Which teams should trade for Jaycob Chychrun before the trade Deadline.
I for one am still skeptical that Chychrun will get moved more in before the deadline then in the offseason and I think that they should really consider a move of this magnitude but from some great source’s that have said he should be dealt and some point this year I am going to look at the five teams that I think that should trade for him not including Edmonton who insiders think are not in the conversation for Chychrun. And I am basing off all of my predicted trade package’s on a better version of the Eichel deal because Buffalo got four solid pieces for Eichel and Eichel is older then Chychrun and Chychrun has a $4.6 million dollar Cap hit for four years rather then Eichel’s $10 million dollar cap hit for five years so the Coyotes should get a better package then Buffalo got for Eichel.
#1) New York I
The Islanders are not the team they had been the past few seasons and a big part of that was that due to cap purposes they moved on from Nick Leddy and players like Andy Greene and Zdeno Chara just can’t handle the load of being a top four defensemen and I agree that they need to make a move quickly because if they keep losing they will be sellers at the deadline. Here is what I think the trade package will look like, it would start with Dobson or Wahlstrom as they need a high level prospect and does two are the closest they’ve got to a top prospect, another young player who I would think would be Anthony Beauvillier who is a solid top 6 forward and would help Arizona, a conditional first round pick that if the Islanders pick this year is a top ten pick then Arizona would get their 2023 1RD pick and a second round pick either this year or next as that would be sufficient in that type of deal.
Trade Verdict for NYI package
Noah Dobson or Oliver Wahlstrom
Anthony Beauvillier
2022/23 1RD pick (top ten protected)
2022/23 2RD pick
#2) Boston
They have been looking for a physical defensemen that can put up points since Torey Krug left VIA free agency and Chychrun definitely fits the type of Defensemen that Boston would want and the missed out on Ekman-Larsson when he was traded so they could make this happen. They would first need a top prospect and that would have to be ether Urho Vaakanainen or Jack Studnicka who are by far their top prospects and could help Arizona in the future at Center or Defense, then Brandon Carlo has the young player, Carlo has done a solid job on Boston’s defence over the past couple years and his six year deal at $4.1 million would get Arizona a long term defensemen, and then they would need to give up this year’s first rounder as it looks like they will make the playoffs and also need to trade a 2023 or a 2024 first round pick in my opinion to trade for Chychrun.
Final Verdict BOS package
Jack Studnicka or Urho Vaakanainen
Brandon Carlo
2022 1RD pick
2023/24 2RD pick
#3) Colorado
Now I know what you would say why does Colorado need to make a trade like this when they already have a great team, well because there had been reports earlier in the season that Colorado might want to get a more physical defensemen after they got pushed around in the playoffs last year and Chychrun would definitely be a major upgrade for Colorado. To starts Arizona would need a top prospect and even though the Coyotes would probably want Bowen Byram I think the Avalanche would say no and have to agree on moving young D-Men Justin Barron, the young player in my opinion would have to be Samuel Girard who’s six years at $5 million dollars resemble’s Chychrun’s but is longer so Arizona could get more out of him, the Avalanche already traded their first round pick this year to the Coyotes in the Kuemper deal so it would have to be next years first round pick and a 2024 second round pick.
Final Verdict COL package
Justin Barron
Samuel Girard
2023 1RD pick
2024 2RD pick
#4) Los Angeles
Los Angeles has probably one of the best right sides in the pacific with Doughty, Walker and Roy and are doing okay in the race for a playoff but don’t have a long term solution at left side on the defence as they have a short term fix in Alex Edler but if they really want a solid defence they should trade for Chychrun. First they need a blue chip prospect but the Kings don’t have one on the defensive side so trading Quinton Byfield or Alex Turcotte would be more realistic as they are both Center’s and Los Angeles has a plethora of top center prospects and they should trade one of these two players who are recent top 5 picks, then I would trade a roster player and then they should give up ether Tobias Bjornfot or Sean Durzi who are both young enough to entice Arizona but are old enough to start in the NHL and both are D-Men, then the Kings should trade their first round pick for next year because they don’t know if they will make the playoffs this year, and also a 2022 2RD pick and bundle all of this up for Chychrun.
Final Verdict LA package
Alex Turcotte or Quinton Byfield
Sean Durzi or Tobias Bjornfot
2023 1RD pick
2022 2RD pick
#5) Detroit
The Red Wings have a great right side of their defence but their entire current left side of the defence is currently a pending UFA so they are going to need some more help on the blue line and on the left side and given that Chychrun is a big bodied left shot defensemen who plays on the left side it just (at least in my opinion) makes total sense for Detroit to trade for Chychrun. They would have to start with a solid prospect and if I was Detroit I would offer up Simon Edvinsson who is another big bodied defensemen and was taken in the draft just this past year and I think would entice Arizona, as a young solid player I would consider trading Filip Zadina who is a RFA this and even though he hasn’t produced at times this year he is still a solid top six forward, now they are bubble team for the playoffs this year so I would trade their 2023 first round pick and one of their two second round picks whichever one winds up being higher.
Final Verdict DET Package
Simon Edvinsson
Filip Zadina
2023 1RD pick
2022 2RD pick (WAS/DET whichever’s higher)
These are the five teams who I could see trading for Chychrun and all the packages I think could be offered
#2) more Arizona news as Lawson Crouse could be traded
On Elliott Friedman’s 32 thoughts blog he said that another Coyote player who could find himself on the move is Lawson Crouse. Now Crouse has excelled this season as a top 6 forward on a bad Coyotes team and he is a pending RFA and close to becoming a Unrestricted free agent so moving on from Crouse would be smart, as he has 15 points in 30 games played this season only 11 points away from a career high and even though I think he would be one of the more likely ones to go their have been six or seven different Coyotes players mentioned in trade rumors and they would still have to ice a team for another month before the offseason so while it is possible most of these players are traded not all of them will be.
#3) Halak will be moved soon
On a recent report from Darren Dreger he reported that the Canucks would have to pay Halak a $1.25 million dollar signing bonus if he plays in two more games and although he is a good veteran backup for Vancouver with their Cap space trading him would be a smart deal but they would have to acquire another cheap backup who can play some nights for Vancouver and any team who needs a solid veteran backup should make this deal while it makes sense for Vancouver to try to trade him.
