NHL Offseason News and Rumors

 News

#1) Blueger extension

Teddy Blueger signed a 2 year $4.4 Million extension with a AAV  of $2.2 Million. Blueger is a productive bottom 6 Forward and will probably be protected in the expansion draft and continue to produce after having 7 goals and 22 points in 43 games.

#2) Carlo extension

Brandon Carlo has signed a 6 year $24.6 Million extension with a AAV of $4.1 to remain with the Bruins. Carlo is a solid top 4 D-Men and can continue to play at a high level after having 3 goals and 4 points in 27 games this past season.

#3) Yandle Bought out

Keith Yandle has been bought out by the Panthers today. They will save $4 Million this upcoming year, only $1 Million the following year, and have $1.24 Million on the books for the third and fourth year.

#4) More players resign

I’m just going to say the three players who got resigned, Alex Belzile and Montreal extended (1 year $.750 Thousand), Michael McLeod and New Jersey got a extension (2 year $1.95 Million AAV $.975 Thousand) and Panthers got a extension done with 2 Gustav Forsling (3 year $8 Million AAV $2.67 Million) and Anthony Duclair 3 year $9 Million AAV $3 Million).

Rumours

#1) Weber to be exposed, May miss all of next year

Shea Weber has let multiple injury’s occur over the past few years and may have put playing next year in jeopardy. With Weber’s contract and multiple injuries the Canadiens will expose him in the expansion draft and  he will most likely not be selected by Seattle and they will try to Navigate the injuries to their Captain.

#2) Landeskog disappointed in contract discussions with Colorado

Gabriel Landeskog is disappointed in the Avalanche for the contract discussions that they are having as it looks like they will not get a deal done and Landeskog will go to Free Agency.

#3) Yandle is not moving he’s NMC

Keith Yandle was not approached by the Panthers to waive his NMC for the expansion draft. There was a lot of speculation that the Panthers would ether ask him to waive or they would buy him out but they feel good with protecting him.

#4) Hyman testing Free Agency, could have a sign and trade

Zach Hyman and the Toronto Maple Leafs are way off on a new contract and it looks like Hyman will try Free Agency on July 28. The Maple Leafs have also given Hyman’s Agent that he can look for a sign and deal to not give Hyman away for Free on July 28th.

#5) Kaprizov rejects major deal

Kirill Kaprizov and Minnesota have been trying to get a contract in place but apparently Kaprizov turned down a 8 year $9 Million deal. Kaprizov wants a short term deal that would lead him to Free Agency where he believes he could get $10-$11 Million on the open market while Minnesota wants a long term deal but if I had to make a guess I would say 4-5 years at $6.5-$8 Million per year.
