Three goalie trades

I know I haven’t gotten to these trades yet but I am getting to them now, first Arizona moved Carter Hutton to the Toronto Maple Leafs for future considerations. Hutton started with Arizona this season and after a couple awful games to start the season was injured and only recently recovered from his injury but was able to return to the minors and even though he was traded to Toronto he stayed in Tucson and is basically a goalie who moved for nothing and is just a depth piece for Toronto as Hutton’s NHL career I think is behind him now. Next the Canadiens traded McNiven to the Flames for future considerations. Now the Canadiens could be getting Allen back from injury soon and they would have to many goalies in the minors so they decided to move McNiven who is definitely more a AHL goalie but could play in the NHL if need be but he could definitely be a third string goalie with Calgary but shouldn’t get much playing time. And on top of it the Oilers traded goalie Alex Stalock to San Jose for future considerations. The Oilers recently got Stalock back from IR after he had heart problems related to COVID but has recently played in the AHL but will enter the organization where he started his career in San Jose. The Sharks currently have a goalie problem with Hill out due to injury and Stalock will be backup for the current time until they have Reimer and Hill back.

Trade Rumors

DeBrusk still wants out

After a stunning first ever hat trick performance by DeBrusk in a game last week the Bruins could be looking at a complicated decision coming. DeBrusk is getting a look one the Bruins top line right now and has been producing at a extremely high rate and the Bruins like how he has been playing recently, but the concern is that he has been a really streaky player not only this season but throughout his career with Boston so while he is producing right now could he carry that sort of production later into the year. Now where the Bruins are in the Standings (1st wildcard as 70 points) and that they will probably be a playoff team would they really want to trade a depth piece who can move up and down the lineup and I would say no and if they feel like it they might keep him for their playoff run and consider moving him in the offseason. But DeBrusk’s trader request is still in place and he still wants out of Boston so moving him when his value is high right now might help the Bruins ether getting something small in a trade or using him in a bigger deal but like I said earlier this week I do believe that the Bruins will trade DeBrusk be the deadline.

Three piece trade for Giroux

Giroux is a player who should be moved by the trade deadline and is going to be a prominent player for a contenders playoff run. The Flyers are probably talking to teams and while there still some people that aren’t convinced that Giroux has said he would be traded a lot of people do think that Philadelphia is already looking for a trade. Now a deal will probably happen closer to the deadline as he plays his 1000 game with Philadelphia on March 17th so sometime between then and March 21st he should be traded and it will have to include three pieces. The Flyers will look to get the best deal they can but they want at least a 1RD pick, a player who is young and has experience on a NHL roster as well as a high level prospect as they definitely want to get a huge package to help with now and later if they are going to move Giroux who is by far their best player this year.

Zadina on the move

According to Frank Seravalli the Red Wings could be considering moving out Filip Zadina possibly before the Deadline. Detroit likes the former 1RD pick back in 2018 but his production this season has declined from the past few years only racking up 17 points in 52 games and has definitely lost scoring prowess this season. Zadina was a full time top 6 winger last year but after having a rocky start this season and with the emergence of Raymond he was pushed down to sometimes being a bottom 6 forward and has occasionally been a healthy scratch so with his being demoted and Vrana who is a top 6 forward not played a game this year I do see a possibility of him being moved but under one condition, they can get a young left shot defensemen for the future. Their offense looks good but they have a lot of upcoming UFA’s on the backend so if they were to move him I absolutely would only do it for a very young top 4 D player who fits long term with them.

Arizona sets the price for both Crouse and Kessel

Arizona is definitely going to be a seller at the deadline and in anticipation for that they have set their asking price on two of their more prominent forwards. First Lawson Crouse who with a more prominent role on the team has produced at a much higher rate then basically at any time over his career and according to sources the Coyotes value him high enough to ask for a 1RD pick and a young roster player, now I see where the Coyotes are coming from and I do believe Crouse has a lot of the same attributes that Goodrow did before he got dealt to Tampa but I got to say that is a hefty price to pay for a physical middle six forward and I would make a deal if the price came down a little bit but at that price right now absolutely not. And with Kessel the Coyotes definitely value him lower then Crouse but thats because of Kessel’s contract and age but I do believe that they will find a taker but the price will be a lot as they want a 3RD pick and a mid level prospect for him now that doesn’t seem to hefty price especially if Arizona retains salary and i do think there is a team out their that is willing to pay that prices for Kessel with salary retained so I think Arizona just has to be patient.

Chicago taking calls on Kane

The Blackhawks have recently announced that after they hired Kyle Davidson as the full time GM they announced that they will be going to be starting a full rebuild possibly tearing down the bulk of the roster so with this team going to a rebuild there are a lot of people who think that Toews and Kane could be moved soon. Now with basically anyone on the table for Chicago those players (especially pending UFA’s) will take precedence but even with that the Blackhawks have been getting calls on Patrick Kane. Now Kane is one of if not the best player for Chicago and is a long time Blackhawk, but if he do send want to stick around it will be fully up to him as he has a NMC and a $10.5 million dollar cap hit so the likelihood he is moved before the trade deadline I would say is slim to none but I could see him moving in the offseason for sure especially with the fact that they could move a lot more players in the offseason and he would only have one year left on his deal.

Rangers looking at Ducks forward

New York R is going to be a busy team before the deadline as they will try to add and get better as a team and their is yet another team that is yet again linked to the Rangers. The Rangers were reportedly interested in J.T Miller from Vancouver but with the Canucks now less likely they are looking at other forward options and apparently they are checking in on Rickard Rakell. Rakell has had a quite productive season in Anaheim so far putting up a lot of points on a line with Zegras and Milano but with his cheap contract and UFA status their are a lot of people who are spilt between him being traded and sold for picks and prospects so the ducks sont lose him for nothing. I think he would definitely fit in New York with the Rangers but if I was New York I would probably have him as a backup option while I try to go for someone more prominent but that will be for the Rangers to decide.

Del Zotto on the move

This is just a small thing but their is apparently moderate interest in Sens Defensemen Michael Del Zotto. Now Del Zotto is a depth defensemen who signed with the Senators in the offseason and had a decent start to the season and was producing at a very good offensive production rate but his defensive play has been atrocious this year and led to him being placed on waivers and sent down to the minors. But now some teams could be in on acquiring the defensemen. No he is not a rental but could be a depth acquisition as he has this and next season on his deal as exactly $2 million dollars so they would be getting him for two years and if he is paired with a defensive defensemen on a third pair he can be the offensive player that some teams might covert so as much as in my opinion I don’t think he gets dealt before the deadline I do see the logic.
