NHL Rumors

Elliott Friedman 31 thoughts

1 . Toronto all in and willing to trade top prospects

Kyle Dubas confirmed that the Maple Leafs are all in. He is looking for a top forward and is ok trading one of their top prospects Elliott reported. In my opinion Toronto has controlled the play in the North and it looked like they were always going to go get a forward but I never thought they could trade on of their top prospects but this would be the year to do it as their is no Boston or Tampa Bay in their division this year, listen over the next couple of weeks on this.

2 . Jets are looking for a top 4 D-Man

The Jets are coming up behind Toronto Quickly and might be in the market for a good defender. Elliott Friedman reported they could be in on the two best available Defensemen David Savard and Mattias Ekholm. In my opinion I always thought from the beginning of the season Winnipeg was one piece away on the defensive side from being a top contender. I think if they could get one of those two they could challenge Toronto to come out of the East.

3 . Can Vancouver keep Tanner Pearson

Vancouver will try to sign Tanner Pearson before the trade deadline but how can the cap strapped Canucks keep him with young players in need of new contract’s He reports. Thatcher Demko, Elias Pettersson, and Quinn Hughes all are in need of new contracts after this year and could ask for a lot of money. The Canucks could work out bridge deals with Pettersson and Hughes but Demko will be a UFA in two years and these contracts could complicate things with Pearson.

4 . Chicago willing to eat salary cap

The Blackhawks could be looking for assets after saying that with 20 million on LTIR they could take a bad contract. In my opinion I could see Chicago take on a bad contract from a contender looking to add at the deadline and I could also see them being a third party to retain some salary.

5 . Vegas not looking to add

Elliott Friedman reported he thought that Vegas might want to add a Top 9 Foward but it now looks like their content with the roster as it is right now. In my opinion I think this would be a smart Decision as they are fireing on all cylinders and look like the best in the West right now.
