NHL Offseason News and Rumors

News

#1) Parise and Suter bought out

Two long time Wild have been announced that they have been bought out of the Final four years of each of their contracts. They each had a NMC so they would have had to be protected but now they can protect two extra players and one of them will be Matt Dumba. They will get $10 Million dollars in cap space for the upcoming season but have $13 Million in dead cap the yrear after and $15 Million in dead cap the two years following and $.833 Thousand the following four years.

#2) Erik Johnson Waives

Erik Johnson has reportedly waived his NMC and will be exposed in the upcoming expansion draft, he has 2 years left at $6 Million and is coming off a injury riddled season so there is a very slim chance that Seattle picks him.

#3) Ducharme officially head coach

Dominic Ducharme has officially been named head coach of the Montreal Canadiens and has signed a three year deal with the Canadiens. He was the interim coach for Montreal after taking over just over a month after the  season started (FEB 24) and lead the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Final this past season.

#4) Pekka Rinne retires

Probably the best goalie in Nashville history has called it a career today. Rinne has retired and was a pending UFA and lead the Preds to the Cup Final in 2017 and was the 2017-18 Vezina Winner.

 Rumours

#1) Chicago has interest in Marc Andre Fleury

After moving Duncan Keith’s full contract to the Oilers they now have more cap space and might try to acquire a veteran goalie. Fleury has been speculated to be on the move with the Golden Knights up against the Cap and needing a top center and after Lankinen had a surprising first season in the NHL age has not proven to be a starter so getting Fleury to tandem with Lankinen next year would be a smart move but if there is a move to be had then it would most likely come after the expansion draft as Chicago would want to protect Lankinen.

#2) St.Louis has expressed interest in Landeskog

I have heard a couple of sources say that if Landeskog where to not resign with the Avalanche that the Blues would try to get him. The Blues do need a great deal of help on the Left Wing as Schwartz is a pending UFA and Tarasenko wants out of St.Louis and there have been rumors that if he were to sign with St.Louis he would play on the top line with O’Reilly and Perron.

#3) Reilly Smith on the move

With Vegas looking to go for a top line center this year and maybe having to give up a good player to get that center and Smith could be on of the likely candidates to go. Smith is entering the Final year of his deal at $5 Million and would be very valuable to another team.

#4) Buchnevich on the trade block

Pavel Buchnevich is a pending RFA and has been a very good player for the Rangers but is once again victim to trade speculation. If the Rangers went to get Eichel from Buffalo Buchnevich would be a solid forward on the younger side.
