5 Rumors
#1) Mikheyev asked for a trade out of Toronto, didn’t get it
Apparently after the season Ilya Mikheyev was not happy with his role in Toronto and at the end of the season last year requested a trade out of Toronto. No it seems that the Leafs have ignored his request because after losing Hyman in Free Agency the Leafs probably envision Mikheyev having a top 6 role this season and that should make him a bit happier.
#2) Kessel next Coyote to be moved
After moving on from Dvorak and the Chychrun rumours being shot down Elliott Friedman said the next player to be moved out of Arizona will most likely be Phil Kessel. Kessel asked for a trade earlier this offseason and has not been moved yet, he caries a $6.4 Million dollar Cap Hit in his final season of his contract and is still a valuable top 6 player that if he’s contracts as some retention and Kessel waives his NMC to go to a contender then we should see a deal in the near future.
#3) Bozak to sign soon, Pittsburgh a likely option
Friedman has also said that Bozak could be signed within the week as he is still getting offers from teams. He also mentioned that Pittsburgh May be a team interested in Bozak because Crosby and Malkin will most likely be out to start the season so if they can sign Bozak who has experience as a top 6 forward then the Pens should try to get him.
#4) Rangers and Zibanejad reportedly working on extension
With Eichel conversation stalled the Rangers have changed their focus reportedly talking to Zibanejad on a extension. If they can get Zibanejad signed it would most likely be for around $10 Million for 8 years and would put them out of the Eichel race because they are not having 2 $10 Million dollar Centers and would probably be smart to get Zibanejad signed before Free Agency.
#5) rumour: a first and almost NHL ready prospect for Hertl
This is not a for sure report but speculation is that it would take a 1RD pick and almost NHL level prospect to pry Hertl away from San Jose. The Sharks don’t have much Cap Space and signing Hertl will be a problem so moving him to speed up the rebuild. A lot of people will say they should get a high level Center but maybe a high end Defensemen would be better suited but whichever position he plays the prospect will have to be ready to challenge for a lineup spot in next years training camp if a team is to get Hertl.
