Pittsburgh 5  Philadelphia 2 Final

Pittsburgh won the first of three straight meetings against Philadelphia. Kasperi Kapanen scored twice (4 and 5) Brian Rust got a goal (7) and a assist, and Cody Ceci (2) and Michael Matheson (2) scored for Pittsburgh. Tristan Jarry made 40 saves in the win. Pittsburgh has now won seven of their last ten games. Each team made lineup changes for Pittsburgh Josh Currie and Mark Friedman came into the lineup taking out Sidney Crosby and Pierre Oliver Joseph, and Philadelphia took out Nick Aube-Kubel and put in Travis Konecny. Joel Farabee who scored twice (9 and 10) was the only Flyer to score. Sean Couturier extended his point streak to seven games (5G-6A-11P) while James Van Riemsdyk currently has a five game point streak (3G-5A-8P). C.Hart made 22 saves in the loss to their Pennsylvania rivals. The loss ended Philadelphia’s three game winning streak.

Montreal 3  Ottawa 1 Final

The Canadiens got back in the win column with the victory over the Senators. Brandon Gallagher (7) and Jeff Petry (7) each had a goal and a assist while Tyler Toffoli (13) scored for the Canadiens. C.Price made 26 saves for his first win since Feb 13. The Canadiens ended a five game losing streak but even after the win have lost seven of the past nine. Ottawa had the only lineup change as they put in Erik Brannstrom and Michael Haley and took out Brayden Coburn and Mattew Peca. Ottawa’s lone goal scorer was Artem Zub who got his (2nd) goal of the season. Drake Batherson extended his point streak to seven games (7G-4A-11P) while Thomas Chabot, Tim Stutzlé, and Colin White each had their four game point streak end. Joey Daccord stoped 30 shots in his first start since April 2019. Ottawa lost for the second time in three games following a three game winning streak.

Montreal is 4th in the North 10-6-5 record, 25 points, 3 points above playoff line, 21 games played.

Ottawa is 7th in the North 8-16-1 record, 17 points, 8 points back of a playoff spot, 25 games played.



New York I 2  New Jersey 1 Final

The Islanders kept the good times rolling against the New Jersey Devils. New York had goals from Oliver Wahlstrom (4) and Anders Lee (10) in the win. Oliver Wahlstrom (3G-3A-6P) and Nick Leddy (0G-6A-6P) each extended their point streaks to five games. Semyon Varlamov made 28 saves in his sixth start in the last seven games. The Islanders have won four of their last five games and have a point in all of their past five games. There was only one lineup change and that was for the Islanders who put back in Cal Clutterbuck and took out Leo Komarov. The Devils lone goal scorer was Miles Wood (7). Pavel Zacha had his ten game point streak come to an end in the Devils loss today. Aaron Dell made 18 saves in his second start of the season and first since Feb 21. The Devils have lost three straight and six of their last seven games.

New York I is T1st in the east 12-6-4 record, 28 points, 3 points above playoff line, 22 games played.

New Jersy is 7th in the east 7-9-2 record , 16 points, 9 points back of a playoff spot, 18 games played.



New York R 3  Buffalo 2 Final

The Rangers gain in the race for a playoff spot with a win. Pavel Buchnevich had a goal (6) and assist and Adam Fox got two assists while Chris Kreider (10) and Alexis Lafreniere (3) each scored for New York. Igor Shesterkin made 22 saves in the win. With the win the Rangers have now won four of their last six games. Each team had lineup changes for the Rangers Filip Chytil went in for Johnny Brodzinski and the Sabres took out Brandon Davidson, Matt Irwin, and Casey Mittelstadt and put in Dylan Cozens, Jacob Bryson, and Colin Miller. For Buffalo Sam Reinhart scored (8) and broke Buffalo’s scoreless streak 55 seconds into the game and Tobias Rieder (4) also scored for Buffalo. Carter Hutton made 16 saves as he started for the second time in the past three games since Linus Ullmark’s injury. Buffalo has lost four straight and nine of their last eleven games. 

New York R is 6th in the east 8-9-3 record, 19 points, 6 back of a playoff spot, 20 games played .

