 Pittsburgh  4 New York R 2 Final

Pittsburgh sweeps their two game set vs the New York Rangers.Sidney Crosby had a goal (9) and assist, and Kasperi Kapanen (7), Teddy Blueger (4), and Jake Guentzel (8) all scored for the Penguins. Evgeny Malkin has a five game point streak (2G-5A-7P) and Sidney Crosby has a four game point streak (2G-4A-6P). Tristan Jarry made 33 saves in his third start in the last four games. Pittsburgh is on a three game winning streak and have won four of their last five games. Each team made lineup changes as Jared Mccann was out for Pittsburgh and they put in Colton Sceviour and the Rangers took out Libor Hajex and Colin Blackwell and put in Jack Johnson and Brendan Lemieux. The Rangers goal scorer’s were Jack Johnson (1) and Ryan Strome (9). Pavel Buchnevich has a five game point streak (2G-5A-7P). Keith Kinkaid made 23 saves in his first start this year and first start with the Rangers. New York has now lost back to back games following a three game winning streak.

New York I 2 Boston 1 Final/SO

The Islanders continue there torrid pace vs Boston this year with the win. Brock Nelson (10) was the loan Islanders goal scorer in regulation while Jordan Eberle and Anthony Beauvillier scores in the shootout. Anders Lee has his four game point streak come to an end but Brock Nelson now has a four game point streak (4G-1A-5P). Semyon Varlamov made 32 saves in the shootout win. The Islanders now have a six game winning streak and a nine game point streak. Each team made one lineup change as Jake Debrusk came out for Boston and Sean Kuraly went in and for the Islanders Leo Komarov went in for Michael Dal Colle. David Pastrnak (11) was the lone regulation goal scorer and the only Bruins scorer in the shootout. Jarslov Halak stopped 26 of 27 shots in the shootout loss. Boston has lost back to back games and they have also lost five of their last seven games.

Florida 4 Columbus 2 Final

Florida’s win helps them keep pace with the Bolts and Canes for first in the Central. Mackenzie Weegar had two assists while Juho Lammikko (3), Patrick Hornqvist (10), Owen Tippett (2), and Carter Verhaeghe (9) scored for Florida. Alex Barkov had his six game point streak snapped but now Jonathan Huberdeau has a four game point streak (2G-4A-6P). Sergei Bobrovsky made 38 saves in his fifth start in seven games. Florida has won three of their last four games and has a point in six of their last seven games. Florida Had the only lineup change as they put in Owen Tippett and Marcus Nutivaara and took out Grigori Denisenko and Kevin Connauton. Columbus’s goal scorers were Michael Del Zotto (2) and Oliver Bjorkstrand (8). Jonas Korpisalo made 29 saves in his eighth straight game. Columbus has now lost two straight and seven of nine games.

Florida is 3rd in the Central 16-5-4 record, 36 points, 11 points above the playoff line, 25 games played.

Columbus is 5th in the Central 10-12-5 record, 25 points, 6 points back of a playoff spot, 27 games played.



Winnipeg 4 Toronto 3 Final

The second place Jets upended the top of the North Maple Leafs last night. Neal Pionk had three assists, Nikolai Ehlers had two assists, Andrew Copp had a goal (5) and assist, while Josh Morrisey (1), Kyle Connor (12), and Mason Appleton (7) each scored for Winnipeg. Mark Scheifele now has a four game point streak (0G-6A-6P). Connor Hellebuyck who has started the Jets last three games made 36 saves in the win. The Jets have won three of their last four games. Neither team had lineup changes. Toronto had two goals from Austin Matthews (19 and 20) and Zach Hyman (8) also for the Maple Leafs. Freddie Anderson who was starting for the third time in the last four game made 19 saves in the loss. Toronto is now on a three game losing streak. 

Toronto is 1st in the North 18-7-2 record, 38 points, 12 points above the playoff line, 27 games played.

Winnipeg is 2nd in the North 16-8-1 record, 33 points, 7 points above the playoff line, 25 games played.


Carolina 3 Nashville 2 Final/OT

Carolina came back from down 2-0 to win in overtime over Nashville. Jordan Staal has two goals (9 and 10), Sebastian Aho had a goal (10) and assist, while Vincent Trocheck got two assists for Carolina. Both Vincent Trocheck (4G-4A-8P) and Dougie Hamilton (0G-7A-7P) have six game point streaks while Martin Necas had his four game point streak end. Alex Nedelijkovic made 21 saves in his second start in the last three games. Carolina is currently on a six game winning streak. Each team had lineup changes as Carolina took out Jake Gardiner and put in Jake Bean while Nashville put in Alex Carrier and Jeremy Davies and took out Roman Josi and Ben Harpur. Nashville had goals from Matthew Benning (1) and Ryan Johansen (2). Filip Forsberg currently has a four game point streak (1G-7A-8P). Pekka Rinne made 32 saves in his fourth straight start. Nashville has now lost four of their last five games.

