Updated post draft End to End Hockey trade board

After a entertaining draft some of the players on my trade board have gone so I have updated the board with 10 new players including a new number 1 following the DeBrincat trade and it is a disgruntled forward from the St.Louis organization.

The End to end hockey top 50 trade bait list.

Note: I did this list before the Murray trade this afternoon.

Jeff Curry USA Today Sports

1 Vladimir Tarasenko (ST.L)

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: 1 year left at $7.5 Million

Previous years stats: 34G-48A-82P in 75GP

Position: Right Winger

Quick Analysis: Tarasenko has requested a trade last year and after this year it sounded like he was okay staying in St.Louis but that doesn’t sound like the case as he hasn’t rescinded his trade request and still wants to be moved out of St.Louis and after the year he had the Blues should definitely have better offers then last year and if a team misses on a UFA forward I would definitely see them pivot to Tarasenko and I think Tarasenko is definitely worthy of being number 1 on my board.

2 Jacob Chychrun (ARI)

Previous ranking: 3RD

Contract: 3 years left at $4.6 Million

Previous years stats: 7G-14A-21P in 47GP

Position: Defensemen

Quick Analysis: the defensemen didn’t get traded at the draft which I am surprised at but with teams like Ottawa and Columbus still interested and Chychrun wanting out of the Coyotes organization and with Chychrun being the best D-Men available via trade I have no doubt that a team will try to trade for him around free agency.

Kamil Krzaczynski USA Today Sports

3 Patrick Kane (CHI)

Previous ranking: 13th

Contract: 1 year left at $10.5 Million

Previous years stats: 26G-66A-92P in 78GP

Position: Right Winger

Quick Analysis: Kane jumps up 10 spots as with the DeBrincat and Dach trades I think he is now more willing to waive his NMC and facilitate a move out of the rebuilding Blackhawks organization and to a contender.

4 Ivan Provorov

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: 3 years left at $6.75 Million

Previous years stats: 9G-22A-31P in 79GP

Position: Left side defensemen

Quick Analysis: Provorov’s name has been mentioned throughout last season and even recently as he hasn’t played to the level the Flyers know he is capable of playing and after acquiring DeAngelo and still wanting to go after Gaudreau they need cap space and moving Provorov who still has top 4 capabilities to get him a fresh start and then cap space could be a move we see in the very near future.

5 John Gibson (ANA)

Previous ranking: 4th

Contract: 5 years left at $6.4 Million

Previous years stats: 3.19 GAA, .904 SV% in 56GP

Position: Goaltender

Quick Analysis: while he has stated that he doesn’t want to go to Toronto, I think that with very few free agent starting goalies and more teams looking for a starter I believe that the Ducks will get a offer in the next few days they can’t refuse.

6 J.T Miller (VAN)

Previous ranking: 2nd

Contract: 1 year left at $5.25 Million

Previous years stats: 32G-67A-99P in 80GP

Position: Left Winger, Center

Quick Analysis: after the trade that didn’t go through with NYI and the report that they aren’t letting any acquiring team talk extension with Miller made me put him down a bit but I still think he will be a prime trade target around free agency for teams who miss out on players in free agency.

7 Anthony Beauvillier (NYI)

Previous ranking: 8th

Contract: 2 years left at $4.15 Million

Previous years stats: 12G-22A-34P in 75GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: with the Islanders still in the market for a scoring forward but it sounding like they are not too keen on moving Bailey or Varlamov it seems like moving Beauviller is the best option for gaining cap space and his name is one I would keep an eye on over the next week.

8 Travis Konecny (PHI)

Previous ranking: 11th

Contract: 3 years left at $5.5 Million

Previous years stats: 16G-36A-52P in 79GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: the Flyers still seem to be in the market to add a scoring forward but after acquiring DeAngelo it would be hard to get another forward with their cap space so moving a guy like Konecny might help their chances to sign a new forward.

