First Trade bait board of 2024: 25 players

 25 player trade bait board.

We have just passed the 2 month mark until this year's NHL trade deadline and it sounds like trade talk is picking up already and should pick up even more over the next couple of weeks, so I felt it was probably time to do my first trade bait board of the year and we will start with 25 and work are way back up to 50 in the next couple of weeks, but there are definitely a few interesting names that I feel could be dealt this year so here is my first trade board of the year with 25 players on it.

End to End Hockey's top 25 trade bait board.

Sergei Belski USA Today Sports

1) Elias Lindholm
Contract Status: rest of this year at $4.85 Million.
Stats: 8-20-28 in 42GP
Position: C
Age: 29
Quick Analysis: Now Lindholm in my opinion is right now the biggest trade chip and try as they might have in the offseason and early part of the year, the Flames haven't signed him and with them being a bubble team and Lindholm a UFA after the year, expect him to probably be dealt, and it will probably take at least a 1st and really good prospect but teams who need Center help should be calling.

2) Noah Hanifin
Contract Status: rest of this year at $4.95 Million.
Stats: 7-16-23 in 42GP
Position: LD
Age: 26
Quick Analysis: now at 2 we have year another Flame as Hanifin is another player on the Flames who is a UFA after the year and to this point hasn't signed a new deal, now he is probably more likely to sign a extension then the other Flames and it does sound like they are talking, but after all the trade speculation in the offseason and in season I do suspect he will get moved and it will probably take a huge ask of a first and good prospect to get him, but he could definitely upgrade a contenders blueline.

3) Jake Allen
Contract Status: rest of this year + 1 more at $3.85 Million.
Stats: 3.52 GAA and a .900 SV%  in 14GP
Position: G
Age: 33
Quick Analysis: Now at 3 we have the Habs goalie that most think is the likeliest to get dealt, as the Canadiens went into the year with a 3 headed goalie monster and after signing Montembeault to a extension and seeing some progress from Primeau, it seems like Allen is the one heading out the door and he isn't a rental as he is also signed for next year and his cap hit isn't the greatest, but if a team who needs goalie help is willing to move a 1st or 2nd and a prospect to Montreal I think they would happily trade Allen before the deadline.

4) Thomas Chabot
Contract Status: rest of this year + 4 more at $8 Million.
Stats: 0-8-8 in 15GP
Position: LD
Age: 26
Quick Analysis: next we have Senators defensemn Thomas Chabot, now usually he wouldn't be a guy that would make a lot of sense to deal, but the Senators are having a awful season this year and could probably benefit from a core player being dealt and Chabot makes the most sense as they already have 2 top 4 D on the left side of the blueline in Sanderson and Chychrun and it may be the move this team needs to sort of wake up, so I am not going to say it is 100% he is going, but this team needs a reset and moving Chabot may be what they do, and they would probably want another player back in return, but Chabot would be a massive add to any teams blueline.

5) Chris Tanev
Contract Status: rest of this year at $4.5 Million.
Stats: 1-7-8 in 39GP
Position: RD
Age: 34
Quick Analysis: And here we are again as we have another Flames blueliner here in Chris Tanev, now Tanev just like the other two Flames is going to be a UFA at the end of the year and with it looking like he won't resign, there is a very likely chance that he will also be dealt and he is the guy most people would like on their team, a RD who is playoff tested and could fit in really well in the playoffs, so I would expect it to cost a 2nd round pick to acquire him, but he will be a name we really have to watch out for at the deadline.

6) Sean Walker
Contract Status: rest of this year at $2.65 Million.
Stats: 4-9-13 in 41GP
Position: LD/RD
Age: 29
Quick Analysis: next we go over to 6 and that is where I have Sean Walker, now the Flyers are a rebuilding team and I know they are having a good season and I think that may make them less inclined to deal some of their players with term, but I don't think that will stop them from dealing some of their UFA's and I think with how well Walker has played this year and the return they could get for him of a 2nd and solid prospect, I think he will definitely be moved and it is just a matter of time.

7) Mario Ferraro
Contract Status: rest of this year + 2 more at $3.25 Million.
Stats: 1-10-11 in 42GP
Position: LD
Age: 25
Quick Analysis: now Ferraro here is a very interesting situation, as the Sharks have apparently said they would be open to moving the young defender and they are really open for business given the fact that they are one of the worst teams in the league right now, but I think with Ferarro's age he is less likely to be moved then some other guys in San Jose, but if the Sharks get a offer they can't refuse I think they would make a trade and for a young cost controlled D-Men, I think lots of teams would have interest.

8) John Gibson
Contract Status: rest of this year + 3 more at $6.4 Million.
Stats: 3.10 GAA and a .900 SV% in 26GP
Position: G
Age: 30
Quick Analysis: Next we go over to maybe the biggest name out there on the trade market in terms of goalies and that is John Gibson as after a year or two of speculation we could finally be getting a Gibson trade from Anaheim, as he is still a solid number 1 goalie and with the way Dostal is playing right now, he is also expendable and with Gibson sounding like he wants to be on a contender, I think there will be teams who have interest in moving possibly a 1st round pick to get the solid starter from Anaheim.

