 New York R 6 New Jersey 1 Final

New York got a big boost from their top six in a blowout win over New Jersey. Chris Kreider has a hat-trick (11,12 and 13), Pavel Buchnevich (7) and Alexsi Lafreniere (4) each had a goal and assist, Ryan Strome had two assists and Brendan Smith (2) also scored for the Rangers. Alexsi Lafreniere now has a four game point streak (2G-3A-5P). Igor Shesterkin stoped 32 of 33 shots before being injured and Alex Georgiev stoped all 3 shots he faced in relief. With the win New York has now won four of their last six games. The only lineup change was that Nikita Gusev came out of the lineup for Janne Kuokannen. Jack Hughes (5) was the lone goal scorer for New Jersey. McKenzie Blackwood was pulled after giving up 4 goals on 15 shots and Arron Dell let in 2 goals on 4 shots in relief. The Devils have a four game losing streak and have lost seven of there past eight games.

Carolina 5 Detroit 2 Final

The Hurricanes scored three times in the 3rd to break the tie and beat the Red Wings. Jordan Staal had a goal (8) and two assists, Nino Niederreiter (10), Martin Necas (4), Jesper Fast (3) and Andrei Svechnikov (8) each had a goal and assist while Vincent Trocheck and Dougie Hamilton each had two assists. Vincent Trocheck (3G-2A-5P), and Dougie Hamilton (0G-5A-5P) each extended their point streaks to four games. Alex Nedelijkovic made 33 saves in his second straight win. The Hurricanes have now gotten four straight wins. The only lineup change was Teuvo Teravainen in and Steven Lorentz out. For the Red Wings Filip Zadina (2 and 3) had both Detroit goals while Andrei Svechnikov’s brother Evgeny Svechnikov ( who plays for Detroit) had a assist in the loss. Jonathan Bernier made 27 saves in the loss for Detroit. Detroit has lost three straight after winning back to back games.

Philadelphia 4 Pittsburgh 3 Final

Philadelphia came back with four unanswered goals to beat the Penguins. Claude Giroux had two goals (2 and 3) and a assist also Travis Konecny, Oscar Lindblom, and Nicolas Aube-Kubel each had two assists and Sean Couturier (6) and Scott Laughton(6) each scored for the Flyers. Sean Couturier extended his point streak to eight games (6G-6A-12P) while James Van Riemsdyk’s point streak ended at five games. Brian Elliott made 26 saves in the win. The Philadelphia Flyers have now won four of their last five games. Each team had lineup changes for Philadelphia Joel Farabee came out and Nicolas Aube-Kubel went in while Pittsburgh got back into the lineup Sidney Crosby and Mark Jankowski while taking out Josh Currie and Colton Sceviour. For the Penguins Kris Letang (5), Jared Mccann (4), Mark Friedman (1) each scored a goal. Tristan Jarry made 31 saves in his ninth start in ten games. Pittsburgh has now lost two of three and three of their last five games.

Philadelphia is 3rd in the East 12-5-3 record, 27 points, 2 points above the playoff line, 20 games played.

Pittsburgh is 5th in the East 12-9-1 record, 25 points, 2 points back of a playoff spot, 22 games played.



Winnipeg 4 Montreal 3 Final/OT

Winnipeg outlasted Montreal by scoring in overtime with 31 seconds left. Paul Stastny scored twice (6 and 7) and Mathieu Perrault (5) and Pierre Luc-Dubois (5) who got the OT winner scored for Winnipeg. Connor Hellebuyck made 33 saves and has beaten Montreal three straight games this season. Winnipeg has won back to back games and has won six of their last seven outings. Neither team made any lineup changes. For Montreal Corey Perry had a goal (3) and assist, Jonathan Drouin had two assists and Tyler Toffoli (14) and Brendan Gallagher (8) each scored for Montreal. Jake Allen made 23 saves in his second start in the past three games. Montreal has a point in three straight games but has lost six of their last seven games.

Winnipeg is 2nd in the North 15-7-1 record, 31 points, 7 points above the playoff line, 23 games played.

Montreal is 4th in the North 10-6-6 record, 26 points, 2 points above the playoff line, 22 games played.

 




New York I 5 Buffalo 2 Final

The New York Islanders  got a boost from their fourth line to down the Sabres. New York’s fourth line of Matt Martin two goals (3 and 4) Cal Clutterbuck a assists and Casey Cizikas two assists combined for five points today. Jordan Eberle (9) scored and had a assist and Noah Dobson (2) and Anthony Beauvillier (2) scored for Nyi. Nick Leddy and Oliver Wahlstrom each had their five game point streak end. Ilya Sorokin stoped 16 shots of 18 shots and in his last three games has stoped 56 of 58 shots. The Islanders currently have a three game winning streak and have a point in six straight games. Neither team had lineup changes. Taylor Hall (2) and Rasmus Ristolainen (3) each scored for Buffalo. Jonas Johansson made 40 saves in his second start this season. The Sabres are currently on a five game losing streak and have lost ten of the past twelve games.

Tampa Bay 3 Chicago 2 Final/OT

Tampa Bay overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat Chicago in overtime 3-2.

