Special alert
1:) the Kraken have hired their first NHL coach and it comes as a surprise to many as instead of hiring Rick Tocchet like most people we’re assuming they ended up going with Maple Leafs assistant coach and former Flyers coach Dave Hakstol. Hakstol is a great choice and had a winning record 134-101-42 over a three years as the head coach with Philadelphia and they made the playoffs in two of the three years. He started in the 2015-16 season and went 41-27-14 in that year and got the second wildcard spot before being eliminated in 6 games by the Capitals. In the 2016-17 season Philadelphia finished 39-33-10 and 88 points but missed the playoffs by 8 points, and in the 2017-18 season they almost mirrored the first Hakstol season going 42-26-14 finishing third in the division before being Eliminated in 6 games to the Penguins and was fired the following season, he’s last head coaching game being a 5-1 loss to Vancouver on December 15th and will now be the voice in the room of the expansion Kraken and this is only the first step in making their team.
