Whitcloud to get flipped?

 Flames may be open to flipping Whitecloud at deadline.

Hey everyone, today we head to the Flames as according to a few recent reports the Flames could be looking to deal a defender they recently just acquired.

Now according to Elliotte Friedman he wonders and I have seen this from a couple of other sources too, that Zach Whitecloud, who recently just got acquired by the Calgary Flames from the Vegas Golden Knights in the Rasmuss Andersson trade. So he was part of the trade package that Vegas gave Calgary as part of the Rasmuss Andersson trade and now even though he was acquired and he's a really solid #4 or 5 defensemen, Friedman and a couple of other people have said maybe his stay in Calgary won’t be too long and he wonders if maybe the Calgary Flames look to try and flip Zach Whitecloud before this year's trade deadline.

Now, it's not something that's urgent and they don't have to do this right now as It's not like he's pending UFA who they need to flip at the deadline. Whitecloud has this year plus two more seasons left afterwards at a $2.75 million AAV, like it's not an overly egregious AAV. He's a serviceable fourth or fifth defensemen, he can play second or third pair minutes, he’s not the greatest offensive guy, but a really sound mind defensively and the Flames right now are not a really good playoff team, they’re going to sell off some pieces before the deadline and there’s been a whole bunch of talk after the Andersson trade about the Flames moving Coleman or Kadri, but Whitecloud seems to be another name that potentially could wind up getting moved. 

I mean, he's a younger type defensemen, he’s not overly old as he is only 29 years old, he’s got a couple of years left of term, so for teams who need some more second pair defensive help on the right side and are looking for someone who's not overly old, Whitecloud would fit that bill, especially given he’s a guy who's more defensively minded. So, I could definitely see that, now I'm not going to say it's a guarantee he gets dealt because once again, he is signed for beyond this year. So, they could do something like that in the off-season or later on, but if there was a couple of teams out there who would pony up a big enough asking price, I could see Whitecloud get flipped by the Calgary Flames at the deadline and Friedman does wonder if maybe the Boston Bruins could be a landing spot. 

The Bruins had some major interest in Rasmus Andersson weren't able to land him. So Friedman wonders if maybe Whitecloud could get flipped to the Boston Bruins so Boston still gets their D upgrade. So very interesting to note there, but it's a very interesting thing we're going to have to watch out for as after being acquired in the Andersson trade, there's a very likely chance that we could see a Zach Whitecloud trade before the trade deadline, So we will have to wait and see on that but keep an eye on the Flames as they could move a few pieces and Whitecloud might be one of them, but I would love to hear your thought below in the comments and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel.
