It is now day 3 of NHL free agency and I will now be giving my opinion on all of the moves that happen yesterday on day 2 and today.
To start with there were two trades that happened yesterday that I never got around to talking about so here is my opinion on the Brown to Washington and Nemeth to Arizona.

Washington Ottawa
Connor Brown 2024 2RD (WAS)
Analysis: the Capitals are able to get some more scoring depth as they bring in Connor Brown from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a 2RD pick in the 2024. Now Brown is a really good middle six forward who seemed to lose his spot in the Senators top 9 after they brought in multiple top 6 forwards and he now didn’t have a role on this team plus the Senators said that because he would test free agency next year and not resign that they might try and trade him and they could definitely do without his $3.6 Million dollar cap hit. So the Capitals are getting a player who can play middle six minutes although I think he will play on the 3rd line maybe with a young Center like Lapierre and be a effective depth scorer for the Capitals at least for the next season. As for Ottawa they didn’t want a contract in return so they only get the 2RD pick in 2024 which I think is a pretty good return for Brown given what he brings to a team. So all in all I think both teams do pretty good here as the Senators get a 2RD pick for a player who lost his spot in Ottawa and wasn’t going to come back after next year, while Washington is able to add to their scoring depth as they need some more depth scoring with Backstrom injuried for at least some part of next year.
Arizona New York R
Patrik Nemeth Ty Emberson
2024 CON 3RD (NYR)
2025 2RD (NYR)
Analysis: with the Rangers desperately needing cap space to get a Center they were able to strike a deal with the Coyotes for Arizona to take Patrik Nemeth along with two higher end draft picks for prospect Ty Emberson. So the Coyotes once again use their cap space and put it to good use as Nemeth was a reliable 3rd pair defensemen for the Rangers but at $2.5 Million dollars for the next two years he was too expensive for the role in New York so the Coyotes jump on it and he should be a 3rd pair defensemen in Arizona season this year and to say thank you for getting them out of cap hell the Rangers add 2 picks the first is a conditional pick as the Coyotes will decide if they want the the Rangers 3RD pick in 2024 or their 2RD pick in 2026, as well as a 2RD pick in 2025 and while it was a steep price to pay it was a necessary move for the Rangers and another good move for the Coyotes. As for the Rangers on top of getting rid of Nemeth they also get Ty Emberson in the deal as Emberson was a 3RD pick in 2018 and just played his first pro season playing 58 games in the AHL getting 11 points in those games and while he is at least a few years away I think in the future he might be able to carve a role as a 3rd pair defensemen but for now he will play in the AHL. I would say the Coyotes won this deal by getting two good draft picks and once again using their cap to their advantage.