Carolina is 2nd in the Central 18-6-1 record, 37 points, 12 points above the playoff line, 25 games played.

Washington 5 New Jersey 4 Final/OT

Washington recovers from blowing a 4-1 lead to defeat New Jersey in overtime. Jacob Vrana scored twice (9 and 10), Evgeny Kuznetsov and Nicklas Backstrom each had two assists, while T.J.Oshie (6), Daniel Sprong (4), and Dimitry Orlov (3) each scored for Washington. Vitek Vanecek made 27 saves in his third start in the last four games. Washington has won back to back games and has won six of their last seven games. The only lineup change for either team was Nikita Gusev was out and Michael Mcleod was in for New Jersey. Travis Zajac had three assists, Janne Kuokkanen has a goal (2) and assist, while Yegor Sharangovich (4), Miles Wood (8), and Daemon Severson (2) each scored for New Jersey. Scott Wedgewood made 25 saves in his second consecutive start after not playing since Jan 30. New Jersey has now lost six of their last seven games. 

Washington is 2nd in the East 15-6-4 record, 34 points, 5 points above the playoff line, 25 games played.

Philadelphia 5 Buffalo 4 Final/SO

Philadelphia came back from 4-2 down to beat Buffalo in the shootout. Sean Couturier and Joel Farabee each had two assists, while Kevin Hayes (9), James Van Riemsdyk (11), Claude Giroux (4), and Shane Gostisbehere (4) each scored in regulation while Sean Couturier and Nolan Patrick scored in the shootout for Philadelphia. 

Carter Hart stoped 5 of 8 shots before being pulled for Brian Elliott who made 11 saves in relief. Philadelphia has won two of three and five of their last eight games. Buffalo’s lineup changes were Jack Eichel, Brandon Davidson, and Colin Miller out while Riley Sheahan, Matt Irwin, and Henri Jokiharju came in while Philadelphia took out Connor Bunnaman and put in Robert Hagg. Sam Reinhart scored twice (10 and 11), Taylor Hall got two assists, while Riley Sheahan (3) and Brandon Mountour (1) got goals for Buffalo. Jonas Johansson who has started three of the last four games made 29 saves in the loss. Philadelphia has won two of their last three games and five of their last eight.

Buffalo is 8th in the East 6-14-4 record, 16 points, 14 points back of a playoff spot, 24 games played.



Tampa Bay 4 Detroit 3 Final/OT

Tampa bay kept pace in the Central race with a victory in overtime over Detroit. Erik Cernak (1), Blake Coleman (5), and Tyler Johnson (5) each had a goal and assist while Brayden Point (8) had a goal. Victor Hedman has a five game point streak (1G-5A-6P). Andrei Vasilevskiy made 20 saves in his twentieth start of the season. Tampa Bay has won back to back games and currently has a nine game point streak. Detroit took out of their lineup Evgeny Svechnikov and put in Dylan Larkin while Tampa Bay put in Jan Rutta and Alex Barre-Boulet and took out Alex Volkov and Andreas Borgman. Detroit has two assists from Filip Hronek, and goals from Dylan Larkin (5), Adam Erne (3) and Patrick Nemeth (2). Thomas Greiss made 25 saves in his first start in over a week. Detroit has now lost four straight games.

Tampa Bay is 1st in the Central 18-4-2 record, 38 points, 13 points above the playoff line, 24 games played.

Detroit is 8th in the Central 7-16-4 record 


Dallas 6 Chicago 1 Final 

Dallas spoils Patrick Kane’s 1000th game with a beatdown of the Blackhawks. Jason Robertson had a four assist night, Roope Hintz (6) and Joel Kiviranta (3) both had a goal and assist, and Jamie Oleksiak (3), John Klingberg (4), Joe Pavelski (13), and Esa Lindell (3) each scored for Dallas. Joe Pavelski (3G-1A-4P) and Jamie Benn (0G-4A-4P) each have a four game point streak. Anton Khudobin made 21 saves in his first start in three games. Dallas has won two of their last three games and currently have a three game point streak. Reese Johnson and Calvin De Haan came into the lineup for Wyatt Kalynuk and Ian Mitchell for Chicago while Dallas put in Roope Hintz and John Klingberg for Joel L’Esperence and Joel Hanley. Chicago got a goal from Mattias Janmark (9). Patrick Kane had his four game point streak snapped last night. Malcom Subban made 31 saves in his second start in the last three games. Chicago has lost three of their last four games.
