Boston 4 Washington 3 Final/OT
Boston did what needed to be done in Game 2 in another tight game Boston wins in overtime thanks to the production from their top 2 lines. Matt Grzelyck has two assists while Jake DeBrusk (2), Taylor Hall (1), Patrice Bergeron (1), and Brad Marchand (1) all scored for the Bruins. David Pastrnak has a six game point streak (1G-6A-7P). Tuukka Rask made 36 saves in the win. Boston was 0/2 on the power play, and also had 30 hits and 48 shots on goal. Their were two lineup adjustments as sue to injury Vitek Vanecek and Jeremy Lauzon did not play in Game 2 as Lauzon was replaced by Connor Clifton and in Washington’s net Craig Anderson moves to starter and Phoenix Copley was backup. Garnet Hathaway scores twice (1 and 2), Dmitry Orlov had two assists while T.J Oshie (1) also scored for the Capitals. Craig Anderson made 44 saves in the loss. Washington was 1/4 on the power play ( T.J Oshie got the PPG), and also had 36 hits and 39 shots. My thoughts: this is exactly what I figured would happen even if Vanecek was playing Boston’s top 2 line’s were bound to find the back of the net and the fact that both games have gone to OT just says how evenly match these two teams are. Best of seven series tied 1-1, Game 3 Wednesday at 3:30.
Carolina 5 Nashville 2 Final
This was a very evenly matched game and Nashville surprised me at how they kept up with Carolina the first two periods but Carolina scored three times in the third and locked up the win. Jordan Staal scores twice (1 and 2), Brett Pesce had two assists, while Teavu Teravainen (1), Andrei Svechnikov (1), and N.Niederreiter (1) also scored for the Hurricanes. Alex Nedeljkovic made 22 saves in his first NHL playoff game and win. Carolina was 0/4 on the power play, and also had 56 hits and 38 shots. Steven Lorentz, Jani Hakanpaa, Jake Bean, Alex Nedeljkovic, Tanner Jeannot, Alex Carrier, Yakov Trenin, and Mathieu Oliver all made their Playoff debuts. Filip Forsberg (1) and Eric Haula (1) both scored for Nashville. Juuse Saros made 33 saves in the loss. Nashville was 0/3 on the power play, and also had 49 hits and 24 shots. My thoughts: I was surprised at how well the predators kept going shot for shot with the Canes for the first two periods but I also think that what happened in the third period will happen a lot in the series where Carolina takes the game by being the better team. Carolina leads best of seven series 1-0, Game 2 Wednesday 5:00.

Colorado 4 St.Louis 1 Final
Colorado and St.Louis were tied after 2 thanks to some great goaltending from Jordan Binnington but three goals in the third lead by Mackinnon Secured the victory or Colorado. Nathan Mackinnon scored twice (1 and 2) and had a assist, Gabriel Landeskog had a goal (1) and two assists, Mikko Rantanen had two assists, while Cale Makar (1) also scored for the Avalanche. Andre Burakovsky’s eight game point streak ended. Philipp Grubauer made 22 saves in the win. Colorado was 1/3 on the power play ( Cale Makar had the PPG), and also had 16 hits and 50 shots. Nikko Mikkola and Alex Newhook each played in their first NHL playoff game. Jordan Kyrou (1) scored the lone goal for the Blues. Jordan Binnington made 46 saves in the loss. St.Louis was 0/2 on the power play, and also had 21 hits and 23 shots. My thoughts: I think that Binnington is a really good goalie and should help them get a win or two but the play of the Mackinnon line like last night is going to get Colorado to the next round. Colorado leads the best of 7 series 1-0, Game 2 Wednesday 7:30.