Kyle Terada USA Today Sports

9 Brent Burns (SJ)

Previous ranking: 12th

Contract: 3 years left at $8 Million

Previous years stats: 10G-44A-54P in 82GP

Position: Right side Defensemen

Quick Analysis: the Sharks are pressed up against the cap and could use some cap relief and with it looking like Karlsson is staying and Vlasic won’t be bought out I think that Burns is the best way for them to get cap space and with him being a solid top 4 defensemen I think they would still be a market for him.

10 Connor Brown (OTT)

Previous ranking: 10th

Contract: 1 year left at $3.6 Million

Previous years stats: 10G-29A-39P in 64GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: with the reports that Brown will want to test free agency next year it seems as though a trade is more likely as he is a very good middle six forward and Ottawa can move his contract to give a spot to someone else next year.

11 Kaapo Kakko (NYR)

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: pending RFA

Previous years stats: 7G-11A-18P in 43GP

Position: Right Winger

Quick Analysis: Kakko’s name has come up in trade rumours ever since his scratch in Game 6 of the Confrence final but I have heard his name recently maybe being included in a package to get a top 6 Center and it doesn’t seem like they have full confidence in Kakko so while I definitely don’t think they will give him away for nothing or they may not even trade him but I for one wouldn’t be shocked if he does end up moving.

12 One of Pittsburgh defensemen (PIT)

(Marino, Pettersson, Dumoulin, Matheson)

Previous ranking: 7th

Contract: N/A

Previous years stats: N/A

Position: N/A

Quick Analysis: the Penguins need to clear cap space if they are going to sign any of their UFA’s or even RFA’s for that matter and moving a defensemen would be smart as these 4 all make over $4 Million dollars so moving one to clear cap space and open a roster spot would be smart.

13 One of Montreal’s veteran wingers (MON)

(Hoffman, Armia, Drouin, Anderson)

Previous ranking: 44th

Contract: 1 year left at $5.5 Million

Previous years stats: 6G-14A-20P in 34GP

Position: Forward

Quick Analysis: the Canadiens have very little cap space right now and with the amount of veteran wingers they have I think they will move one or two of them because they need to create cap space and a Petry isn’t imminent and they also need to open a spot on the roster for younger players so expect a few wingers in Montreal to be moved soon.

14 Pavel Zacha (NJ)

Previous ranking: 32nd

Contract: Pending RFA

Previous years stats: 15G-21A-36P in 70GP

Position: Left Wing, Center

Quick Analysis: the Devils still seem to be in big on some upgrades at the forward position and still want to sign Bratt so to improve this team it sounds like RFA Zacha may have to go as he is a versatile middle six forward and with Jersey looking for a major upgrade they would need a spot on the roster and cap space so moving Zacha is the logical move for the Devils.

15 Matt Murray (OTT)

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: 2 years left at $6.25Million

Previous years stats: 3.05 GAA-.906 SV% in 20GP

Position: Goaltender

Quick Analysis: while his cap hit is bad I think Murray can still be a really good goalie if he can overcome his injury problems as he is a good goalie when healthy and with the little list of starting goalies in the free agent market this year some teams could pivot to a guy like Murray as some teams including the Leafs have already inquired about him and I suspect a Murray trade at some point over the next few days.

16 Ethan Bear (CAR)

Previous ranking: 18th

Contract: Pending RFA

Previous years stats: 5G-9A-14P in 58GP

Position: Right Side Defensemen

Quick Analysis: the Hurricanes are probably not bringing back Bear after he had a bad year as well as had some injuries but I do think that he will be qualified and traded as he still has top 4 potential and for a cheaper defensemen I would suspect there is at least mild interest.

17 Jesse Puljujarvi (EDM)

Previous ranking: 18th

Contract: Pending RFA

Previous years stats: 14G-22A-36P in 65GP

Position: Right Winger

Quick Analysis: there doesn’t seem to be as much interest in Puljujarvi as the Oilers once thought and it does sound like he will get his qualifying offer but I would still expect a trade as he is a good middle six forward and the Oilers don’t have the cap space to sign him.

