Kyrou trade coming?

 Kyrou was scratched, trade coming?

In today’s blog post we are looking at the St.Louis Blues as recently the Blues scratched star forward Kyrou and with his name coming up in the offseason, what could this mean for his time in St.Louis.

Now The Blues have had an abysmal start to this season, they are entering Monday the 17th 3 games below .500 and had a 7 game losing streak earlier in the year so  they have had a terrible start to the season. The only team they are currently ahead of right now is the Calgary Flames and they are tied with Nashville for 2nd worst in the NHL, and are only ahead because they've played less games than them and the Blues are at 16 points right now. So, they are basically dead last in the NHL and It has been a terrible start for the St. Louis Blues. They've not been getting saves from Binnington and Hofer. The defense hasn't looked great. They gave up eight goals to the Blackhawks earlier in the year and while They've had some decent offensive productions it has not been as much as you would expect. Like Buchnevich has been a no-show, Holloway’s regressed a whole bunch from his production from last year, so like the season's really gone off the rails so far for the St.Louis Blues and unless there's some sort of another miracle comeback like the one they had last year or the year that went to the cup, I don't think the St. Louis Blues are a playoff team this year.

And some surprising news came out before they played Buffalo a week or two ago  which was that they healthy scratched Jordan Kyrou. That is insane. So Kyrou’s actually not been one of their worst forwards so far this year, he’s actually been one of their better forwards. So to see him get scratched is a little bit of a shocker. Now he is signed for six more years at a $8.125 million cap hit and now it might just be one healthy scratch and done as I don't think he was scratched because there was a trade imminent or something, But the reason I bring this up is because his name came up a couple months ago in the offseason in trade speculation.

There was a whole bunch of speculation that some teams could wind up trying to trade for Kyrou before his no movement clause kicked in on July 1st, there was even some reports that the Montreal Canadians had made a big push trying to acquire him and they weren't able to do so. So, he's now got a no movement clause, so he really decides if he wants to leave or if he wants to stay, but given the start the St. Louis Blues have had, I would think Kyrou would be at least moderately open to the idea of a trade and if things got really bad in St.Louis, could they consider a Jordan Kyrou trade again?

Like, I think it's a possibility. I think there'll be teams out there who would be open to taking his $8 million cap hit. And I think there'll be some teams out there who would definitely have some interest. We know Montreal had some high levels of interest in the off season, so could they still have some interest right now? I do think they could still have some serious interest, although I do think they'd be more prone to go after a second line center right now rather than a Kyrou like player, but other teams who have an abundance of picks or prospects, who have some cap space and who could use another top six winger, I think would love to add a guy like Jordan Kyrou.

Teams that come to mind would be Utah, we've heard about them trying to add some sort of a big upgrade, I could see him go heavy after Kyrou. Anaheim, they've had a fantastic start to the year, they have picks and prospects galore, I could see them make some sort of a big push to try and get Kyrou and a team who really comes to mind recently is Seattle, they have had a really solid start to the year as well and they lack a superstar talent on the forward group, Kyrou is a superstar level talent and the Seattle Kraken do have four first round picks over the next two years draft. So they could put together some sort of a big package with maybe a couple first round picks, maybe a former first round pick prospect or a really solid prospect they have in their system and a roster player or two. Like the Kraken do have the potential to make some sort of a big trade happen.

So I think there's probably a couple other teams out there who would love to add a guy like Jordan Kyrou and although I don't think as many teams could try and do it without major retention or being traded another player back, I think Seattle, Anaheim, and Utah would be the three most likeliest options in my opinion and then of course Montreal. So we should wait and see on that. No guarantees that Kyrou is going to get dealt and no guarantees that they even consider that. But it's very interesting to see them healthy scratch him and if they are still having a bad season leading up to trade deadline, I could see them consider moving Kyrou and I could see Kyrou be open to the possibility of a move and I could see the Kraken Ducks, Mammoth and Habs amongst maybe a couple of other teams have some major interest in trading for Kyrou. So we should wait and see on that, but keep your eyes on the Blues for a potential Kyrou deal, and I thanks for your guys support and love to hear your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel.