Buffalo is 8th in the east 6-11-3 record, 15 points, 10 back of a playoff spot, 20 games played.



Columbus 4  Detroit 1 Final

Columbus bumps the slump in their win against Detroit. Cam Atkinson had a goal (10) and a assist, Zach Wereinski had two assists, and Riley Nash (2), Jack Roslovic (5), and Boone Jenner (7) all scored for Columbus. Joonas Korpisalo made 19 saves in his fifth straight start. The win ends the Blue Jackets season long five game losing streak. The only lineup change is from Detroit where Robbi Fabbri, Michael Rasmussen, and Patrick Nemeth came into the lineup while Valtteri Filppula, Frans Nielsen, and Alex Biega

came out. Anthony Mantha (6) was the lone goal scorer for the Red Wings. Jonathan Bernier made 23 saves before being pulled for Thomas Greiss who came in and stoped all 9 shots he faced for Detroit. The Red Wings have now lost back to back games and have now lost six of their last nine games.

Columbus is 5th in the Central 9-10-5 record, 23 points, 5 points back of a playoff spot, 24 games played.

Detroit is 7th in the Central 7-15-3 record, 17 points, 11 points back of a playoff spot, 25 games played.



 Winnipeg 5  Vancouver 2 Final

The Jets earn a spilt of their two game set with Vancouver. Kyle Connor (11) and Blake Wheeler (7) each scored and had two assists while Mark Scheifele had three assists. Also Paul Stastny (5), Mathieu Perreault (4), and Mason Appleton (6) each scored for Winnipeg. Laurent Brossoit had 31 saves in his first game since Feb 19. The Jets have won five of their past six games. The only lineup change was from Winnipeg where they put back in Tucker Poolman and took out Sami Niku. The Canucks goal scorers were J.T.Miller (6) and Elias Pettersson (10) and Brock Boeser had two assists. Brayden Holtby made 34 saves in his first start since Feb 21. The Canucks have lost five of their last six games and twelve of their last fifteen games.

Winnipeg is 2nd in the North 14-7-1 record, 29 points, 7 points above the playoff line 22 games played.

Vancouver is 6th in the North 9-15-2 record, 20 points, 5 points back of a playoff spot, 26 games played.



Carolina 4  Nashville 2 Final

Carolina took advantage of a injured Predators team for the win.  Sebastian Aho scored twice (7 and 8), Jordan Staal got two assists, and Vincent Trocheck (12) and Steven Lorentz who got his (1st) NHL goal also scored for Carolina. James Reimer made 36 saves in his third start in the last four games. Carolina has a three game winning streak after losing three straight games. Nashville had the only lineup changes as they put in Tanner Jeannot, Mathieu Oliver, and Alex Carrier while taking out Ryan Johansen, Luke Kunin, and Ryan Ellis. Nashville’s goal scorers were Calle Jarnkrok (5), and Mattias Ekholm (3) who got a goal and assist. Juste Saros made 8 saves on 10 shots before being injured, and Pekka Rinne came in and stoped 16 of 17 shots. Even with the loss Nashville was won four of the last six games. 

Carolina is 2nd in the Central 15-6-1 record, 31 points, 8 points above playoff line, 22 games played.

Nashville is 6th in Central 10-12-0 record, 20 points, 8 points back of a playoff spot, 22 games played,



Tampa Bay 2  Dallas 0 Final

Tampa Bay shutout Dallas a second straight game. Ondrej Palat (9) and Yani Gourde (6) each scored for Tampa Bay. Andrej Vasilevskiy made 28 saves in his third shutout in the past week. Tampa Bay has now won five straight games since they lost three of four. Here are the lineup changes, for Dallas Tanner Kero and Joel Hanley in, Joel Kiviranta and Andrej Sekera out and for Tampa Ross Colton in for Alex Volkov. Dallas got shutout a second straight time and have not scored a goal in 142:11. Anton Khudobin made 17 saves in the loss. The Stars have now lost eleven of their past thirteen since a season opening four game winning streak.

Dallas is 8th in the Central 6-7-4 record, 16 points, 12 points back of a playoff spot, 17 games played.