Eric Hartline USA Today Sports

18 James Van Reimsdyk (PHI)

Previous ranking: 22

Contract: 1 year left at $7 Million

Previous years stats: 24G-14A-38P in 82GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: the third Flyer on this list as it seems that Philly still wants to take a run at Gaudreau but they don’t have cap space so along with Provorov and Konecny it seems that JVR is a trade candidate too as his $7 Million dollar cap hit will be tough to move but if Philly retains $2 Million to make it more doable but better then buying him out then I think the Flyers could convince a team to take him.

19 Alex Iafallo (LA)

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: 3 years left at $4 Million

Previous years stats: 17G-20A-37P in 79GP

Position: Left Winger, Center

Quick Analysis: even after the Kings acquired Kevin Fiala it seems that they want to make their team even better and while they could use a top 4 defensemen or even another top 9 forward they don’t have the cap space to make such moves so moving out cap might be needed and Iafallo is at the top of that list because most of last year he was a 3rd line forward and with the addition of Fiala he has fallen even deeper on the depth chart and with his contract I think that makes him a likely cap casualty for LA.

20 William Nylander (TOR)

Previous ranking: 39

Contract: 2 years left at $6.96 Million

Previous years stats: 34G-46A-80P in 81GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: the only reason that I moved Nylander up is because I still think he could be moved to make a upgrade on the Leafs roster so while I definitely think that there is no  guarantee that he moves, if he does I think it is safe to say it could be the trade of the offseason.

21 Tyler Bertuzzi (DET)

Previous ranking: 25

Contract: 1 year left at $4.75 Million

Previous years stats: 30G-32A-62P in 68GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: the Red Wings have a lot of players entering the final year of their deals and Bertuzzi is the one I see most likely to leave as he is a outstanding goal scorer and has been in the rumour mill for some time and I still think that the Red Wings could get quite a haul for the player.

22 Jeff Petry (MON)

Previous ranking: 9

Contract: 3 years left at $6.25 Million

Previous years stats: 6G-21A-27P in 68GP

Position: Right side Defensemen

Quick Analysis: after not moving Petry over the weekend and moving Romanov I think there is less of a chance that Petry is moved as they could use a veteran like him to play with their young players and it doesn’t seem like the Canadiens are getting the offers they want so while I think he could still move I definitely believe it’s less likely.

23 Conor Garland (VAN)

Previous ranking: 23

Contract: 4 years left at $4.95 Million

Previous years stats: 19G-33A-52P in 77GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: with Miller’s name still a bit up in the air and the Canucks still trying to clear cap space I think Garland is a fall back option if a Miller trade doesn’t go through as he is still young and signed long term and is a really good 5v5 producer and I think there is still plenty of interest in Garland.

24 Cam Talbot (MIN

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: 1 year left at $3.66 Million

Previous years stats: 2.76 GAA-.911 SV% in 49GP

Position: Goaltender

Quick Analysis: after Minnesota resigned Marc Andre Fleury it sounded like Talbot grew frustrated as he lost the starting job to Fleury in the playoffs last season and it might lead to a sour relationship if Fleury is 1A again and it might lead the Wild to trade Talbot even if the Wild’s GM state’s that he likes his tandem and Talbot is staying.

25 Any LA Center Prospects (LA) (Vilardi, Turcotte, Madden, Pinelli and Thomas)

Previous ranking: 17th

Contract: N/A

Previous years stats: N/A

Position: N/A

Quick Analysis: after not moving a Center in the Fiala trade the Kings still have a boatload of elite level prospect Centers and not all can play for LA so I suspect that with reports that the Kings still want to add maybe on the Blueline I think that a Center prospect would be the centrepiece of a trade for LA.

26 Arizona’s cap space (ARI)

Previous ranking: 14th

Contract: N/A

Previous years stats: N/A

Position: N/A

Quick Analysis: the Coyotes have already used a bit of this asset when they acquired draft picks from the Oilers for taking on the Zach Kassian contract but I still feel that they can use more of their cap space on bad contracts so they have used a bit up but I fully expect them to do it again.