Alex Killorn had a goal (4) and assist while Steven Stamkos (11) and Anthony Cirelli (6) scored for Tampa Bay. Andrei Vasilevskiy who has started 18 of Tampa’s 21 games made 35 saves in the win. The Lightning are on a six game winning streak since losing three of four games. Tampa Bay had the only lineup change with Alex Volkov and Luke Schenn coming into the lineup for Ross Colton and Erik Cernak. Alex Debrincat (12) and Ryan Carpenter (4) each scored for Chicago. Alex Debrincat currently has a seven game point streak (4G-6A-10P). The rookie goalie Kevin Lankinen made 31 saves in the OT loss. Chicago now has a point in seven of their last nine games.

Tampa Bay is 1st in the Central 16-4-1 record, 33 points, 8 points above the playoff line, 21 games played. 

Chicago is 4th in the Central 12-7-5 record, 29 points, 4 points above the playoff line, 24 games played.


Florida 5 Nashville 4 Final

Florida was able to win because of offensive support from their Defense. Arron Ekblad had two goals (7 and 8) and two assists, Alex Barkov had three assists, Jonathan Huberdeau has a goal (9) and assist while Carter Verhaeghe (8) and Mason Marchment (1) who got his first NHL goal each scored for Florida. Alex Barkov (1G-5A-6P) and Mason Marchment (1G-3A-4P) each have a four game point streak. Sergei Bobrovsky made 31 saves in his third start in four games. Florida has a four game point streak and has a point in eight of their last ten games. Each team had lineup changes for Florida Vinne Hinostroza and Gustav Forsling went in and took out Owen Tippett and Kevin Connauton while Nashville got back Ryan Johansen, Brad Richardson, and Mark Borowiecki and took out Mathieu Oliver, Tanner Jeannot, and Alexandre Carrier. Filip Forsberg (10) had a goal and two assists, Victor Arvidsson had a three assist game, Mattias Ekholm (4) got a goal and assists, and Colton Sissons (4) and Ryan Johansen (1) also scored for Nashville. Pekka Rinne made 33 saves in his first start in four games. The Predators have now lost back to back games and three of their last five games. 

Florida is 3rd in the Central 14-4-4 record, 32 points, 7 points above the playoff line, 22 games played.

Nashville is 6th in the Central 10-13-0 record, 20 points 9 points back of a playoff spot, 23 games played.



Columbus 3 Dallas 2 Final

Colu got out to a three nothing lead and held off the stars for the win. Bonne Jenner (8) had a goal and assist while Oliver Bjorkstrand (7) and Eric Robinson (4) each scored for Columbus. Jonas Korpisalo made 22 saves in his sixth straight start. The Blue Jackets have now won back to back games following a five game losing streak. The Stars were the only team with lineup changes as Andrej Sekera and Joel Kiviranta came in to the lineup taking out Mark Pysyk and Roope Hintz. Jason Robertson (3) and Miro Heiskanen (1) each scored for Dallas. Anton Khudobin made 19 saves in his third straight start. Dallas is on a four game losing streak and only have one win in their last eleven games. 

Columbus is 5th in the Central 10-10-5, 25 points, 4 points back of a playoff spot, 25 games played.

Dallas is 8th in the Central 6-8-4, 16 points, 13 points back of a playoff spot, 18 games played.


Calgary 7 Ottawa 3 Final

Calgary found their offensive touch in a blowout in over Ottawa. Dylan Dube had his first NHL hat trick (4,5 and 6), Matthew Tkachuk had three assists, Sean Monahan (5), Brett Ritchie (1) and Derek Ryan (1) all had a goal and assist while Josh Leivo(1)  also scored for Calgary. David Rittich made 29 saves in his fifth straight start. Calgary has won two of three since losing five of six. For Calgary’s lineup changes they had Derek Ryan, Brett Ritchie, and Oliver Kylington go in for Sam Bennett, Dominic Simon, and Nikita Nesterov as for Ottawa they took out Michael Haley and Mike Rielly and put in Ryan Dzingel who played for the first time since being traded two weeks ago and Brayden Coburn. Josh Norris (5) had a goal and assist while Artem Anisimov (2) and Ryan Dzingel (3) scored for Ottawa. Drake Batherson’s seven game point streak came to an end yesterday. Matt Murray stoped 7 of 11 shots and was pulled for Joey Daccord who made 13 saves in relief. Ottawa has lost three of their past four games since winning three straight.

Calgary is 5th in the North 11-11-2 record, 24 points, 2 points back of a playoff spot, 24 games played.

Ottawa is 7th in the North 8-17-1 record, 17 points, 9 points back of a playoff spot, 26 games played.


Vancouver 3 Toronto 1 Final

Vancouver beated Toronto for the first time this year. Jake Virtanen scored twice (2 and 3) and Bo Horvat (10) also scored for Vancouver. Thatcher Demko made 31 saves and he has won back to back games stoping 58 of 59 shots. Vancouver has won two of three since a four game losing streak. Each team had lineup changes for Vancouver Marc Michaelis who made his NHL debut and Jace Hawryluk went into the lineup for Elias Pettersson and Zach Macewen and for the Maple Leafs they took out Travis Boyd and put in Nick Petan. Pierre Engvall (2) was the lone goal scorer for the Maple Leafs. William Nylander and Zach Hyman each had their four game point streaks end.Micheal Hutchinson made 25 saves in his fifth start this season. Toronto lost for the first time in five games. 

Toronto is 1st in the North 18-5-2 record, 38 points, 14 points above the playoff line, 25 games played.

Vancouver is 6th in the North 10-15-2 record, 22 points, 4 points back of a playoff spot, 27 games played.
