Montreal 5 Winnipeg 1 Final
Montreal once again wins this time in a blowout as they have now pushed the Winnipeg Jets to the brink of elimination. Joel Armia has two goals (3 and 4) and a assist, while Corey Perry (3), Autturi Lehkonen (1), and Nick Suzuki (4) also scored for the Canadiens. Tyler Toffoli has a five game point streak (3G-3A-6P). Carey Price made 26 saves in the win. The Canadiens were 1/5 on the power play (Suzuki had the PPG while both Armia goals were short handed), and also had 23 hits and 33 shots. The only lineup change was for Winnipeg as a healthy Paul Stastny replaced Jansen Harkins. Adam Lowry (2) was the lone goal scorer for the Jets. Connor Hellebuyck made 28 saves in the loss. The Jets were 0/2 on the power play, and also had 32 hits and 27 shots. My thoughts: just as in the first round with Edmonton I did not see a Montreal three game advantage coming but now they are a win from the next round. Montreal leads best of seven series 3-0, Game 4 Monday at 5:00.
Injury report
Jeff Petry: left Game 3 with a UBI and did not return.
Jon Merrill: skated yesterday for the first time since sustaining a undisclosed injury.
Winnipeg
Paul Stastny: returned from a undisclosed injury in Game 3.
Vegas 5 Colorado 1 Final
Vegas absolutely took it to the Avalanche and thanks to a hat trick and another game winner from a top line player send Vegas to a series tie. Jonathan Marchessault had a hat trick (3,4 and 5), William Karlsson had three assists, Max Pacioretty (3) had the game winning goal for a third time in the last five games, while Patrick Brown (2) also scored for the Golden Knights. Max Pacioretty has a six game point streak (3G-3A-6P) and Jonathan Marchessault has a four game point streak (4G-2A-6P). Marc Andre Fleury made 17 saves in the win. The Golden Knights were 1/4 on the power play (Marchessault’s second was on the power play),and also had 44 hits and 35 shots. The only were for the Golden Knights as Ryan Reaves who’s suspension is over and Brayden McNabb who is out of the COVID list replaced Dylan Sikura and Nick Holden. Brandon Saad (6) was the lone goal scorer for the Avalanche. Philipp Grubauer made 30 saves in the loss. The Avalanche were 0/2 on the power play, and also had 48 hits and 18 shots. My thoughts: the Avalanche were 5 minutes away from a 3-0 series lead in Game 3 and in 45 seconds the series then turned 2-2 going to Colorado. The best of seven series is tied 2-2, Game 5 is Tuesday at 6:00.