27 Ilya Mikheyev (TOR)

Previous ranking: 6th

Contract: pending UFA

Previous years stats:  21G-11A-32P in 53GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: a rights trade for Mikheyev gets less and less likely with each passing hour before free agency but I still think a deal can get done in the next 24 hours or so if the Maple Leafs work hard at it because getting a pick for a player they won’t bring back would be a win for Toronto but they got to get something done in the near future.

28 Tyler Myers (VAN)

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: 2 years left at $6 Million

Previous years stats: 1G-17A-18P in 78GP

Position: Right side defensemen

Quick Analysis: just like Garland and Miller, Myers is another possible cap casualty as the Canucks desperately need cap space and while they do like Myers and might still keep him because he is a good right side defensemen and there aren’t too many of those on market, but his $6 Million dollar cap hit is not a good one and moving on from that might be something that Vancouver needs to do in the next few days.

29 Carson Soucy (SEA)

Previous ranking: 26th

Contract: 1 year left at $2.75 Million

Previous years stats: 10G-11A-21P in 64GP

Position: Defensemen

Quick Analysis: I don’t think that the Kraken are just going to give away Soucy cause they like him but I do think there might be enough interest to persuade the Kraken to deal him as he is a physical top 4 defensemen coming off a career year and is affordable so I think the interest and trade packages will be too much for the Kraken to shy away from.

30 James Reimer (SJ)

Previous ranking: 16th

Contract: 1 year left at $2.25 Million

Previous years stats: 2.90 GAA, .911 SV% in 48GP

Position: Goaltender

Quick Analysis: just like Gibson in Anaheim due to the lack of starters in free agency and the amount of suiters who need starting net minders some teams will go the free agent route and with Reimer only having a year left and playing extremely well in San Jose I do suspect that Reimer will be in play for a team looking to get a possible starter.

31 Lawson Crouse (ARI)

Previous ranking: 41st

Contract: Pending RFA

Previous years stats: 20G-14A-34P in 65GP

Position: Left Winger

Quick Analysis: Crouse is another RFA that could be on the move as the 3rd line forward had a career year last season and with more and more teams looking to get those tough to play against 3rd line forward it makes Crouse a hot commodity but I don’t think Arizona will just give him away and a high price would have to be paid but if a team can meet Arizona’s asking price then I think a deal can get down.

32 Blake Wheeler (WIN)

Previous ranking: 28th

Contract: 2 years left at $8.25 Million

Previous years stats: 17G-43A-60P in 65GP

Position: Right Winger, Center

Quick Analysis: with so many questions facing the Jets about how they will get better, they seem inclined to shake things up a bit and it will probably start with them trading Wheeler as he has not lived up to that contract lately and I think a fresh start would be good to him as he is getting up there in age but is still a very productive middle six forward and if a team is willing to take on his cap hit then I don’t see why a trade wouldn’t happen.

33 Justin Holl (TOR)

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: 1 year left at $2 Million

Previous years stats: 3G-20A-23P in 69GP

Position: Right side defensemen

Quick Analysis: just like Mrazek before he was dealt the Holl is a very probable trade target as the Maple Leafs need cap space and can do without the $2 Million of Holl and on top of that he has fallen out of favour with the Maple Leafs so for a team looking for a 3rd pair defensemen in a short term deal with a cap hit not too high I think they should call the Leafs about Holl.

34 Craig Smith (BOS)

Previous ranking: 50th

Contract: 1 year left at $3.1 Million

Previous years stats: 16G-20A-36P in 74GP

Position: Right Winger, Center

Quick Analysis: with the Bruins basically at the cap but looking to make some improvements to this team they are going to need cap space and Smith is the most likely option as he only has 1 year left on his contract and while his contract isn’t too great he can still be a productive middle six forward and if the Bruins can get a team to bite then I think Smith will be out of there sooner then some think.

