Waiver News

Cleared Waivers

Scott Harrington ($1.63 Million 1Year)

Artem Anisimov ($ 4.55 Million UFA)

Put on Waivers

Liam O’Brien ($ .700 Thausand 1Year)

Shayne Gostisbehere ($4.5 Million 2Year)

Nick Holden ($1.7 Million 1Year)

Analysis: Anisimov was never going to be claimed because of his contract and the only way Scott Harrington was being claimed was if some team desperately needed a depth D-Men. Shayne Gostisbehere was the surprise on today’s Waivers as word is Philly hopes some team will take a gamble on him and claim him, and it is also a possibility that they put him on Waivers because they are trying to have a big trade and need cap space.

1 . Ekblad injury could lead to trade

Aaron Ekblad was diagnosed with a leg injury and will miss the rest of the season and their is a possibility that Florida will urgently be looking for a trade. The Panthers are apparently already looking for a trade but the Ekblad injury could speed up the process as they look for a Top 4 right shot defenceman A couple candidates could be David Savard and Brandon Montour. Keep an eye on the Panthers.

2 . Buffalo could be busy soon

As almost everyone is saying right now Buffalo could be very busy over the next two weeks Taylor Hall and Brandon Montour are easily the two biggest trade chips and most likely to go. Friedman also said Jake McCabe would’ve been a prime trade target if not for the fact he was injured and wonders of Casey Mittelstadt could benefit from a trade. Buffalo also has an edge right now as a couple of teams who should’ve been sellers have gotten back in the playoff race. Keep an eye on the Sabres.

3 . Blues and Coyotes holding on trades.

Arizona and St. Louis are two teams to keep an eye on. For Arizona they were supposed to be a huge seller but has now gotten themselves one point back of a playoff spot and are waiting to see how good they can do before the deadline as for St. Louis their GM Doug Armstrong sold away UFA’s in the past couple years and with St.Louis not doing too well right now they are wondering if maybe he tries to trade someone.

4 . Columbus weighing options

Columbus had an atrocious weekend against Detroit and trade news around them have started to pop-up again. Throughout the year we’ve focussed on David Savard Nick Foligno and maybe one of their goalies as possible trade chips they could move, they are still in the race but are falling fast.

5 . Montreal not done

After Montreal acquired Eric stall and son cool car filled to entry level contract there were rumours about maybe Montreal moving cap space out. Elliot Friedman says maybe Montreal had some thing going with moving Artturi Lehkonen  but they might need to be clear of COVID before anything occurs.