9) Travis Konecny
Contract Status: rest of this year + 1 more at $5.5 Million.
Stats: 21-16-37 in 41GP
Position: RW,LW
Age: 26
Quick Analysis: now as we talked about the Flyers are having a outstanding season this year, and may not be so inclined to trade guys with term such as Konecny, but he has proven this year that he is a solid top six forward and with him being a UFA next offseason, the Flyers could look to cash in on his value which may never be higher and deal him at the deadline for a substantial package that could help their team not only for now but in the future too.

10) Sean Monahan
Contract Status: rest of this year at $1.96 Million.
Stats: 11-13-24 in 41GP
Position: FOR
Age: 29
Quick Analysis: now after not being able to deal him last offseason due to the fact of his injury, the Habs wound up resigning Monahan to a cheap 1 year deal and it seemed like they did that with the intension of moving him at the deadline and so far he has stayed remotely healthy and has been putting up solid numbers and could be a guy contenders look to for Center help on the 3rd line, so with the potential to get a solid pick or prospect for him, I think Monahan will be dealt ahead of the deadline.

11) Tyson Barrie
Contract Status: rest of this year at $4.5 Million.
Stats: 1-10-11 in 30GP
Position: RD
Age: 32
Quick Analysis: Now here it seems like we may get a deal just because the fit hasn't been there so far, and that is Barrie who hasn't worked overly well in Nashville since being dealt there last deadline and especially this year, so with that in mind and the fact that he is a pending UFA and has been healthy scratched on occasions this year, I think a trade is likely and although I am not sure what Nashville would want in a deal, I can't see Barrie still with the Preds beyond the deadline.

12) Colton Parayko
Contract Status: rest of this year + 6 more at $6.5 Million.
Stats: 7-6-13 in 40GP
Position: RD
Age: 30
Quick Analysis: now the Blues have been a very up and down team this year and even fired their head coach and I think the main problem on this team that needs to be rectified that wasn't in the offseason is the blueline as I still think they need to rework the backend and guys like Parayko or Krug are likely trade candidates, but I think Paryako is the most likely as he is signed long term and makes a decent cap hit but is also having himself a fantastic year so far and I think a team could definitely use him in their top 4 so if the Blues are sellers at the deadline I think it would be extremely likely that Parayko may be one of the guys to go.

13) Adam Boqvist
Contract Status: rest of this year + 1 more at $2.6 Million.
Stats: 0-5-5 in 15GP
Position: RD
Age: 23
Quick Analysis: now Boqvist's name has been in the rumour mill for a while now as the Jackets continue to try and offload a defensemen from their crowded blueline and I still think Boqvist makes the most sense as he is a solid offensive defensemen who could really improve a teams 3rd pair and not only is he on the younger side but will be a RFA when his deal is done and I think would make a great 3rd pair D for a lot of teams so he is another blueliner we have to watch out for as we near the deadline.

14) Frank Vatrano
Contract Status: rest of this year + 1 more at $3.65 Million.
Stats: 20-10-30 in 41GP
Position: LW,RW
Age: 29
Quick Analysis: now Vatrano is not a pending UFA so it is not a guarantee that he will be moved before the deadline, but he is having one heck of a season that lead him to be a all-star this year and would definitely be a fantastic middle six addition that a playoff team could not only use for this year but for next season too and with Anaheim being sellers and Vatrano's trade value probably never going to be higher, I think there is a good chance he could be dealt at the deadline.

15) Tony DeAngelo
Contract Status: rest of this year at $1.68 Million.
Stats: 2-7-9 in 21GP
Position: RD
Age: 28
Quick Analysis: now Deangelo is another guy who really hasn't found his role so far this year as after signing with Carolina this past offseason to be back with them and a solid offensive D-Men, he so far hasn't been able to find his stride and has consistently been healthy scratched by the Hurricanes and has sort of been put on the block, but I do think there are some teams out there who would love to add a cheap 3rd pair offensive D for a cup run this year and so I do think sooner or later DeAngelo will be dealt.

16) Nick Seeler
Contract Status: rest of this year at $.775 Thousand.
Stats: 0-7-7 in 41GP
Position: LD/RD
Age: 30
Quick Analysis: now Seeler is sort of in the same boat as Walker is right now in Philly as he is having a really solid season on the 3rd pair of the Flyers right now and the way they are playing Philly would probably love to extend them, but Seeler just like Walker is a pending UFA and most likely won't remain in Philly beyond this year so with that in mind I think Philly will move Seeler prior to the deadline for whatever pick they can get.

17) David Savard
Contract Status: rest of this year + 1 more at $3.5 Million.
Stats: 4-6-10 in 19GP
Position: RD
Age: 33
Quick Analysis: now Savard is another name we have heard the Canadiens possibly be rumoured to be looking to move as Savard is a solid veteran defensemen but one who they probably wouldn't keep long term, so instead of holding on to him they could deal him before the deadline where a team would be able to get two playoff runs with Savard instead of one and he is also a playoff type D-Men a lot of teams would be looking for so watch out as I think Savard will be moved before the deadline.