35 Patrick Hornqvist (FLO)

Previous ranking: 42nd

Contract: 1 year left at $5.3 Million

Previous years stats: 11G-17A-28P in 65GP

Position: Right Winger

Quick Analysis: Hornqvist is just on way to expensive of a contract in Florida as they can’t really afford his huge cap especially when he was a healthy scratch at times this past year but if the Panthers retained a bit of money I would think there is a market for Hornqvist as he is a good bottom six forward and 2nd power play guy.

36 Filip Zadina (DET)

Previous ranking: 31st

Contract: Pending RFA

Previous years stats: 10G-14A-24P in 74GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: after a season where he fell in the depth charts to playing more of a bottom six role, I think a fresh start is still in the cards for the former first overall pick as the Red Wings I don’t think would be opposed to moving Zadina as long as they can get a good young defender but a fresh start might be the best thing for Zadina.

37 Max Comtois (ANA)

Previous ranking: 33rd

Contract: 1 year left at $2.04 Million

Previous years stats: 6G-10A-16P in 52GP

Position: Left Winger

Quick Analysis: after a year where Comtois lead the Ducks in points he could barely get into the lineup and now it seems like the Ducks are willing to move on from him as they could get a decent pick or prospect for him and I think that Comtois in a different organization could still produce very well as a middle six forward so I think a move for Comtois is definitely in the cards and should happen in short order.

38 Martin Necas (CAR)

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: pending RFA

Previous years stats: 14G-26A-40P in 78GP

Position: Right Winger, Center

Quick Analysis: after the emergence of Jarvis, Necas had his role diminished to a bottom six role and now it seems like a fresh start is in order as he is still a good middle six forward with Carolina and if the Canes could get a young player in return who they could use in a bottom six role or in the defence would be a smart move for the Carolina Hurricanes.

39 Victor Olofsson (BUF)

Previous ranking: 30th

Contract: Pending RFA

Previous years stats: 20G-29A-49P in 72GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: still think there is a chance that Olofsson is moved because even though it sounds like there is interest to work out a new deal I still think that Olofsson’s qualifying offer and his drop on the depth charts might make it a bit difficult to reach a extension so moving him to a team who had a middle six hole and needs a power play specialist is still possible I think.

40 Marco Scandella (ST.L)

Previous ranking: 29th

Contract: 2 years left at $3.28 Million

Previous years stats: 3G-11A-14P in 70GP

Position: Left side Defensemen

Quick Analysis: the Blues seem to be in the market to upgrade their defence and with a limited amount of cap space it seems like Scandella is the prime option to clear cap space as he is a good 3rd pair Defensemen but the Blues have cheaper and younger options for their 3rd pair so moving him to a team who could use a 3rd pair defensemen to clear that cap space is a very likely move.

41 Alec Martinez (VGK)

Previous ranking: 27th

Contract: 2 years left at $5.25 Million

Previous years stats: 3G-5A-8P in 26GP

Position: Left side Defensemen

Quick Analysis: with the Golden Knights needing cap space to not only have a chance to improve their team but also to sign their RFA’s they will need to move out money and I think Martinez is at the top of that list because they have a lot of Defensemen and even tough he is definitely a good defender he is a guy the Golden Knights can make do without and a team in need of a top 4 defensemen should definitely be calling on Martinez.

42 Kevin Labanc (SJ)

Previous ranking: 37

Contract: 2 years left at $4.73 Million

Previous years stats: 3G-3A-6P in 21GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: the young forward has fallen heavily out of favour with the San Jose Sharks as he was a bottom six forward at the beginning of the year before he left as he got injured but I don’t think San Jose likes that contract especially with the production Labanc has given so I think that moving him to a team with cap space and a middle six hole where he can revive his career would be something the Sharks should consider.

