Svechnikov wants out of Carolina?
Hey everyone, today we are going over to the Carolina Hurricanes as we look at a report from a few weeks ago that could indicate that Canes star Andrei Svechnikov is unhappy in Carolina and wants a fresh start.
Now on a Saturday night headline segment on hockey night in Canada a few weeks ago, Elliotte Friedman was talking about a couple of things and a very interesting thing he mentioned is when the Carolina Hurricanes organization earlier in the year as doing good and Jarvis was playing fantastic hockey and Svechnikov was stuffed on the fourth line, apparently Svechnikov was not overly thrilled with that role and Elliotte Friedman says on Saturday Night Headlines that Svechnikov was open to a trade and he was open to being dealt back about a month or two ago now.
Now that in my opinion is surprising. Now, since then, Svechnikov has been bumped up, back into the top six and has started to score more, so I think that's sort of an unlikely deal to happen at this point in time. But, if Svechnikov finds himself back on the fourth line or the third line, not getting the minutes he wants, it's going to be a very interesting situation to watch. Svechnikov hasn't been overly great over the past couple years as he's been productive, no doubt, but he hasn't been as productive as he was the first couple of years at the NHL level.
So I'm not exactly sure if the Canes are open to dealing him or not, I would think probably not. And apparently according to Elliot Freeman, it would have taken a monster offer to get Svechnikov out of Carolina, but it seems like the situation has sort of cooled down as of now with Svechnikov getting a little more playing time and being higher in the lineup.
However if that situation goes a little bit wonky again and he goes back to being a bottom six forward, I expect some more rumors will potentially start to come out about a potential Svechnikov trade, so we'll have to wait and see on that and no guarantees by any means he gets movedespecially in my opinion. I think at this point in time Svechnikov will not get moved, but it's very interesting that he was very open to the idea of a trade and I think if he gets lower in the lineup again, we could see a Svechnikov deal, especially if it was a monster offer that a team offered, so we'll have to wait and see on that but keep your eye on Svechnikov over the next month or two and don’t forget to leave a comment below and check out my YouTube channel.
