Could NYR look to move Othmann?

 Are the Rangers moving Othmann?

In today’s blog post we are talking about the New York Rangers as according to Elliotte Friedman the Rangers are shopping a solid young former 1RD pick and could deal him soon.

So Elliotte Friedman was talking about the New York Rangers recently and he says that the New York Rangers are checking out the possibilities of trading former first round pick Brennan Othmann and looking at what they could possibly get for him. Now, Othmann was a guy who I thought had a very likely chance to make the NHL out of training camp as I thought Othmann and Perreault were definitely going to be top nine forwards to start the season, but both were actually sent to the AHL out of training camp. So after being sent to the AHL, Friedman says that the Rangers started to check in on potential trade offers for Othmann and to try and see what they could work out with other teams in a Othmann trade.

It seems like at this point in time it might just be better to get Othmann a fresh start as he doesn't seem to be working overly well in the Rangers organization, but I still think he has the potential to be a solid top nine forward in another team's organization. So once again, we shall see what happens here. No guarantees Othmann does get dealt because he's still a really young prospect and could still really help the Rangers.

However there's definitely a lot of other teams out there who I think would really like to acquire Othmann and I think he's on year 2 or year 3 of his ELC, so he's on the cheaper side of things. He's almost going to be an RFA and he’s not going to cost too much out of his ELC when he becomes an RFA, so we shall wait and see what happens there, but Friedman has said that after sending Othmann to the AHL, they have started checking out the possibilities of an Othmann trade and we could see an Othmann trade happen in the coming weeks, So wait and see on that, but I think that's a very interesting possibility and I could see the Rangers try and move Othmann, especially if it was like a bigger package, and I would love to hear your thoughts below on what we discussed today and don’t forget to stay tuned from more posts and check out my YouTube channel.
