Schneider to Sharks?

Sharks have massive interest in Braden Schneider?

Hey everyone, in today’s blog post we take a look at something that Pagnotta recently mentioned and that was the fact that the Sharks may have some serious interest in a Rangers potentially available defender.

Now recently Pagnotta was talking about the San Jose Sharks and the New York Rangers and he said this a couple of days ago, but I never got around to touching on this in one of my recent trade videos, but he does say that it sounds like the Sharks have some serious interest in Rangers pending RFA defenseman Braden Schneider. Now, when I first talked about the Rangers on my YouTube channel after they put out their letter that they were going to retool, I talked about Schneider being a potential trade piece. He's a RFA, he is on the younger side of things and he's a guy that I think could want to get moved because the Rangers are going to try and go through some sort of retool and he may not want to stay for it.

Now, he's a guy who I could see the Rangers keeping because he's only an RFA and because he's a piece of their top four on the blueline. So I could see them try and keep him, but if they really want to go through a retool and really want to start to sell off some pieces, Schneider would make some sense because he would have a lot of value on the open market. A young, top four, right shot defensemen who can get some points. That's something that a lot of teams will line up out the door looking for and it seems like it sounds like the Sharks might be at the front of the teams trying to acquire him.

Now, we've talked about the Sharks blue line, how they could move off of one or two Pending UFA’s because they really want to try and get younger, but also they don't want to have potentially five pending UFA defensemen on their roster after the trade deadline and potentially not move on any of them and risk letting 5 good assets walk away for nothing in the offseason. So even though they're in a playoff spot, they're still a team who is trying to recoup at least a little bit of assets on some UFA’s. So as I talked about on my YouTube channel, do not be surprised if the Sharks move off of a couple Pending UFA’s, but another thing that the Sharks have been potentially looking at is adding someone who can really grow with their team on the blue line.

Now they don't have a ton of really elite level defensive players so adding Schneider would be really good. Schneider could get top pair minutes on the San Jose Sharks team potentially with Sam Dickinson for years to come and the Sharks have the money to pay Schneider who's probably going to want like $5 or $6 million on a new extension. So, I think this would be a good deal if it did happen for the Sharks, I think Schneider would be a perfect fit for the Sharks and if they were to move guys like Ferraro or Liljegren or Klingberg for potentially recouping a little bit of assets, you can put Schneider in there and he’d be an instant upgrade to the Sharks top four. So no guarantees by any means anything happens, but I think that would be a perfect fit for Braden Schneider, in the Sharks organization and I think the Rangers could probably get like a second round pick and really good prospect or maybe something close to a first round pick if they were to make a Braden Schneider trade and I think the return they could get might just be too much to pass up.

So, we'll have to wait and see on that, but I definitely think that could be a really good trade option for the San Jose Sharks. So keep your eyes on San Jose as they have said in the past that they wanted a young blueliner and this may be the way they get it, and I would love to hear your thoughts below and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel as well.
