Washington 2 Boston 1 Final/SO
Washington wins the first of two meetings in three days aginst the Boston Bruins. Lars Eller (5) got the lone goal for the Capitals while Jacob Vrana got the lone shootout goal. Lars Eller extended his point streak to four games (3G-2A-5P). Vita Vanacek who has started 18 of the capital’s 22 games made 18 saves in the shootout victory. Washington has now won four straight games and have a point in six straight games. Washington had one lineup change as Evgeny Kuznetsov went in for Daniel Sprong, and Boston had five lineup changes as Forwards David Krejci, Anders Bjork, Chris Wagner and Defensemen Matt Grzelyck and Jarred Tinordi who made his Boston debut went in and they took out Forwards Gregg Mckegg, Karson Kuhlman, Charlie Coyle as well as Defensemen Urho Vaakanainen and Steven Kampfer. David Pastrnak’s (10th) goal was the lone Bruins goal in both regulation and the shootout. Tuukka Rask made 27 saves in the loss and started his third straight game. The Bruins have now lost five of their last seven games.

Toronto 6 Edmonton 1 Final
Toronto sweeps their three game set with Edmonton out scoring the Oilers 13-1. Jason Spezza had three assists, Tyler Boyd had two assists, John Tavares (7) and Zach Hyman (7) had a goal and assist, Jimmy Vesey scored twice (3 and 4) while Ilya Mikheyev (3) and William Nylander (10) each scored for Toronto. William Nylander (5G-1A-6P) has a goal and point streak of four games and Zach Hyman (3G-2A-5P) just has a four game point streak. Frederik Anderson made 26 saves in his first start in four games. The Maple Leafs currently have a four game winning streak and have points in seven of the last eight games. Toronto’s lone lineup change was Austin Matthews in for Alex Barbanov while for Edmonton they took out Dominik Kahun, Patrick Russell, Alex Chiasson, and Evan Bouchard and put in James Neal, Kyle Turris, Joakim Nygard, and Kris Russel. The Oliers lone goal scorer was Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (10) who broke the Oilers shutout streak at 154:09. Mike Smith made 26 saves in the win for his ninth start in the last twelve games. Edmonton is currently on a three game losing streak after having won five straight games.

St.louis 3 Anaheim 2 Final
Anaheim closes in on ten straight losses with the loss to St.Louis. St.Louis’s Oskar Sundqvist (4) had a goal and assist, Torey Krug had two assists, and Braden Schenn (11) and Zach Sanford (7) each scored in the Blues win. David Perron got an assist to extend his point streak to four games (1G-3A-4P). Jordan Binnington made 27 saves as he started for the seventh time in the last eight games. The Blues are on a three game winning streak following losing four of five. The Ducks had the only lineup change with Troy Terry, Danton Heinen and David Backes coming in for Nick Deslauriers, Derek Grant and Max Jones. Anaheim’s Max Comtois (9) and Rickard Rakell (3) each scored while Trevor Zegras had a assist for his first NHL point in his fifth NHL game. Cam Fowler has a five games point and assist streak (1G-6A-7P). John Gibson made 18 saves in his third straight start. The Ducks are on a eight game losing streak and have lost ten of their past twelve.
St.Louis is 2nd in the West 13-8-2 record, 28 points, 5 points above the playoff line, 23 games played.

Vegas 5 Minnesota 1 Final
Vegas sweeps their two game set with the Wild after last night’s win. William Karlsson (6), Chandler Stephenson (6), Mark Stone (5), and Alex Tuch (9) each had a goal and assist in the game while Nick Hague had two assists and Jonathan Marchessault (7) scored for Vegas. Marc Andre-Fleury made 36 saves in the win and started a tenth consecutive game. Vegas is on a four game winning streak following losing four of the previous five. The only lineup change was for the Wild where they put in Kyle Rau and Gerald Mayhew and took out Zach Parise and Ryan Hartman. Minnesota’s lone goal scorer was Nick Foligno (7). Cam Talbot made 23 saves in the loss and has started three of the last four games. Minnesota has now lost back to back games following a six game winning streak.

Arizona 3 Los Angeles 2 Final
Arizona beats a rival in a playoff race that slows down LA. Arizona’s goal scorer’s were Clayton Keller (7), Nick Schmaltz (7), and Johan Larsson (3). Antti Raanta made 40 saves in the victory and made his second straight start. Even with the win Arizona has lost two of three and four of their last seven games. The only lineup change was for Arizona where they put in Connor Garland and took out Dryden Hunt. LA had Gabriel Vilardi (6) and Drew Doughty (6) each score in the loss. Jonathan Quick made 20 saves in the Los Angeles loss. The Kings are currently on a three game losing streak following a six game winning streak.

Los Angeles is 6th in the West 9-8-4 record, 22 points, 3 points back of a playoff spot, 21 games played.
Colorado 4 San Jose 0 Final
Colorado earns a spilt of the two game set with San Jose following beating the sharks by four. Mikko Rantanen got two goals (9 and 10)and two assists while Gabriel Landeskog had a goal (6) and scored three assists, and also Nazem Kadri had two assists and Samuel Girad scored (4). Nathan Mackinnon has a assist and extended his point streak to four (1G-3A-4P). Philip Grubauer who has started in 17 of the Avalanche’s 20 games had 26 saves for the shutout. Colorado has now won three of the last four games. The only lineup change was for San Jose who took out Marcus Sorensen and put in Joachim Blichfeld. San Jose was shutout by Colorado for the second time this season. Because the Sharks were shutout it means that Kevin Labanc, Evander Kane, Logan Couture, and Rudolfs Balcers each had their four game point streaks snapped. Martin Jones made 34 saves in the loss and has started three of the last four games. The Sharks have now lost four of the last six games.
