Rumors and News
#1) Logan Brown moved
After asking for a long time the Sens have finally traded disgruntled former first rounder Logan Brown. Logan Brown and a conditional 2022 4RD pick were traded to the Blues for forward Zach Sanford. For Ottawa they move on from a first round player who has been riddled with injury and never cracked a lineup and got Sanford, Zach Sanford should be a solid top 9 forward for Ottawa this season and will be a UFA next year so being on a team where he can be a solid forward is good. For St.Louis Logan Brown a St.Louis native should get a chance to be a NHL player this year and I could see him start the season on the fourth line while the pick will only be transferred if Brown plays in 30 regular games with the Blues.
#2) Tomas Hertl willing to take a discount to sign with competitive Sharks
Tomas Hertl has been a great player for the Sharks but is entering the final year of his contract and could command a great amount of money on his next contract. And he has also stated that if the Sharks grow this year and are a competitive team he may give the Sharks a discount to remain with them but they would have to be competitive because he wants to win and a discount might only be 7 or 8 Million instead of 9 Million.
#3) Pierre Engvall the most likely Leafs trade option
The Maple Leafs have a logjam of forwards currently on their roster (15) and need to get rid of one or two bottom 6 forwards while also there cap problems is another thing that they need to fix before the start of the season. One player a lot of people are speculating could solve both problems at the same time would be Pierre Engvall. Engvall could find himself on the outside looking in opening night and if he was traded for a draft pick would free up around $1.25 Million on their cap and allow them a little more cap flexibility.
