West 2RD Playoff Preview and Prediction

West

1ST Colorado vs Vegas 2ND

Preview

The two teams have never played each other in a playoff series in history. Each teams record vs each other in the regular season: Vegas 4-4-0, Colorado 4-3-1. The Battle I am looking forward to would be the battle of the goaltenders as it will most likely be between Phillip Grubauer and Marc Andre Fleury. Fleury was looking really good in the first four games than let in 7 in 2 games but helped Vegas win game 7. For the Avalanche Phillip Grubauer was solid in the first round sweep of the St.Louis Blues only allowing 7 goals in four games and whichever goalie plays more soild their team should have the upper hand in the series

Colorado has advantage offensively: these two teams are pretty even and it is tough for me to chose who has the upper hand but with Nathan Mackinnon leading the Avalanche attack it seems as though I’m going with Colorado.

Colorado has advantage defensively: with Makar and Girad two of the best young defenders leading the way it is quite hard not go with the Avalanche’s defense.

Vegas has advantage on goaltending: if you are a team who has Marc Andre Fleury who is playing at the level he is and Robin Lehner as the backup it is really hard to go against that.

Prediction: Colorado in 7 Games

The Avalanche will be slightly better and move on to the second round and beat Vegas in what will be the best series of the playoffs. At the beginning of the year these two teams were Stanley Cup favourites and they are so close this series will go the distance but Colorado has had a week off while Vegas is playing two days after game 7 and the rest did good for Colorado as it gave their player time to get healthy and Vegas is still banged up so with Colorado having home ice and being the more healthy team they should win the series.
