Pittsburgh 3 Florida 2 Final/SO

Even though Florida was able to comeback and tie the game the Pens extend their point streak and Florida loses again. Teddy Blueger (3) and Evan Rodrigues (4) were the two goal scorers in regulation while Brian Rust and Jeff Carter both scored in shootout for the Penguins. Tristan Jarry made 36 saves on 38 shots in the win. Pittsburgh was 0/3 on the power play, and also had 31 hits and 31 shots and now have a four game point streak. Both teams had lineup changes for Pittsburgh Chad Ruhwedel and Marcus Pettersson both who have been activated off of the COVID list replaced Pierre Oliver Joseph and Juuso Riikola and for Florida Ryan Lomberg replaced Maxim Mamin. Frank Vatrano (3) and Aleksander Barkov (9) both scored in regulation while Jonathan Huberdeau was the lone shootout goal scorer for the Panthers. Sergei Bobrovsky made 29 saves on 31 shots in the loss. Aleksander Barkov (7G-3A-10P) now has a eight game point streak. Jonathan Quick’s superb night helps the Kings win again and beat the COVID plagued Senators. Anze Kopitar (8) and Andreas Athanasiou (2) both scored for the Kings. Jonathan Quick stoped all 34 shots in the shootout and in the win. Alex Iafallo had his seven game point streak end, but Adrian Kempe (4G-3A-7P) has a six game point streak and Andreas Athanasiou (2G-3A-5P) has a four game point streak. Los Angeles was 1/2 on the power play, and also had 17 hits and 36 shots and they extended their winning streak to seven games. Ottawa had the only lineup changes as Scott Sabourin, Dillion Heatherington, Lassi Thomson who made his NHL debut and Anton Forsberg who is now healthy replaced Alex Formenton, Nikita Zaitsev, Josh Brown and Matt Murray all who have been placed in the COVID protocol. Ottawa was shutout for the first time this season. Filip Gustavsson made 34 saves on 36 shots in the loss. Nick Suzuki broke the tie and scored the eventual game winner with 7:52 left in the 3rd as the Canadiens get a much needed win. Brendan Gallagher (3) and Nick Suzuki (4) both had a goal and assist, Mike Hoffman and Tyler Toffoli both had 2 assists, Ben Chiarot (4) and Jake Evans (3) also scored for the Canadiens. Montreal had the only lineup change as Ryan Poehling who made his season debut replaced injured Cedric Paquette. Andrew Mangiapane (9) and Mikael Backlund (3) were the two goal scorers for the Flames. Jacob Markstrom made 24 saves on 27 shots in the win and Montreal added a EN. Draisaitl had a three point game and helped the Oilers defeat the Bruins. Fucale’s shutout in his first NHL game gives the Caps another win and is able to shutdown the Red Wings. 

Dmitry Orlov (2) and Lars Eller (1) both scored for the Capitals. Zachary Fucale stoped all 21 shots he faced in the shutout, his first NHL game and in the win. John Carlson’s five game point streak ended. Washington was 0/4 on the power play, and also had 17 hits and 29 shots. Washington had the only lineup changes as Aliaksei Protas and Zachary Fucale who made his NHL debut and started replaced Nic Dowd and Vitek Vanacek who both are dealing with injuries.
