NHL Game Reviews June 4

 Montreal 1 Winnipeg 0 Final

Montreal gets a huge game from Carey Price who gets his 8th NHL playoff shutout as the Canadiens take the series lead. Tyler Toffoli (3) was the lone goal scorer for the Canadiens. Tyler Toffoli has a four game point streak (3G-2A-5P). Carey Price made 30 saves in the shutout and win. The Canadiens were 0/1 on the power play, and also had 20 hits and 24 shots. Each team had lineup changes for Winnipeg as Jansen Harkins, Kristen Vesalainen, and Jordie Benn replaced Suspended Marc Scheifele, Dominic Toninato, ans injured Dylan Demelo. And for Montreal a healthy Autturi Lehkonen replaced injured Jake Evans. The Jets were shutout in a playoff game for the first time since Game 4 of last years play in round vs Calgary. Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves in the loss. The Jets were 0/2 on the power play, and also had 49 hits and 30 shots. My thoughts: both goalies played an outstanding game but it was Montreal who took the game and a commanding series lead over the Jets. Montreal leads best of seven series 2-0, Game 3 Sunday at 3:00.

Vegas 3 Colorado 2 Final

Vegas pulled off a late comeback with two goals in :45 seconds as they have now made this a 2-1 series. William Karlsson (3), Max Pacioretty (2), and Jonathan Marchessault (2) all scored for the Golden Knights. Max Pacioretty has a five game point streak (2G-3A-5P). Marc Andre Fleury made 18 saves in the win. The Golden Knights were 0/2 on the power play, and also had 50 hits and 43 shots. The only lineup change was for Colorado as Carl Soderberg and Kiefer Sherwood replaced Samsonov Ranta and Alex Newhook. Mikko Rantanen (4) and Carl Soderberg (1) both scored for the Avalanche. Mikko Rantanen has a nine game point streak (4G-12A-16P) and Cale Makar has a four game point streak (1G-6A-7P). Philipp Grubauer made 40 saves in the loss. The Avalanche were 1/2 on the power play (Rantanen had the PPG), and also had 50 hits and 20 shots. My thoughts: it was a must win game for the Golden Knights and they have outplayed Colorado over the last two games and they are going to look to tie the series in Game 4. Colorado leads best of seven series 2-1, Game 4 Sunday at 5:30.