18) Anthony Duclair
Contract Status: rest of this year at $3 Million.
Stats: 7-7-14 in 38GP
Position: LW,RW
Age: 28
Quick Analysis: now I feel that of the plenty Sharks player who are currently in the final year of their deal and could be moved by the deadline, Duclair is the most likely guy to be dealt as he is a speedy middle six forward who hasn't had the best of years this season in San Jose but with better linemates on a contending team he should do much better, so I seriously do feel that with Duclair's track record and his reasonable $3 Million dollar Cap Hit that he will definitely be one of the Sharks on the move in the next few months.

19) Patrick Kane
Contract Status: rest of this year at $2.75 Million.
Stats: 6-8-14 in 17GP
Position: RW
Age: 35
Quick Analysis: now we were just talking about where Kane would sign just a little over a month ago and now he appears on my first trade bait board of 2024, Kane has been a fantastic addition with the Red Wings so far and is currently almost a point per game, but Detroit isn't doing as well at this point in time as they were doing earlier in the year and they could definitely be sellers come deadline time and there was speculation that Detroit may move Kane if they were sellers and with how Kane has done so far, I think a team would definitely be interested in Kane come deadline time and I think he could definitely be moved.

20) Adam Henrique
Contract Status: rest of this year at $5.83 Million.
Stats: 10-12-22 in 40GP
Position: LW,C
Age: 33
Quick Analysis: now the Ducks have not been good this year which is why so many of those players are on this list, but maybe the most likely candidate from Anaheim is Henrique who is actually having himself a pretty solid season and with him being a UFA and a guy who a lot of teams could use as a solid 3rd line Center come playoff time, I do seriously think that Henrique will be moved by the Ducks even if they have to retain some money and the return they could get for him may surprise some people.

Per Haljestam USA Today Sports

21) Vladimir Tarasenko
Contract Status: rest of this year at $5 Million.
Stats: 9-17-26 in 35GP
Position: RW
Age: 32
Quick Analysis: now we discussed earlier about how Ottawa is having a pretty horrific season and that could lead to them moving on from some of their players, and I think the most likely guy to go in Ottawa if they are sellers is Tarasenko who is having a pretty solid year and is only signed for the rest of this year, so with him potential being a Rental, I could see Ottawa capitalize on his value and move him to a team who could desperately use a middle six forward and some extra scoring depth come playoff time.

22) Oliver Wahlstrom
Contract Status: rest of this year at $.874 Thousand.
Stats: 2-3-5 in 20GP
Position: RW
Age: 23
Quick Analysis: now Wahlstrom has struggled his entire career to find a home on the long island roster and after showing glimmers of hope last year before being injured, he has once again struggled this year and been a healthy scratch on multiple occasions and I am starting to think a fresh start would do him good so I do feel he will be moved and whether it is in a big trade to help them upgrade some part of their team for a playoff run or just for a different player, I feel there is a strong likelihood that Wahlstrom's time in NYI is coming to a end.

23) Alex Barabanov
Contract Status: rest of this year at $2.5 Million.
Stats: 3-4-7 in 22GP
Position: RW,LW
Age: 29
Quick Analysis: now here is another Sharks pending UFA who I feel will get tons of attention at the deadline and that is Alex Barabanov, now he did miss quite a significant period of time earlier this year but has been picking up the pace quite well recently and I do feel after the year he had last season putting up over 45 points and on a extremely reasonable deal, there is a good chance in my eyes that he is gone by the deadline and a cup contender may be willing to acquire him as a depth scorer.

24) Dante Fabbro
Contract Status: rest of this year at $2.5 Million.
Stats: 2-7-9 in 32GP
Position: RD
Age: 25
Quick Analysis: now Fabbro is another Predator defensemen who I could see on his way out of Nashville in the not too distant future, now Fabbro came into the Predators lineup not too long ago but hasn't lived up to expectations and I do wonder if a fresh start could be in the works as we have heard his name in the rumour mill and there would be no shortage of interest in a young Right Shot defensemen, so if the Preds find the right package I could see Fabbro on the move.

25) Matt Grzelyck
Contract Status: rest of this year at $3.69 Million.
Stats: 2-4-6 in 27GP
Position: LD
Age: 30
Quick Analysis: and lastly here we have Matt Grzelyck, now Grzelyck is a part of the Bruins lineup and they are a team destined for the playoffs, so one might wonder why he is on this trade board, and the answer is he has sort of fell out of favour in Boston and has been scratched a couple of times, and with the team in a money in money out situation, they may need to move out a guy like Grzelyck to improve their team, so with those things in mind I find it extremely likely that Grzelyck will be moved come the trade deadline.

Honourable Mentions: Jacob Markstrom, Victor Olofsson, Andrei Kuzmenko
