Lafreniere trade coming?

 Rangers considering a Lafreniere deal?

Hey everyone, in today’s blog we head over to the big apple as with the Rangers going into retool mode there is apparently a young forward who was a former high pick who they may be open to dealing.

Now Lafreniere who is a  former first overall pick from I think back in the 2020 draft, it’s been an up and down career for him so far as he started off very very slow and I think it was 2 or 3 years ago, he had a really good season and earned himself a long-term extension and since then it has not looked overly good in the New York Rangers organization. So now there's more talks that if the Rangers are going to go through a retool or a rebuild, maybe they do consider moving Alexis Lafreniere and according to David Pagnotta, there's apparently a willingness from the New York Rangers to explore a sort of hockey trade with Alexis Lafreniere.

So we should wait and see what happens there as I believe Lafreniere is signed for five or six more seasons at a $7.8 million cap hit and for what he's producing right now, he’s not living up to that contract, but you got to take it with a grain of salt, he is on the younger side of things, he is a former first overall pick and I think in the right situation, he could blossom into a really solid sort of power forward type player who can buy up between 60 and 70 points consistently. So I don't know what the Rangers would want for Lafreniere as he's a player on a longer term deal and one of their younger guys. So I would think they would want a first round pick and a really solid prospect + more or if they want to move him in some sort of a hockey trade they would probably want a really good established young NHL player in return.

So I'm not exactly sure if it will happen because this would be a blockbuster deal if it was to happen before the trade deadline, but I'm starting to hear a little bit more about a Lafreniere trade at some point, so we're going to have to wait and see on that, but I keep hearing the New York Rangers potentially considering trades for Lafreniere, Trocheck, we already talked about Panarin and Soucy, so the Rangers seem like a team that's open for business and they are going to retool and retool hard so they are a team to keep an eye on especially when it comes to Lafreniere, so definitely let me know what you think down below and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel as well.
