Lawson Crouse attracting interest from teams
NHL insider Frank Seravalli recently said that the Coyotes are getting great interest on middle six forward Lawson Crouse. Now while their have been plenty of other prominent names that Arizona could trade at the deadline (Chychrun, Kessel and Gostisbehere to name a few), Crouse is actually quite interesting. Lawson Crouse is 24 years old and has this year left on his contract with a cap hit of $1.53 million and will be a RFA at seasons end, he currently has 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points in 31 games played this year and is on pace for 21 goals and 42 points this season, and is averaging a lot more ice time then any of his previous seasons due to the fact that with Arizona depleted depth this year he has been a consistent top 6 forward. Now on most teams he would be a power forward on a third line that would definitely help with depth scoring on a playoff team that lacks a bit of depth. With him being a RFA that is only needing a qualifying offer of $1.75 million at the end is the year he should be in high demand but he is only two years away from UFA eligibility and a team would probably want to sign him more then two years in the offseason. There are three teams that I would consider being interested just off the top of my head.
.1) Nashville
Imagine putting Crouse on their third line with Sissons and Jeannot and given that they do have a bit of draft Currency and looking like they will be buyers at the deadline getting the third line power forward for something like a third round pick would be good and in my opinion this is the best fit.
.2) Tampa Bay
The Lightning are still leading the Atlantic Division even after their depleted depth they had in the offseason. Now to acquire Crouse Tampa would need some cap flexibility but given the fact that they lost Barclay Goodrow in the offseason and what a presence he was in Tampa’s two Stanley cup wins I would think that he would be a similar sort of fit with Tampa like Goodrow was.
.3) New Jersey
While they are not fully out of their rebuild there is a light at the end of the tunnel and getting Crouse who could be a Physical bottom 6 forward for years to come if they could sign him makes me think that he would be a pretty good fit in New Jersey.