43 Christian Dvorak (MON)

Previous ranking 36th

Contract: 3 years left at $4.45 Million

Previous years stats: 11G-22A-33P in 56GP

Position: Center, Left Winger

Quick Analysis: the Canadiens were able to acquire Dach at the draft to be the 2nd line Center behind Suzuki and with that I think that Dvorak could definitely be dealt by the Canadiens as he is more of a second line Center and I would think Dvorak on a 3rd line would not go over too well so moving Dvorak who is a good 2-way Center to a team in need of a top 6 Center should definitely be on the Canadiens radar.

44 Alex Kerfoot (TOR)

Previous ranking: 35th

Contract: 1 year left at $3.5 Million

Previous years stats: 13G-38A-51P in 82GP

Position: Left Wing, Center

Quick Analysis: with the Maple Leafs needing some cap space they could look to deal decent middle six forward Kerfoot who has really improved his game with the Leafs but they could du without his $3.5 Million dollar cap hit and for a team who is interested in adding a solid middle six piece they should be seeing if they can pry Kerfoot out of Toronto.

45 Warren Foegele

Previous ranking: NEW

Contract: 2 years left at $2.75 Million

Previous years stats: 12G-14A-26P in 82GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: Foegele has been a good bottom 6 forward for the Oilers since coming over via trade last year but with the Oilers still wanting more cap space his $2.75 Million dollar cap hit may become too expensive for the Oilers so I would not be surprised if they moved Foegele and tried to fill his role with a cheaper player in free agency.

46 Lars Eller (WAS)

Previous ranking: 45th

Contract: 1 year left at $3.5 Million

Previous years stats: 13G-18A-31P in 72GP

Position: Center

Quick Analysis: the Capitals need as much cap space as they can get to reconstruct their goaltending and add to their ageing D-Corp.and I think moving on from Eller has got to be one of the most likely scenario a for the Caps as they have a few Center prospects led by Lapierre who can fill Eller’s 3rd line Center role and his $3.5 Million dollar cap hit is something the Capitals would love to get off the books so keep and eye on this situation over the next little while.

47 Laurent Brossoit (VGK)

Previous ranking: 15th

Contract: 1 year left at $2.33 Million

Previous years stats: 2.90 GAA, .890 SV% in 24GP

Position: Goaltender

Quick Analysis: like we said with Martinez the Golden Knights need some cap space and moving Brossoit would make a ton of sense as they have Thompson and Lehner and can do without Brossoit’s $2.33 Million dollar cap hit but with his injury problems that could bleed into next season I’m not sure how much interest there would be but I think a team who could use a backup goalie even if they have to wait a bit for him to get healthy should trade for him.

48 Mackenzie Blackwood (NJ)

Previous ranking: 38th

Contract: 1 year left at $2.8 Million

Previous years stats: 3.39 GAA-.892 SV% in 25GP

Position: Goaltender

Quick Analysis: Blackwood is a lot less likely to be moved I think after the Devils acquired Vitek Vanecek and i think there is a very good chance that Vanecek and Blackwood are the tandem next year but I do think that there is a chance the Devils want to improve even more and grab another goalie and that leads them to move Blackwood so while I don’t think it will 100% happen I do think there is a chance he does move.

49 Josh Bailey (NYI)

Previous ranking: 24th

Contract: 2 years left at $5 Million

Previous years stats: 14G-30A-44P in 74GP

Position: Winger

Quick Analysis: this is another player that could be on his way out of the Islanders organization as his $5.5 Million dollar cap hit could handicap the team trying to get a impact forward in free agency and he did fall on my list because of the recent report that the Islanders aren’t shopping him but I still think that if they are serious in getting a high end forward then Bailey is the most likely to go.

50 Matt Dumba (MIN)

Previous ranking: 49th

Contract: 1 year left at $6 Million

Previous years stats: 7G-20A-27P in 57GP

Position: Right side Defensemen

Quick Analysis: the Wild could still need some cap space even after the Fiala trade and while there are more likely scenarios for clearing cap space I think if they really wanted cap space they would move Dumba as they would get a great return and he only has a year left on his contract so moving him to gain cap space and assets may make the most sense for the Wild.
