Rumors and News

#1) Barkov extension nearing

According to recent reports, Alex Barkov is slowly getting closer to signing a contract extension with the Panthers. Some reports have said that progress is slow but they could very well have a extension in place by the start of the NHL regular season (OCT 12) and a lot of people including myself think a new contract would look like a max 8 years with a AAV of at least above $10 Million.

#2) Korpisalo May want out of Columbus

There has been no official report that Korpisalo wants out of Columbus and he has said all the right things to the media but I think his days are numbered. Both Korpisalo and Merzlikins entered the offseason entering the final year of there deal but after Merzlikins signed a 5 year contract extension worth $5.4 million it sort of ment that Korpisalo would have to be at best a 1b in Columbus and because there will be teams who could use a starting goalie and Columbus needs to fill some holes in their forward group so moving him for help in other areas of their team would be a smart move

#3) Hamonic didn’t opt out

According to sources no player has opted out of the 2020-21 NHL season. A lot of people wondered if Travis Hamonic might opt out of the season because he isn’t at the Canucks training and speculation is he doesn’t have a vaccine and not having a vaccine on a Canadian team would be hard so it is still unclear if he plays with Vancouver, doesn’t play at all or gets traded to a East team.
