in Jack McBain who has played at a very high level in college but might want to go a free agent route instead of sticking around with the Wild so it is definitely possible that he might be traded given they could lose him for nothing and this is not the same but similar to what happened with Adam Fox when he wouldn’t sign with Carolina and they traded him to New York R for draft Picks so is seems the Wild want a 2RD pick for him which isn’t bad value and if a team wants a young player they might have to cough up this draft pick.

Jacob Middleton is receiving a lot of interest

According to Pierre LeBrun on Insider Trading the Sharks are getting some interest in a surprising player. Middleton has been a welcome addition to the Sharks blue line this season mostly playing with Karlsson in the top 4 and has been one of the better rookies on the season putting up three goals and five assists for eight points this season. He does currently have the potential to become a group 6 UFA so that might scare of the Sharks if they don’t think that they can resign him and some playoff teams looking for a 3rd pair physical defensemen are currently calling and some of the teams mentioned were the Blues, Lightning and Bruins so with him drawing interest keep an eye on the situation as we draw nearer to the deadline.

Mackenzie Blackwood is being shopped by the Devils

A surprising report caught my eye today as the Devils could be looking to move on from young goalie Blackwood. The Devils have had goalie problems for a couple of years now but it has usually been due to the fact that they can’t keep a decent backup goalie and this year is no different with Bernier being injured but this year Blackwood has also been injured but could near a return soon, he hasn’t had the best of seasons this year having a 3.29 GAA and a .894 SV% in 23 games this year and if he isn’t playing he’s best then maybe they should be looking elsewhere for goalie help but I do like Blackwood and even though he has had a bad year I think at the very least he could be a 1B option and I would be disappointed if he got traded.

Max Domi is garnering a lot of trade interest

The Blue Jackets have a uphill battle ahead of them to get into the playoffs and while I don’t see them shipping out you get players like Texier or Laine  I do think that they will move some pending UFA’s and Max Domi is at the top of the list. Domi has the rest of this season at $5.3 Million dollars which would be hard for most teams to take on but if they can retain some salary I do believe they would get more interest and more of a return. Domi has definitely played better this year then last as he has 28 points in 47 games this season having 4 more points in 6 less games so he would definitely have some interest and I would expect him to be moved by the deadline for sure.

Teams are still calling on Brandon Hagel

Their are still teams that have legitimate Interest in Blackhawks forward Hagel. Brandon Hagel has played amazingly this season as a young player putting up a astounding 33 points in 52 games played this season and he is a very young player signed for this year and two more at a really cheap contract of $1.5 million. Now he is young enough that the Blackhawks could keep him instead of trading him because he definitely could fit in their rebuild and bot trading him is what I think they should do but they do have a enormous asking price of at least a first round pick and another item so if they were to get that then yeah I could see him being traded but I think Chicago should really ask the question of do they want to trade him.

Both Owen Tippett and Gabriel Vilardi the 10th and 11th picks in the 2017 draft will both be traded by the deadline

This isn’t any rumour but this is something that I personally see happening before the deadline. First Tippett with Florida has had a up and down season this year. After looking like a full time NHL player last year and taking a top six role beside Huberdeau in his first full NHL season, he has not had that this year the Panthers are a much deeper team and he has been sent down to the minors on occasion, so with the Panthers currently looking to make a upgrade before the deadline there is a lot of talk that Tippett will be part of a big trade and given his fall in the lineup I think it is a guarantee that he will be moved. And for Vilardi the same sort of thing happened to him, he was a steady 3rd line Center with the Kings last year but with more Center depth this year after playing the first few NHL games he was also sent to the minors but he hasn’t come up from the Minors yet. The Kings are also looking to add at the deadline and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Kings trade him to a team that gives them a quality player due to his drop in the organization and with that I think that these to former first round picks will be on different teams after the deadline.
