NHL trade rumours
10 Rumours from Thursday FEB 10th to Sunday FEB 13th
Edmonton needs RD
The Oilers are still in need of a goalie but they now have a more pressing matter to deal with and that is the right side of their defence. They do have Barrie and Bouchard on the right side and those two have done good this year but Ceci hasn’t exactly played to expectations to say so they could be looking between now and March 21st for a Right handed defensemen to play in their top four and help with their playoff push and might be more keen on getting the defensemen then getting a goalie.
Caps couldn’t get Fleury
Despite their best interest to lure him to Washington and that they are a playoff team Marc Andre Fleury with the Blackhawks refuses to go to Washington in a trade as he would be playing for the Capitals who are arch rivals of the Penguins the team he started his career with and played a majority of his NHL games with, and the fact that they are willing to part with Vanecek to get a veteran goalie for the playoff will have to be tried elsewhere as Fleury has the no movement clause and has been and will be blocking a trade to Washington.
Panthers interested in Gio
After a couple sources announced it it seems like the Panthers are another team who has their sights set on Giordano as a trade deadline target. Giordano is Seattle’s captain and will be discussing the trade deadline with the team soon and a team who seems interested is Florida. Florida needs a top 4 defensemen more importantly on the left side because they have a lot of right shot defensemen and they have been linked to players like Chychrun and Chiarot but if Chychrun is to expensive given he has term at a cheaper cap hit and if Chiarot is also a little rich for their blood he is a pending UFA to but younger and on a cheaper deal then Giordano finding himself a member of Florida is a definite possibility.
Claude Giroux and/or Marc Andre Fleury headed to Colorado
According to multiple sources the Avalanche are going to want to improve their team and bulk up for the playoffs and two of the biggest names out there are linked to Colorado. The Avalanche have eyes currently on Giroux as he would be a top forward they could get to resound out their top 6 going into the playoffs and can bring some flexibility to the roster juggling if they got him but they would need to give up a substantial amount of picks and prospects plus they would need to make his contract work and would they consider doing all of that for Giroux, yes I think they would, and Marc Andre Fleury is another great player that the Avalanche are looking at but he has got to say that he wants a trade to Colorado and two they have to make the money work and get rid of most likely Pavel Francouz but I could definitely see them trying to acquire him. I think they can only do one of these deals and I think it’s more likely they go after Giroux because I don’t think they can get both players with their cap hits (Giroux $8.25, Fleury $7 million) but i see why they have interest.
A 1 for 1 deal in the works between Vancouver and New Jersey
Just a little connect the dots as the Devils have been saying this year that they don’t want to sell for the future and they would definitely consider a 1 for 1 trade, the Devils have been mentioned that they are interested in Canucks forwards Garland and Boeser, the Canucks have made it clear this year that they will need clear out at least some cap space to open up for next year and now the Canucks are reportedly interested in Zacha makes me think that this is not a coincidence but that behind the curtain the Canucks and Devils are talking about a 1 for 1 deal between Zacha and Garland or Boeser.
Disgruntled prospect Kravtsov being dangled as trade bait
The Rangers are in on almost anyone of significant who was made available and they will need to give up some quality players and Kravtsov is a hound player who is currently being talked about in trades and after he said he wanted a fresh start it is safe to say that the Rangers would definitely include him in a deal that brought a player who made their team better. If the Rangers are willing to make a trade that would have to include one of their best prospects the way things currently sit between the Rangers and Kravtsov it will definitely make sense to use him to get a great player and give him a fresh start.
Chiarot trade talks picking up
Ben Chiarot is currently dealing with a injury and due to that injury a lot of people think that Chiarot trade talks will pick up in the next little while. The Canadiens have recently traded Toffoli to the Flames and after the injury to Chiarot they are saying that there is some intent by the Canadiens to make a move sooner rather then later for moving Chiarot or in other words the Canadiens are going to look for the best offer for Chiarot maybe within the next week or two for Chiarot then there is a high possibility that Montreal makes that move in the near future.
Dvorak drawing interest
Apparently their are specific teams in a certain area that are poking around to see if Canadiens Center Christian Dvorak is available. Dvorak has not brought to the table what the Canadiens were hoping to get when they gave a first round pick to acquire him so it seems like as the Canadiens start going through their rebuild they might try to trade him to recoup some of the assets that they lost trading for him. Now the Western Canadian teams who know first hand how Dvorak plays are reportedly interested and that is Western Canadian teams and the California teams are the teams who are interested and if any of them are looking for a great 2 way center with experience then absolutely they should try to get him.
Tatar and Severson could be on the move
The Devils are sellers and there are a few more names that have been mentioned as possible trade bait before the trade deadline. Tatar who signed a two year deal this past offseason and is a great five on five player and would fit great in any contenders top 6 and would definitely give the Devils something hood in return but can they make the cap work with the other teams and would they be willing to retain salary i definitely think they would consider if the right package came, and Severson who is a top 4 defensemen and plays on the Right side might be moved as the Devils don’t want to much cap tied up in the defence and the way he has played this year finding a different team for him to play for wouldn’t hurt and if he can give the Devils a good D-Men or Forward in return them the Devils should definitely do that.
Hertl contract to be discussed soon
With the Sharks being able to clear cap space this year after terminating the Kane contract their are rumors that the Sharks are going to talk to Hertl. Hertl has been arguably the Sharks best forward this season and is a pending UFA and given how well he has played this year it is no surprise that the Sharks are going to want to resign him. With the Kane stuff it felt like Hertl didn’t want to be there and the Sharks didn’t have enough money to get him signed but now that that is in the past I do think their is mutual interest but they will discuss over the next few weeks because if he doesn’t resign by the trade deadline then I think there is a strong possibility that he could be moved but we will see.
